Welcome to Worship
elcome to New Hope Church, now into our third century serving God! If you are visiting, you will discover a loving, spirit-filled church family. Here is some helpful information as you join us in worship today: All who worship here are equals in the sight of God, regardless of race, age, gender, physical disability or religious affiliation. Communion, when celebrated, is open to all who profess Christ as Lord and Savior, whether affiliated with this church or not. Children may partake of Communion as well, if parents approve. A nursery is available during the service; please see a greeter for directions. (This is for infants and children up to 3 years of age.) Handicap-accessible restrooms are located off the narthex (main foyer) and adjacent to the entrance lobby in the Fellowship Hall/Gym. Please complete the tear-off attendance slip attached to the bulletin and drop it in the offering plate so we will have a record of your visit with us today. Thank you for remembering to silence your cell phone during the service. We ask that there be no food or beverages in the sanctuary, please. If you arrived as a visitor we hope that you leave as a friend and worship with us often! New Hope Church exists to: Glorify God in worship and rejoice in our life together; Share the Good News of the Gospel in word and deed; Reach as many as we can with the saving love of Jesus; Help each person grow toward Christian maturity, and find their place of service in the church and in the world.

Ministries/Activities Within Our Church

Goats! If anyone knows anything about who our guests, the goats, belong to, please let us know. They wandered onto the church grounds during VBS and are making a mess. They obviously like New Hope, too! Damage to Church Sign occurred in a two-vehicle accident Tuesday morning. One of the drivers was taken by ambulance to the hospital, and we have not heard how she is doing. Please keep her in your prayers. The incident was quickly addressed and Elder Bill Brown is handling the damage issues and we hope to have the sign repaired as good as new soon. Books in the Narthex - Carol Martin has donated a box-full of books that she said to use in any way we chose. So they are on a table in the narthex with a list of them all on a sheet. You may take any one of them, look them over or read them completely, and then bring them back. Before you return the book, please write brief remarks on an inside blank page saying what the book is about, how you liked it, etc. After we have finished the books we will put them in the library. What you write will be helpful in encouraging others to read. Thanks Carol!

A Cumberland Presbyterian Womens (CPW) Ministry is forming at New Hope. Elder Mary Thompson invites each woman who can be available this Wednesday, July 17, at 10:30 AM to meet at the church for a time of fellowship, prayer and sharing ideas about forming an organized womens ministry at New Hope. Those who can gather on the 17th will be initiating a program that can involve all the women of the church. Most churches plan for several circles that meet at various times during the month to make the CPW available to every woman. Each group will be free to be as creative as they want in the way their circle functions. Childrens Summer Fun Program is every Tuesday morning during the summer months. Pastor Brad will meet the youth and children at the church at 9:00 a.m. He will take the children in the church van to Providence in Mt. Juliet to see a movie and eat lunch. Any child going will need to bring $1.00 for the movie and $5.00 for lunch. A list of movies that will be featured each week is on the church website. Think of this as a parents half-day-out every Tuesday! New Hope invites the men of the church and the surrounding community to a weekly Prayer Breakfast each Tuesday morning at 6:00 a.m. A devotional is shared over breakfast, and a time of prayer follows before the busy workday begins. In a casual atmosphere men may discuss concerns that stay within the group. A bond between friends develops. This is a meaningful time of fellowship for the men who attend. Visitors are always welcome. Come join us! New Hope Choir Led by Ben, the New Hope choir is more than just a choir. It is a small group that meets on Sunday mornings to fellowship, express concerns, reflect on a devotional together and pray for one another. Those in the choir are blessed to be in it together. Join the choir and find out why! They meet every Sunday after the Worship Service at 11:30. Stephen Ministry - Got a burden? You dont have to carry that burden alone. You can have a STEPHEN MINISTER who will spend time with you, listen to you, and walk beside you. If you or someone you know is interested in receiving care through the Stephen Ministry program at New Hope, please contact the pastor through the Church office at (615) 449-7020 and request that a Stephen minister contact you.

Thought for the Week

Knowing that intercessory prayer is our mightiest weapon and the supreme call for all Christians today, I pleadingly urge our people everywhere to pray. Believing that prayer is the greatest contribution that our people can make in this critical hour, I humbly urge that we take time to pray--to really pray. Let there be prayer at sunup, at noonday, at sundown, at midnight--all through the day. Let us all pray for our children, our youth, our aged, our pastors, our homes. Let us pray for our churches. Let us pray for ourselves, that we may not lose the word 'concern' out of our Christian vocabulary. Let us pray for our nation. Let us pray for those who have never known Jesus Christ and redeeming love, for moral forces everywhere, for our national leaders. Let prayer be our passion. Let prayer be our practice. Robert E. Lee.
