ETS3 Installation

Select complete installation. ETS3 Licensing:

As of now the ETS dongle (which is already in use) is licensed. But if a new dongle needs to be licensed, select the highlighted option in the diagram above and request for a license key. After 1st time ETS installation, it will come up in demo mode. Once its licensed, the ETS will be fully functional. Working with ETS3 Plug in the ETS dongle on the system. Double click on the ETS3 professional icon. You will see 3 windows: Topology; Group addresses; Buildings/Functions.

To create a new project using ETS, we would need the vd3 file which contains the serial and order number of the Cisco NBM device. In the main menu, click on New project. In the topology window, add new devices. A product finder window will pop up.

Select the manufacturer as Cisco and product name as NBM. Click on Find. It will populate the NBM serial number, order number etc based on vd3 file. Select the appropriate NBM and it will be listed in the topology window. Give the required physical address to the NBM. To give or change a physical address on the device, double click on the device to get the following window:

The physical address can then be changed. Then download the changed address onto the actual device. Right click on the Cisco NBM, select the device and click on Program Individual address:

After doing so, now we need to add the communication objects under Cisco NBM. To do so, right click on NBM, click on Edit Parameters.

Add few communication objects mentioning the data type and click on OK. Save the file as .pr5. Creating Group Addresses: In KNX, devices that belong to the same functional group are logically wired by means of group address. A 3 level group address consists of maingroup (0 to 15), middle group (0 to 7), subgroup (0 to 255).e.g. 1/1/1 To link a data point with a group address, right click on the data point, click on Link with... and then enter the group address. For e.g. Datapoint with the name (DPT01) has to be linked with the light attached to the presence sensor (say Light1). The Light1 attached to the presence sensor has the group address 0/0/1. Link the DPT_1 is then linked with the group address 0/0/1.

ETS3 settings We need to select the interface on which KNX telegrams will be received. For this, click on Extras>Options->Communication->Configure Interfaces->Select KNX/routing. The multicast address is reserved: 224.0.23.12 and port 3671.

Click OK and then click on Test button to see if connectivity over IP to the router is fine. Once its tested OK, point to the online icon in the menu bar to check if the bus is alive.

Upon doing this, you would see 15.15.1 default address on the bottom of the window.

Download interface device To download the pr5 file communication objects onto the NBM, right click on the Cisco NBM device in the topology window and then click on Download option. In the new window pop up, select the Cisco NBM and click on Download Application Program.

Diagnostics: Individual Address This is used to check if the devices with specific physical address exist in the installation. Click on Diagnostics->Individual address.

Enter the specific physical address, click on Flash on/off and check if the LED is on/off in the actual device. Then click on Check Existence. Read/Write values Right click on any data point and click on read/write. The value to a data point can be set on the pop up window that follows and telegrams can be tracked on the group monitor.
