important operation by this the quality of the produce can be improved. In that lighter particles are carried away by the wind and heavier grain may settle down. This is done but with limitations that they cannot be done during days without proper amount of wind. Now-a-days the winnowing process is done by machinery. The

olden days throwing the threshed produce across the path of wind is done so

winnowing can be done for all the crops as cereals, pluses oil seed and combine harvester , grain separator etc.. Operation

Seeds/Grains are fed into a feed hopper, where they are evenly distributed and screen, grains are subjected to primary aspiration which drains off chaff, layer for separation, according to width and thickness.
