Welcome!

Children's Theatre Company (CTC) exists to create extraordinary theatre experiences and to advance theatre as a means of educating, challenging and inspiring young people. We are committed to improving the quality of life for children and families in our community, state and region. CTCs theatre arts training program is dedicated to providing an outlet for the natural creativity of the children and families of Minnesota. Guided by the National Education Standards at each age and grade level, our teaching staff provide a nurturing, positive and safe learning environment so that each individual child will find his/her unique voice while exploring the creative process within a community of their peers. FIRST DAY Come and meet the teaching staff! A short meeting for parents and guardians is held during the first five minutes of the first class to meet the teaching artists and become familiar with the class space. WHAT TO BRING TO CLASS No food, juice or pop is allowed in the classrooms during class. Students are encouraged to bring water bottles and a healthy snack to have after the class session. Please note that toy weapons of any kind are not allowed in the education wing or any of our classrooms.

Time For Class!

PARENTS AND THE CLASSROOM Parents are welcome to observe class or camp. You may do so from the hallway or through the window. If you choose to be in the classroom, we ask that you inform the office and the teaching artist of your presence and let the teaching artist know that you are ready to participate in the classroom activities. VISITORS We do not allow visitors (other than parents) into the classroom while class is in progress. ANY visitor to CTC must check in at the Stage Door with the monitor. This is for your safety and the safety of our students. CODE OF CONDUCT In order to provide students with a safe and supportive environment, Imagination Stage does not tolerate any form of physical or verbal abuse, vandalism, or the use of any and all illegal substances. Any behaviors found in violation of this policy will be addressed and the student may be asked to leave classes or workshops and no refunds will be issued. NO-NUT POLICY We have several students each session with severe peanut or other nut allergies. Please make sure to thoroughly wash hands and faces of students who have consumed any nuts or nut-based products. Also, please do not send any nuts or nutbased products with your students.

Directions & Parking

SEVERE WEATHER & POWER OUTAGE If you have questions about class during severe weather or emergency situations, please call us at 612-8795685 or 612-879-5699. Keep in mind that our phones will be busy. Sometimes our neighborhood experiences a power outage. When this happens, our phone system also stops working. In this event, we will make every attempt to contact you from our personal cell phones. At that time we will be asking parents to come and pick their students up. SHARING SCHEDULE & ASSESSMENTS All classes will have a final sharing. You will receive an e-mail regarding the end of term final sharing dates and times. This information will also be posted on the Parent Info bulletin board and outside each classroom. Additionally, (at the discretion of the Teaching Artists) some of our classes open their doors for the last few minutes for a sharing time with parents each day. You will receive an assessment within approximately 2 weeks of the end of the term. Teaching Artists and the TAT office will be more than happy to discuss any questions you may have concerning recommendations for further study. REFUND POLICY If you cancel less than one week before the class begins, no refund or credit will be issued.

What To Wear
Dance & Movement Classes: Students should wear clothing that is easy to move in and that wont inhibit movement. The more clearly the teacher can see the students body joints, the more clearly the teacher can give the student technical feedback. Dressing in layers is a good idea, but wearing a lot of bulky clothing makes it difficult to give feedback. It can be a bit cool in the studio at the beginning of class and very warm by the end so please be prepared to shed extra clothing as we go along. Hair should be pulled back and off the students face. Please remove all large or dangling jewelry prior to camp to prevent injuries. Shoes: Most dance classes require bare feet unless otherwise noted. For ballet, tap or jazz camps, please wear the appropriate shoes for that style of dance. Students are encouraged to dance barefoot during creative movement classes. If you have questions about what to wear, ask your instructor or the TAT office. *Please note that during some classes, our Teaching Artists may need to make physical contact with a student in order to help make adjustments to their form, position, characterization, vocal quality and other nuances. Contact will be appropriate at all times. The Childrens Theatre Company is located at 2400 Third Avenue South in Minneapolis. The entrance to the McGuire Education Center is on the south end of the building, between the building and the parking ramp on 3rd Avenue. There is a turn-around driveway for pick up and drop off. Please pull all the way to the end of the drive, turn around and pull to the right. Please do not drive in and immediately pull to the right and stop as this creates a dangerous situation for students entering and exiting the building and for other traffic. Please do not leave unattended vehicles in the turn-around or park in any of the reserved parking spots. If you wish to come in to the building, parking is available on 3rd Avenue, in the parking ramp, the surface lot across the street from the parking ramp or the MIA surface lot on the corner of 3rd Avenue and 24th Street. Parents are welcome to wait during class in the family lounge located at the north end of the McGuire Education Center. DROP OFF / PICK UP POLICIES All students must sign in with the Stage Door Attendant when they arrive for class and sign out when they leave the building for the day. Students 2-8yrs old must be dropped off and picked up at their classrooms each day. All other students may be picked up and signed out at the Stage Door. Do not drop off students more than 15 minutes prior to the start of class each day. Students picked up more than 15 minutes after their class ends will be charged $1 per minute, for every minute until they are picked up.
