Efficient contact analysis with ANSYS

General
Simulation of highly nonlinear contact phenomena is becoming more and more common in todays race for better and cheaper products. Due to its complexity, this type of simulation is very demanding on the user of any FE-software. In order to be successful with contact analysis the right knowledge is more important than ever before. Efficient contact analysis with ANSYS starts where the standard ANSYS training Advanced Contact and Bolt Pretention ends and addresses how to set up and solve large, real-world contact problems. The training, which has been developed by Medeso AB and CAD-FEM GmbH, will be presented by one of Europes most experienced ANSYS users in the field of contact analysis, Mr. Erke Wang.

Goal

Users should know -when and how to use special options -different ways to enhance convergence -how to debug a non-converging analysis -check the results quality -how to shorten run times

Prior knowledge

Attendees are expected to have participated in the ANSYS training Advanced Contact and Bolt Pretention or have the corresponding level of knowledge.

Efficient Contact Analysis with ANSYS

The training course Efficient Contact Analysis with ANSYS was the second course in Medesos new series of Advanced Applied Training Courses (AATC). The training was extremly well received and below you can read the enthusiastic responses from some of the participants.

Having worked with ANSYS for about 10 years, I was a little sceptical of taking any additional courses but the course Efficient Contact Analysis, held by Medeso AB in Vsters on 15-16th of May with Mr. Erke Wang, thoroughly prepared course materials with simple but very illustrative exercises, combined with the excellent organization of the course by Medeso really made this course very EFFICIENT. Dr. Alexander Ptchelintsev, Nokia Research Center, Finland

The course on Efficient Contact Analysis with ANSYS, held by Medeso Vsters 15-16:th of May with Erke Wang as a lecturer, was quite a new approach to me in learning FE calculation in practice. The concept presumes good knowledge in FE theory as well as in handling ANSYS but after having struggled with contact problems quite recently it was just right for me. The highly skilled Erke Wangs enthusiasm in teaching FE analysis together with the abundance of pedagogic examples and exercises, made the course to an experience of utmost value to me. Gran Eriksson, Westinghouse Atom AB, Sweden

Having worked with Ansys for about 5 years and during the last 2 years contact analysis has been a very important part of my analysis work. In Ansys its very easy to define contact, but it can be tricky to achieve convergence. Since the models tend to get rather large, its very time-consuming to try different settings to achieve convergence. With this as a background I decided to sign up for the course Efficient Contact Analysis with ANSYS, held by Medeso AB on 15-16th of May with Mr. Erke Wang as a lecturer. The most positive about the course was a good theoretical background combined with an experience of solving world problems. Niclas Ljungwald, Volvo Construction Equipment, Sweden

It is my strong believe that the course Efficient Contact Analysis with ANSYS arranged by Medeso, will be of much use for me in my future work with contact problems in Ansys. The course lead by the competent and enthusiastic Erke Wang, contained examples and exercises that are easy to apply on practical problems. Mikael Bergkvist, Flowpressure Systems AB, Sweden
