(1) Day of Prayer For The Nation - August 3, 2013 The first Sabbath in August has always been designated as a day when the church prays for the nation. We invite the church to prayer for our leaders, the family, the security force, and for a reduction in crime and violence in the country. It is also strongly recommended that distribution of the Great Controversy be incorporated in the day's activities. Please see flyer below from Pastor Dudley Hosin, Prayer Ministry Coordinator - JAMU. (2) Elders and Pastors Family Fun Day Set For August 25, 2013 NB. Please read in this week's announcements . The East Jamaica Conference Elders' Association invites members of the church to bring their families and make it a big family fun day on August 25, 2013 when elders, pastors and their families will have a day of fun and relaxation with the family at the Mico University College Playground, 1a Marescaux Road Kingston 5. Come join us in a game of cricket, football, table games and ring games as pastors, elders and church members interact in an atmosphere of love and fellowship. Make it a day for the family. Assorted food items and snacks will be available on sale. -1-

Please be reminded/take note of the following:


1. East Jamaica Conference School of Evangelism: A) General class meetings: July 21, August 18 & September 22, 2013 i. SOE Workshop - July 21, 9 a.m 12 noon in the EJC boardroom for all interests: Site coordinators, general facilitators, volunteer facilitators/ instructors & Personal Ministries leaders are especially invited. Bonus material will be given from the recently conducted General Conference Big City SOE. PLEASE TAKE YOUR REFRESHMENT. All Community Services leaders will meet at 12:30 1:30 p.m. to discuss plans for the Family Fun Day & Brunch, lunch will be provided. b) Examinations October 20, 2013 c) Sabbath School superintendents and Personal Ministries leaders are reminded of the end of quarter report which is due on the 10th of July 2013.

4. SOE & Lay Workers Institute 2013, November 13-15, 2013 @ Golden Acres students of the
School of Evangelism (SOE) and delegates chosen for your churches should begin preparation now.

5. Grand Festival of the Laity Hagley Park SDA Church, November 16 & 17, 2013 plan to be in
attendance! Please contact the office at 924-1061-5 for further details.

6. Belated birthday greetings to our seniors, born January to June, & happy birthday to our July
celebrants; wishing you good health and long life. (4) Notices from the Children's Ministries Department 1. We need help. God is good. Our prayers for visas for our missionaries (children and youth) are being answered. We ask you to assist us so that the contingent of 30, some of whom have not yet realized their airfare, can be a reality.
2. Child Preachers training session will be held on Sunday July 28, 2013 from 9a.m. 1 p.m. Kindly remember to practice your punch line. This is your last big class before graduation. All CMDs are asked to register our children 6 years and over for the KIDS in Discipleship Training.

4. CMDs, register your Jewels now for the special KIDS in the Kitchen forum. Included in this is a special seminar package for our Jewels. This will be held October 24-27, 2013 @ Holiday Inn Resort, Montego Bay. A contribution- $6,000 including return fare. This will cover the cost of transportation, seminar package, presenters and facilitators. Kindly call the office for details. -2-

Childrens Ministries Emphasis Day and Child Preachers recognition Day August 3, 2013. CMDs you are asked to recognize those children who have been engaged in the ministry ( child preacher, childrens day preachers, etc.). You could do this during Childrens Story Time.

6. ASI Missionaries to Costa Rica depart Norman Manley August 1, 2013 for their 3 weeks mission trip. 7. VBS package is available. Contribution $1,000 & $2,000. Consult your Pastor & Church Board and pick up your package thereafter. Those who require VBS certificates are asked to request this in advance. The CD for Adventure with Jesus is now available. 8.

With Gods help, We will either find a way or make a way. (5) Notices from the Women's Ministries Department 1. We need help. God is good. Our prayers for visas for our missionaries (children and youth) are being answered. We ask you to assist us so that the contingent of 30, some of whom have not yet realized their airfare, can be a reality. Are you looking for a place to advertise your product or service? Here is the opportunity. Kindly call the Womens Ministries Department of EJC on or before August 26, 2013 for details. WMDs, kindly send us the names of the GEMS that your church board is sponsoring for the 4 day retreat/ seminar for October 2013. We need to book their place in the first batch of 120 persons at the cost that is advertized. There will be a new rate after the first 120 room spaces are filled. Mistaken Identity Churches that wish to take advantage of this impactful, timely presentationbeneficial especially to our young females are asked to call the office or Sis. Paula Holmes. Abuse Prevention Day in all churches Sabbath, August 31, 2013. You are asked to remind the congregants. A short one minute statement can be read by the church clerk or a statement put in the bulletin. All married females who desire to experience a Christ centered heightened spousal relationship are asked to get involved in the I.M.A.P. program in your churches which is coordinated by the F/L and WM Departments. Parents, please make the rules clear to us so that we can align our actions with your expectations. Remember, obedience is better than sacrifice. We love you.

(6) Notices from the Youth Ministries Department


(a) Summer Camp :- The annual summer camp will be held from August 13-20, 2013 at Robins Bay. Cost has been reduced to $6, 000 (includes a T-Shirt). Groups of five will enjoy a further 5% discount. Each church is being asked to send a delegate.

Youth start planning to be there. Last year was great but this year promises to be greater, more fun, fellowship and spiritual nurture. Summer Camp is for everyone not just members. Registration closes on July 26, 2013. Summer Camp Application Forms can be accessed from the EJC website. Click here. ABSOLUTELY NO LATE FORMS WILL BE ACCEPTED!!! See poster below for further details. (7) Accommodation Options for Overseas Particpants to Singles Convention. We are delighted for the positive feedback from persons outside of our island home who have shown interest in attending our Singles Convention. Contact was made with the Knutsford Court Hotel who have provided us with special pricing for persons who will be visiting the island to attend this event. (8) Special Events Happening in some of our Churches Meadowvale SDA Church The Meadowvale SDA Church will be having a Career & Development Expo on Sunday July 21, 2013 at the church under the theme " Discovering Pathways and Possibilities - Creating a Brighter Future". The expo will offer attendees to improve the chance of getting in to the Career of your choice and will explore Educational opportunities. Representatives from the Ministry of Labour & Social Security, Versan Educational Services and Scotia bank Representatives will be there. Zone Four Youth Federation The Zone Four Youth Federation will host its Sports Day on August 1, 2013 at the Seaforth High School beginning at 9:00 am. Members of the various churches in Zone 4 are invited to wear their respective colours. See flyer under Upcoming Events for further information . Morant Bay SDA Church The Bay SDA Church invites the church to join them in worship on Sabbath July 20, 2013 when they will host their first Transport Operators' Day program under the theme ''God our Protector". It will be a day of power packed and Bible backed preaching interspersed with inspirational and soul stirring gospel music. Representatives from the Transport Associations across the island will be in attendance. See flyer below for further details. -4-

Christ the Answer Gospel Campaign Begins on Sunday July 21, 2013. The church is invited to pray for and visit "Christ Is The Answer" Gospel Campaign which begins Sunday July 21, 2013 on the grounds of the New Haven SDA Church, 17 - 19 Columbus Drive, Kgn 20 with Evangelist Collin Lyons and team. Allow me to turn the spotlight on the Seaforth SDA Church Communication Team again who this week produced and posted their second video in the series "Talk About Jesus People's Program". The video was posted on the EJC website this for all to see. I invite other churches to venture into similar paths. Feel free to use your gifts and talents to document and showcase the work of the church. Social media like Youtube allows us to record and post material and messages for others to access at their own convenience. I again encourage you to watch and listen to our postings on the ejcsda.com website on a regular basis. The video portal is on the front page at the bottom right hand side. Note also that all our video postings can be viewed by visiting the EJC You Tube Channel which can be accessed from the ejcsda.com website (on the extreme left hand side) below the facebook icon.
