Enhancing safety and circulation

Proposal commissioned by Palermo Harbour Authority, developed while resident at Italo Rota Studio Palermo, 2007. Interior update proposed resolve both circulation and safety lacks affecting the main city travellers hub. Functions are added to enhance bulding in- and out- bound attractives. Acting along marine creatures typical behavior, interior elements are designed in form of colonies and schools.

Walk through stories

Concept, Project, Construction, Setup commissioned by Expo2008 Committee, architectural construct developed under art direction of Italo Rota exhibition edited by Rinio Bruttomesso and Joan Alemany Llovera graphic artworks by Giorgio Camuffo, EBoy {demolished in 2009}

Zaragoza, 2008. In context of Universal Expo, Ciudades de Agua Pavilion was suited for hosting a specific exhibit. Contents were focused on water intended as a world-wide recognized resource for city planners. Success stories and interactive games are set along a twentyminutes long footway. Visitors promenade was entirely designed to be protected from sun overheat and rain without any real seal. Circulation project granted queue-free access even on critical opening days.

Senigallia, 2012. Park, public spaces, parking and circulation for ongoing urbanization process. The site, formerly occupied by Italcementi industrial plant, is expected to become a new bridge between downtown and urban beach.

Milan, 2012. A artificial hill is set to accomodate terrains (obtained by digging the inner network of waterways of Expo2015 park). Visitors will find a Mediterranean bio-diversity show-case climbing onto it. This proposition for tender competition offers several tweaks to be applied to preliminary project, fitting a sticky geometrical scheme to accessibility and thematization issues.

La posa di 100 esemplari in famiglie da 10 favorisce il contenimento delle sottostrutture necessarie al fissaggio. Tramite i dispositivi di registrazione possibile variare altezza e inclinazione delle vele. Dimensioni dei pannelli illustrati in figura sono1905 mm x 1180 mm (lunghezza x larghezza) e spessore da 32 mm. In variante concava e convessa, curvatura raggio 3,28 m.

Milan, 2012. Scope of this work (needed to join a competitive tender) is focused on techinical upgrades choice and rendering. Hidden devices and added performances do have invisibility as a qualifyng factor; effective drawing helps to visualize feature introduced, in order to catch commissioners attention on crucial details.

Mantua, 2009. Palazzo del Podest is a eight-storeys palace-like complex, grown in a very long sedimentation from XI to XVIII century. Even if joined with two neighbour palaces by bridge galleries, it still has a critical lack of vertical connections that make it impossible to use it for modern functions. Project uses some localized chinks between built solids to allocate three non-invasive stair-objects.

Lifts and stairs are designed self-structured, safe and fire law compliant. Distinct circulation paths will allow separating visitors from users, thus defending workflows integrity; at the same time, through a number of glimpses observer perceive urban pictoresque diversity. Renovation project is aimed to carry in Mantua central heart Mayors offices and City Government Chamber, mixing together with a institutional exhibition gallery.
