Effects of unemployment

Unemployment is among one of the most head-aching issues in the modern society. As the rate of unemployment increases, it is having more and more negative influence on the unemployed, their families and the society. Primarily, a jobless person and their families are those who directly suffer from unemployment. Financially, they live on welfare, savings or support of relatives, which means extremely tight, unstable and dependent budget. The whole family, thus, lives from hand to mouth and struggles to make both ends meet. Necessities are limited to the minimum while amenities and entertainment are barely available. Moreover, education chances for the children are also seriously restricted. Surviving through the days, they are also emotionally affected due to unemployment. First of all, joblessness often makes people feel inferior and powerless. For this reason, the unemployed find it uncomfortable to join any public events like class reunions or weddings. This psychological distress usually gives rise to stressful atmosphere, frequent conflicts and even breakdowns in families. Additionally, with too much free time at hand, the unemployed are often bored and prone to alcohol addiction and drug abuse. On a large scale, unemployment is also appalling to the society. First of all, the economy is critically harmed by unemployment. There is a loss of tax revenue, since people who are out of work are unable to pay taxes. Furthermore, with many people not working, the society suffers from a loss on the national income and a burden on the welfare cost. More seriously, downgraded moral standard is another companion of unemployment. A number of the jobless have no choice but to make a living on illegally stealing, smuggling or cheating others. Unemployment, hence, also has an enormous impact on crime and security of the society. Children of these unemployed parents, who have poor educational conditions and stormy families, are easily spoiled then in turn become unemployed themselves. In conclusion, it is apparent that unemployment has a considerable impact on not only the unemployed and their families but also the whole society. Without urgent solutions to the current situation, these effects would become devastating in the near future.

2. A good tour guide Traveling to explore the world is always a tempting benefit that draws youngsters towards the tour guide job. Nevertheless, the career, in fact, requires much more qualities than just the travel hobby. Knowledge comes as one of the very first criteria of a good tour guide. Undoubtedly Miss Know-it-all is very likely to satisfy the tourists curiosity. She does not necessarily have historical to memorize information of exactly the every geographical, Adding a few geological interesting and real-life

destination.

experiences often attract people more easily. However, her stories, no matter how fascinating, could hardly be conveyed if there were a language barrier between the tour guide and her customers. Thus, an operational command of at least one foreign language is a must for a good tour guide. Apart from knowledge, an excellent tour guide has to acquire many essential skills for his or her career. First, being able to work independently and promptly is compulsory for a tour guide whose responsibility is look after several people. Everyone seems to seek help from their tour guide when they have a problem; whether it is a fatal accident or just a lost purse. Another important value of a tour guide is leadership skill, which includes a variety of sub-skills such as time arrangement, effective communication, conflict resolution, first-aid etc. Last but not least, there are certain personalities that seem to belong exclusively to the born-to-be-tour guides. These gifted guides are always energetic and optimistic. They somehow manage to maintain a grin on their face even when their body is frozen out of exhaustion. They are also outgoing, engaging and affable so that their customers always feel as if the sun shines brightly in a travel to the Antarctic, for instance. Finally, it is impossible for a tour guide to be perfect without a good sense of humor. With this personality, he or she is able to stir up the atmosphere and whirl away the boredom of the seemingly endless coach ride. To sum up, adequate knowledge, effective skills and proper personalities are three irreplaceable edges; without any of which, a full triangle of an ideal tour guide can never be formed. 3. Part-time jobs The question of whether students should have part-time jobs or not has always been a topic for heated debates among teachers, parents and students themselves. As a sophomore who is currently having three part-time jobs, I firmly believe that it is useful in many ways for students to work while studying. To begin with, part-time jobs are practically essential to students whose poor families cannot afford to pay for their tuition fees as well as living expenses. Working part-time, thus, is the only key for them to open the door to colleges. Besides, students who are financially sufficient should also take part-time jobs because it helps you know how to treasure the value of labor. Concerning this, many people argue that having parttime jobs would lure students towards monetary benefits and distract them from studying. As for my friends and me, knowing how hard it is to earn money on our own, we are, in fact, more motivated to study harder to guarantee a better chance for wellpaid jobs after graduation. Secondly, the invaluable real-life experience you gain from part-time jobs highlights a significant plus in your future rsum. Employers would find the old hand applicants definitely more preferable to the complete novices. However, part-time jobs are often considered time-consuming, thus limit your time to study. Lets look at this drawback from a more positive viewpoint. First, being up to your ears is obviously better than being at a loose end, wasting your free time sleeping or playing computer games. Second, students will sooner or later have to face the intense schedules when they leave the school gate. Practicing arranging time logically assists your ability to work under pressure, which is of great help to your future. Finally, and most importantly, part-time jobs widen your social interaction. Having a part-time job will expand your friendship network, help you get closer access to the potential employers and foster your communication skills. And parents shouldnt worry too much about the safety their children in the complicated world out there since they can always supervise and intervene anytime necessary. In addition, only after being finagled by a fake jobs intermediary or mistreated by bosses can students know the

ropes of the non-pink life and become much more streetwise than those who bury their schooldays in libraries. For all these financial, academic and social benefits, part-time jobs, in my opinion, should be strongly encouraged among students community.

According to a research by Linda Waite, a sociologist at the University of Chicago, married men tend to live, on average, 10 years longer than single men. From my point of view, this situation can be attributed to the positive influence of marriage on men s physical and mental health. To start with, married life guarantees a better physical health for men. In most cases, lifestyle of a married man is much more organized than that of an unmarried counterpart. Carefree men would hardly ever bother to cook three meals per day on a regular basis if they were living by themselves. Additionally, for the sakes of children, bad behaviors such as intemperately sleeping, uncontrollably drinking or smoking are always discouraged under the family roof. On the other hand, there is no such restriction for non-married men, which leads to more freedom and also more unhealthiness in their living style. Another aspect of everyday life, sexual interactions, is safer and more moderate for married men than for single men. It is common knowledge that being loyal to your life partner is one of the most effective ways to prevent Sexual Transmitted Diseases. What is more, in times of illness, unmarried men usually receive very little help while married men are taken good care of by their spouses. When men have reached the other side of the steep, friends and relatives are often either too weak, too far or too busy. At that time, wives and kids are the only ones willing to do this tiring task. A wedding ring is also mentally beneficial for men. Family members stand by each other through ups and downs. Burdens are lessened and happiness is multiplied by sharing with one another. Besides, the peacefully cozy atmosphere at home has to

power of relieving stress. To a married man, house is where his woman and children are waiting, is a nest to rest his wings after an exhausting flight. To an unmarried man, house is where no one but dark emptiness is waiting. Additionally, in a family, men are supposed to be the person for everyone to depend on. This dependability unconsciously makes married men more motivated and stable in life than non-married ones. Having a place to belong, as a result, strengthens mens minds. By and large, marriage offers men a healthier physical and mental strength, which improves longevity. Therefore, I suggest you think it over if you are planning to lead a single life. Language and culture have always drawn my interest since a child. To be sure, each culture is uniquely attractive in a particular way. As for me, among many other peoples all over the globe, Thailand is the most impressive one for its astonishing integration and contradiction between tradition and modernity. It is no hyperbole to address Thai as a land of tradition. First and foremost, tradition is apparently seen in the national religion of Thailand - Theravada Buddhism. In a modern world like this, how amazingly, this ancient religion still finds it way to win the hearts of nearly 95% of the total population. Most Thai men on entering their adulthood would spend some time as a monk. If you ask a Thai what year it is now, dont get shocked to hear the answer 2554. The reason is Thai use a special Buddhism calendar, and they are reluctant to change. Traditional values lead to a rather complex system of rules for social contact in Thailand. Thai children are educated to greet different kinds of people with different ways of wai, showing different levels of r espect. Foreigners when coming to Thailand have to keep in mind a number of taboos such as touching ones head or pointing your feet to someone. Additionally, unlike in Western countries or even Vietnam, it is extremely rare for Thai people to show intimacy in public places. There are even regulations banning these behaviors. Third, Thailand is one of

the very few nations in the world that still maintain the monarchy system. In fact, the royal family only has ceremonial power and costs its people a fortune for its expenses. However, people young and old still show their utmost admiration to the royalty through various ways such as T-shirts and laces that read We love the King.

Having said that, it is still undeniable that Thailand is also known as one of the most modern centers in Asia. Apart from industry and commerce, modernity can also be found in every aspect of Thai culture. To begin with, Thailand is notorious for widespread prostitution, an unavoidable impact of modernization. A study by Dr. Nitet Tinnakul from Chulalongkorn University in 2004 gives a total of 2.8 million sex workers in Thailand. What's more, modernity is seen in the blurred distinction between gay and straight in Thailand. Thais do not, by and large, make moral judgments about being gay. Surprisingly enough, the most renowned singer in Thailand, Bird Thongchai, is also a gay himself. To end with, it would be a mistake if we forgot to mention the modern signal in Thai freedom of expressing political view. Red shirts and yellow shirts have long made frequent front-page, which is an unarguable evidence for the visible political democracy in Thailand.

All things considered, Thai culture is a harmonious combination of conventional and contemporary values, which altogether make it an amazing land that no one would refuse to explore. 6. Topic: Discuss some possible ways in which museums could be made more interesting places to visit?

Museum for a long time has been considered quite a boring place with unanimated and stiff items. To make them more outstanding places to visit, we can build up virtual museums, create life-replicating areas and organize exciting events. Museums can be virtualized so that anyone can get access to it at their convenience. Virtual museums are replication of the real ones. Visitors can go along the halls, stop to look at the objects they find engaging, read information and write testimonials if they want. Neither do they have to walk till exhausted nor waste time

seeing things they arent interested in. They can also listen to music or chat with friends while visiting, which is a taboo in real museums. More importantly, visiting the virtual museums can intrigue them to go to the real ones to eyewitness and take pictures with their favorite items. In that case, they will already know exactly where to go and what to see. Another way to attract visitors to museums is to give them the chance to actually be in the real condition rather than just staring at solid photos. It would be wonderful if besides the demonstration area; there is another replicating area that visitors themselves can feel like they are living in the history. The Museum of Military Air Force, for instance, can provide visitors with a model airplane in which they can sit and try driving under experts inspection. Or the Museum of History can create model grounds of Dien Bien Phu for visiting students to try battling themselves with fake weapons. Such areas would certainly draw a lot of playful and curious youngsters. The final method is not very new but can be carried out more effectively: organizing exciting events. A shining example that has successfully applied this method is the Museum of Ethnology. They have annual events on special occasions such as Midautumn festival which attracts a lot of visitors. Similarly, each museum can base on their field to find the most unique and captivating activity for them. The Museum of Arts, for example, can hold drawing contests then put the winning works on display. Through such events, museums will get more attention and interest from the public. In my view, the subjects of every museum are absolutely fascinating. It is the unchanging way of demonstration that gives museums the notorious reputation of boredom. Above are some possible ways of varying displaying methods in order to wipe out such prejudice. Word count: 410 7. What are some of the features of a good newspaper?

Reading newspapers, one of the most common sources of updating information, has become a part of many peoples daily habit for a long time. With the rapidly growing popularity of online newspapers, it is now crucial for the traditional newspapers to reshape themselves in terms of both the appearance and the content.

Though the old saying goes Never judge the book by its cover, appearance in fact plays a prominent role as it gives the very impression of anything; and a newspaper is no exception. To stand out among dozens of others, it has to own a unique front-page with eye-catching headlines facilitated by lively illustrations. Once a reader has picked the newspaper up, its time for the other pages to play their parts. A clear layout without appropriate fonts size and colors, a consistent format and only few adverts would create the sense of professionalism, which is apparently expected by the audience. Nevertheless, no matter how attractive a newspaper might look, it can never be considered a good one without an excellent content. First, the information provided in a newspaper should be updated, various and correct. Undoubtedly, no one would bother to spend their money on old pieces of news that they already knew. Struggling to be the first to publish the sensational news, hence, is an obligatory task of a renowned newspaper. Of course, there can be newspapers that only focus on one particular field. However, from the perspective of a general reader, I think it is for the sakes of the busy readers that newspapers should present notable news in various aspects from sports to economics or politics. Finally, prestigious newspapers are also those that always help the readers to know the correct information. They hardly ever have to make a corrigendum as their news is always true and reliable as a result of a careful editing procedure. More importantly, each journalist needs to remain an unbiased position when composing their articles. Ideal newspapers only gives out what happens, they neither take side nor impose their audience to do so. By and large, a good newspaper in, in my belief, has to possess a high quality in its appearance as well as its content. Otherwise, it would be almost impossible for them to survive in such a competitive environment. Word count: 382 8. Topic: Compare the quality of news on TV, radio, in newspapers and on the Internet. Since its appearance in the early 20th century, the Internet has become a popular source of information. However, compared to traditional media such as TV, radio and

newspapers, I think the news on the Internet is much less reliable and requires readers to be more careful. First, news on the Internet is less reliable because of its questionable authors. While most news on traditional media is written by professional journalists and editors, news authors on the Internet are very various, from apprentice journalists to amateur public. Sometimes news on the Internet is marked as written by synonymous authors or even without any acknowledgement at all. Second, online news unreliability results from its flexible ways of posting. News on TV, radio and newspapers cannot be published without careful supervision of the bodies in charge. On the other hand, anyone from a child to a terrorist can easily build up their news website and post uncertified or even harmful information. For such reasons, it is necessary to learn the appropriate ways to distinguish what is true and what is not whenever we encounter some pieces of news on the Internet. The first tip is to check the source of information including the trustworthiness of the website and the author. Prestigious newspapers, governmental websites, educational websites are most trustworthy sources while news from forums, blogs and free-editable websites should be carefully checked. The name and qualifications of the author, if available, is another sign of reliability. If time allows, referring to news on the same topic from different sources is the best way to see different viewpoints and evaluate the soundness of the news. These steps can become much less strenuous if the quality of news on the Internet is better controlled. Governments can pass laws regulating specific conditions for an individual or organization to be able to post official news on the Net. Besides, searching tools can develop evaluating and filtering news functions. But perhaps most importantly, each individual whenever writing something on the Internet, should be fully self-aware of its possible effects. To conclude, on the Internet, anyone with a computer can become authors, which leads to unreliability of online news. It is thus necessary for everyone have specific skills of identifying true information as an online reader and careful consideration of posting information as an online writer. Word count: 387

9. Topic: Compare your life now with what it was like twenty years ago. For the life of humankind, 20 years might be nothing, but for the life of an individual, 20 years is indeed a long way with many significant changes. Stories in my parents reminiscence about life 20 years ago sounds to me not much different from fairy tales. Indeed, my familys material life has changed a lot in the last 20 years. The most significant change is perhaps in our accommodation and household facilities. My parents came to Hanoi from the countryside, thus had great difficulty finding a house to live in. When I was born, we had to live in rented flats or acquaintances extra rooms. It was very unstable and everyone shared the very limited space. At the moment, every day after school I come back to a cozy 4-floored house where I have my own room. No longer do I have to worry about being kicked out. Our domestic life has also become much more comfortable thanks to labor-saving machines and other facilities such as the gas cooker, the air-conditioner, etc. My means of transportation and communication have also improved remarkably. If 20 years ago, my whole familys asset is a self -assembled bicycle, now we have 2 motorbikes and 1 bicycle. Public transportation such as buses and trains has also become much more available and convenient, too. In the last 20 years, communication witnesses a more significant breakthrough. In the past, the only means of communication was post-office and even home phones were rare. On the other hand, nowadays every member of my family owns a cell phone. Keeping in touch with distant relatives and friends is made much easier with the appearance of a computer and the Internet in my family. Back then when I was born, those were very advanced technical terms that my parents had no clue about. Finally, my familys ways of entertainment has become much more varied in the flow of whole society. Cinema, once considered a luxury, now is one of my weekly leisure activities. Unlike the old time when weekends are spent at home or in the countryside, now entertainment parks, karaoke, eating out have become so common.

Traveling, which we could hardly dreamt of 20 years ago, has become a must-have every year for my family. In conclusion, my material life has witnessed a significantly positive change over last 20 years. I am deeply grateful for my parents effort in bringing us a better life. Word count: 405 10. Topic: What do you think of shopping on the Internet? How do you think the use of Internet will affect shopping in the future?

More and more shopping websites have been mushrooming in Vietnam over the past few years. This new trend, which has both advantages and disadvantages, in my opinion, will continue to develop rapidly in the near future. Undeniably, online shopping saves a lot of time and effort. Traditional shopping requires a certain amount of time dragging around, trying, bargaining and might end up failing to purchase any satisfactory product. Shopping on the Internet is way more convenient. You can relaxingly sit at your desk with a computer and choose goods from different shops not only all over Vietnam but even overseas, which is almost impossible for traditional shopping method. Nevertheless, shopping on the Internet also creates a number of troubles. First, it is the extreme convenience of this way of shopping that increases the number of shopaholics. With the natural interest in shopping, many girls are likely to spend hours and hours on thousands of online fashion stores and unconsciously get addicted and spend themselves in a hole or encounter health problems. More seriously, by doing so they are exposing themselves in the danger of being cheated. Internet is very difficult to control: you can neither touch nor check the quality of the products until they are shipped to you. Hence, there is always a chance of getting the low-quality products or even not getting the product at all after already sending the money to the sellers account. In spite of these disadvantages, I firmly believe that this new shopping style will continue to develop at a dizzy speed. Most shop owners will soon catch up with the

trend and post their products online so as to increase their sales as well as reputation. Many people whose financial conditions cannot afford to hire a shop will also choose to begin their businesses online. As for the customers, as the pace of life becomes more and more hectic, shopping online is a preferable choice that they will turn to for its previously mentioned pluses. To conclude, online shopping has been and will continue to be a popular trend among the Vietnamese youth for its convenience. However, it is essential that the authority take its steps in administering this highly flexible trading method to guarantee customers benefits. Word count: 374 11. Topic: What are the advantages and disadvantages of using robots instead of people? What type of tasks do you think robots will be capable of doing in the future? With the rapid development of technology, robots role in the modern world is becoming more and more significant. Despite some certain drawbacks, the future of robots is still very promising thanks to its current amazing capabilities. Undeniably, the appearance of robots facilitates our lives in two major ways: enhance productivity and decrease risks. First, unlike humans, robots are programmed to perfectly complete repetitive tasks, no matter how meticulous or boring, without complaining or requiring breaks. Second, risky jobs such as mining or firefighting, if can be done by robots, would save a lot of terrible losses for human kinds. However, the increasing use of artificial intelligence also has several side effects, most prominently are unemployment and humans dependence on robots. Obviously, when almost all basic and manual work is done by robots, people with low qualifications and no professional skills are likely to be become jobless. This, in turn can give rise to a lot of severe influences on the society. A more distant effect of automation is the humans growing dependence on these machines. Imagine if the I nternet suddenly stopped working for one day, the devastation that the humankind would have to suffer is

immeasurable. All those fictional movies which depict the vision of how robots take over humans and rule the world are not simply a works of imagination. Impossible is nothing, they say. With the dizzy advancement of technology, there might be a day when robots can function like human beings in almost every aspect of life. Not only manual works, they would also step in the intellectual world such as being an English teacher, a brain surgeon or even a programmer who creates other robots generations. To recap, in spite of some disadvantages, robots still play an irreplaceable role in the modern world. Therefore, it is now too early to predict what potential capabilities that human will blow into these machines in the future. Word count: 318 12. Topic: What are the major problems associated with living in large cities? Every year, metropolitans all over the world are flooded with millions of migrants from the provinces. Lured by the advantages of living in big cities, these flows of people are in fact facing three major problems: high cost of living, insecurity and pollution. To begin with, high living standards are followed by costly expenditure on basic necessities such as food and clothes. Moreover, city livers obviously have high demands for various services such as cable, Internet line, etc which are typical of city life, hence spending a fortune on them. To make both ends meet, many people have struggle with extra work hours or part-time jobs. Education and healthcare, as a result, does not receive enough attention. The second problem associated with living in large cities is insecurity. Modernization together with its negative effects such as individualism and materialism leads to a lot of social evils. Large numbers of drug addicts, thieves, burglars are everywhere, which endangers all inhabitants. They must always highly alert whether at home or in the market. Therefore, even if they are lucky enough to be safe, they would hardly ever feel totally relaxed. Last but not least, city-dwellers have to face up with pollution. Continuous construction sites, heavy traffic, overpopulation, lack of trees, all give rise to the dusty polluted air. Another typical kind of urban pollution is noise. Sleeplessness then stress -

very common diseases among urban citizens, may result from ear-splitting noises from the annoying neighborhood, the overcrowded vehicles and the non-stop factories contribute to. In conclusion, people living in big cities have to suffer from expensive expenditure, dangerous social environment and polluted physical environment. Word count: 272 13. Topic: Identify several ways that cities are destroying the physical environment. Urbanization has undoubtedly contributed greatly to the process of modernizing. However, urbanizations side-effect on the environment is becoming an alarming issue. Cities, big and small, are destroying the physical environment as they are centers of water and air pollution. First and foremost, urban inhabitants and industrial factories are seriously polluting the water sources. Cities are like magnets and people are like metals. Overpopulation in cities leads to an enormous amount of sewage that no recycling or filtering systems can manage. Extra mount of sewage are discarded into lakes and rivers, breaking the natural balance of all aquarium beings. These once pure flows of water, thanks to urbanization, now turn black and start to smell. More and more industrial factories mushrooming on the outskirts also contribute their industrial effluent. Very few companies are willing to invest in sewage purification in consideration of environmental benefits. In most cases, they often irresponsibly dispose of sewage containing industrial poisonous chemicals into the nearest rivers.

Metropolitans air environment is also being devastated. First, to resolve the lack of land for accommodation, trees are cut down and replaced by sky-scrapers. More people and fewer plants results in an increase in the deal of carbon dioxide. Second, overpopulation means heavy traffics, which release poisonous emissions that add to the greenhouse effect. In addition, lots of construction sites create a dusty air environment for the cities. Air pollution in cities can also be attributed to industrial factories which give out large amount of toxic gases directly into the atmosphere.

In summary, if there is no efficient solution soon, the air and water environment of cities will be demolished in the near future. Word count: 274 14. Topic: Nowadays, with the invention of the microwave and with the popularity of fast-food restaurants, food has become easier to prepare than ever. Do you think microwave ovens and fast-food restaurants are beneficial to society? Over 90% of American homes have microwave ovens used for meal preparation. At least one quarter of American adults eat fast food every day. But perhaps very few of them are aware that apart from some certain advantages, microwave ovens and fastfood restaurants are in fact damaging their own health. To some extent, microwave ovens and fast-food restaurants well serve the hectic pace of life nowadays. They are obviously time-saving and convenient. A normal microwave oven can cook much faster than an electronic cooker. It is also very useful in heating the stored foods that, for example, were previously cooked during weekend. Similarly, fast-food restaurants are often organized in a way that minimizes customers waiting time. For instance, a Mc Donald hamburger takes no longer than 25 seconds to serve. Nevertheless, the side-effects of microwave ovens and fast foods on humans health have recently posed a lot of controversies. The increasing popularity of fast food restaurants in the United States is often mentioned as one of the main reasons for the explosion of obesity. The combination of cheap prices and availability of large portions tend to encourage overeating. Whats more, fast foods are often short of fresh fruits and vegetables and cooked with a lot of oil and butter, which are very harmful to people with high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart diseases. The Soviet Union banned the use of microwave ovens in 1976 for a sound reason. To begin with, minerals, vitamins, and nutrients of all microwaved food is reduced or altered so that the human body gets little or no benefit. More seriously, it has been proved that constant consumption of microwaved food causes memory loss, concentration difficulties, emotional instability, and intelligence decrease. But probably

the most shocking consequences of consuming food processed by a microwave are increase in cancerous cells in human blood and development of stomach and intestinal tumors. In short, in exchange for time and convenience, the microwave oven users as well as fast food eaters are unconsciously risking their precious health. For that reason, I firmly believe that the microwave ovens and the fast food restaurants are more harmful than useful to the modern society. 15. IMMIGRATION PROBLEMS The twenty first century is marked with globalization, in which every nation comes closer together in terms of politics, economy, culture, etc. One of the most important factors that contribute greatly to globalization is the rising trend of immigration. The immigrants nowadays, however, still face up with a lot of difficulties which can generally be categorized into socio-cultural and financial ones. Moving to a totally strange country is indeed a big challenge. The very first issue that one might encounter is language barrier. Take Chinese Americans as an example. Most of them have poor command of English by the time they migrate into the country. Hence they have to live in isolated China towns where every inhabitant understands Chinese. Other ethnic Americans are probably not as lucky. They struggle to survive in a community which is difficult to communicate with. Language barrier limits their chances of employment, their opportunities of education and isolate them from the rest of the society. Difference in lifestyle, in addition, prevents them from integrating into the society. Traditional Asian teenagers, for example, might feel uncomfortable in American parties, the most common way of socializing among their peers. Depression, inferiority complex and loneliness, therefore, come as a result. Suppose that the immigrants are fluent in the host countrys language and ado pt the culture well, another major obstacle, finance, is still waiting for them. Most immigrants choose to leave their beloved motherlands in seek of a brighter future in a more developed country, where the cost of living is often much higher. Finding a proper house in a place with no relatives or friends can be troublesome, too. Most importantly,

immigrants face a high risk of unemployment in the long run. Inefficient language command and unrecognized ethnic qualifications are likely to hinder them from getting a stable and well-paid job. In order to overcome these hindrances, it is essential for immigrants to have the appropriate strategies. Thorough preparation in all aspects is of great importance. The process can last for years of hard work. To cope with the socio-cultural issues, immigrants should try their utmost to master the language and familiarize themselves with the destination peoples customs and values. Spending a few years there as a foreigner, which can be costly, is really worth it. Once they have moved to the country, an open attitude would help them soften the culture shock. Actively making new friends while keeping in touch with friends and relatives back home is another key to isolation and loneliness. In terms of finance, immigrants should have everything planned and arranged in detailed before moving. Accommodation, childrens schooling and other expenses should be researched and taken into consideration. Finding a job even before moving is a good idea too. As pointed out, here are many financial and socio-cultural problems that immigrants might encounter. Nonetheless, with a proper preparation and some good strategies, the assimilation process would be a much less unpleasant experience for them.
