sors and light detection system, which will transmit signals to the satellite. After this, pictures will be captured using GPS technology. This is also useful in identifying road condition and illegal construction. The road department can refer to the 3D images to decide which streets at which locations need repairs, said Karvir. After studying results from pilot project, we will decide whether or not to implement this project. After getting intimation about action against them, hawkers remove their stalls temporarily. Through this technology we can find out the ground reality, said a senior PMC official.

THE Pune division of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) has failed to keep its promise of declaring the marks of 224 students that were reserved last Thursday, the day the online results were declared. The board officials had assured the parents and students of declaring the results latest by Saturday. Due to a technical snag, the Pune division has not been able

to declare results. Last Thursday, the authorities of the divisional board had assured the agitated parents and students of releasing pending results till Saturday. However, nothing of the sort happened. This is really frustrating. On Thursday, the officials promised us that they would declare the reserved results by Saturday. But, there is no sign of tat happening even after three hours of waiting, said Shantanu Joshi, a parent. Now, they say that we will receive our mark list from respective junior colleges on June 6. But, on the other hand, many colleges have already started BSc admissions based on the online mark statement. This is just not done, added Joshi.

The other side

Pushpalata Pawar, Secretary, Pune division of MSBSHSE said, We are still in the process of preparing final mark statements of these 224 students whose results are reserved. It will be completed by Monday. However, declaring the result is state boards job. Thats why it is better if these students wait till June 6. All of them will definitely get their mark lists on June 6 at their respective junior colleges. Incidentally, out of these 224 students, many are from interior parts of Pune, Ahmednagar and Solapur districts. Still, the state board has, till date, not published any detailed notification clarifying the reasons for keeping some results on hold because of some technical fault.
NO END TO THE WAIT: Many students whose results were reserved on Thursday and were to be declared by Saturday, had to turn back disappointed as there were no sign of the marks statement. (Right) A report on the plight of the 224 HSC students carried by MiD DAY on May 31. FILE PIC

The local body plans to use satellite Light Detection And Ranging (LiDAR) technology to take aerial photographs. Following the survey of a particular area by using this technology, municipal officials will get aerial 3D images which will help them identify precise locations of encroachment, illegal tree cutting, road digging, etc. The pilot project will be implemented this week in Kondhwa-Wanawadi area. Bangalore based Genesys International Corporation Ltd is handling this assignment. This technology is useful for every department of civic body as it gives a clear idea about spaces and also condition of roads. Many countries are using this science. In India, we have used it for road and infrastructural projects. But this is the first time it will be employed in Pune. In the pilot project, we are going to cover 2-3 kms. We are not levying any charges for this, said Pritam Karvir, assistant manager (sales), Genesys. In this technology, a customised vehicle will traverse through the targeted area.
