The Vanadium International Technical Committee (VANITEC) is a committee of rep-
resentatives of companies involved in the mining of vanadium ores, processing of ores to
produce oxides of vanadium or slags containing them, and. manufacturers of ferro
vanadium and other vanadium additions for steel and titanium alloys and manufacturers
of vanadium chemicals.
The object of VANITEC is to promote the use of vanadium bearing materials and thereby
to increase the consumption of vanadium, To this end it organises research on the
properties of vanadium bearing materials, issues publication, (both original publications
specifically prepared by its members or other organisations and reprints of papers from
the technical press). In addition from time to time it organises seminars and conferences in
various parts of the world.
In 1981 at the time of the sesquicentennial anniversary of the discovery of vanadium
VANITEC endowed an award to be presented by the Metals Society each year to the
author(s) of the best published paper on vanadium bearing materials. The award winning
papers are reprinted by VANITEC.CONTENTS
