DURATION : 50 min TYPE : Acquiring new information (Vocabulary) OBJECTIVES: colours; LESSON AIMS: 1. to get the students interested in the topic; to play a game; 2. to introduce vocabulary related to clothes; 3. to help students identify and describe what they are wearing; 4. to identify and name colours; 5. to practice names of body parts, clothes and colours in writing; 6. to make writing fun by using coloured pencils and drawing activities; 7. to practice names of clothes and colours by singing a funny song; 8. to make the vocabulary lesson fun; STRATEGIES: methods and procedures: conversation, explanation, dialogues, describing people/things; materials and equipment: textbook, Activity Book - handouts, pictures, drawing board, flashcards with colours, CD player, Cd, drawings done by the children; organization: class work, pair work, individual work; The purpose of this lesson is to provide students with the vocabulary needed in order to describe people and what they wear; to focus on body parts, clothes and

PROCEDURE

Recent work : The students have been studying: Language related to body parts, clothes and names of colours (p.66,67,68); Playing games such as Simon says with the topic body parts; Present Simple of To Be and To Have;

Warm-up Speaking

Interaction: T-Ss; Ss-T; individual work

Timing: 5

Aim 1: to get the students interested in the topic; to play a game, Simon says; T. gives instructions: the Ss have to point to different body parts: nose, ears, head, arms, legs etc. T. plays tricks on them: She says one thing and points to another, to see if they pay attention

Activity 1 Reading & Writing

Aim 2: to introduce vocabulary related to clothes; Aim 3: to help students identify and describe what they are wearing; Aim 4: to identify and name colours; T. asks the Ss. to look at the two images that she has stuck on the blackboard1 T. distributes the handouts (Xerox copies of the drawing on the blackboard) T. asks the Ss to look at the words on the handouts, follow and repeat Ss write on the translation on the handouts, below each word T. asks questions about what the Ss in the class are wearing: Eg.; Whats this? Is that a T-shirt? No, it is not/ Yes it is. What colour is it? Its ..

The T. has used an additional material: a page taken from the Childrens Picture Dictionary, Longman in order to make the identification of clothes an easier process;

Aim 5: to practice names of body parts, clothes and colours in writing ; Aim 6: to make writing fun by using coloured pencils and drawing activities; T. asks the Ss to open the Workbook on page 76 (Ex. 1 on page 76 asks them to read, match and colour) T. asks Ss to match the words in the middle with the body parts of both the boy and the girl T. asks individual Ss to read the text below each drawing. She repeats and corrects if necessary T. asks the Ss to use their coloured pencils in order to colour the two characters according to the text (Ex. 2 on page 76 asks the Ss to draw and write) T. asks them to draw their friend either a boy or a girl T. instructs/advises them to look at the texts above and complete after the model Activity 3 Listening Interaction: class work Timing: 10

Ending the lesson T. assigns the homework by giving clear instructions: Ex 1, 2, 3, in the Workbook

Assessment: T. praises all the Ss. for their participation during the entire lesson and gives advice to the shy ones.
