26 July 2013 Stevenage Instructor receives award in Korea.

British Taekwondo Instructor and Examiner and Head Instructor of Stevenage Taekwondo, Master Andy Jeffries, recently travelled to Seoul, South Korea in July to attend a masters training course held by the World Taekwondo Headquarters. Master Jeffries trip began with a private training session with well respected instructor, author and World Champion Grandmaster Ik-Pil Kang. Master Jeffries commented: Training with Grandmaster Kang was an amazingly eye -opening experience. The power this small guy can generate was just phenomenal, but even more impressive was his ability to teach very technical details of martial arts power using a mixture of English, Korean and hand signals. Then came the International Taekwondo Master Training Course, a 5 day course of over 8 hours each day covering topics including martial arts techniques, sports fighting, history, leadership theories, conditioning and first aid & injury management. The said course ends in a written examination and a physical test in front of a th panel of 5 9 Dan Grandmasters on the floor of the World Taekwondo Headquarters. Master Jeffries added: The physical test was one of the most nervous moments of my life. Whilst Id spent many years preparing to attend this course and had studied hard during it, being evaluated by some of the highest ranked and most senior Taekwondo Grandmasters in the world is daunting to say the least. Through assisting some other Masters from different countries with their techniques and at the final graduation certificate presentation, Grandmaster Man-Kyu Bang of the World Taekwondo Headquarters presented Master Jeffries with a separate citation certificate for outstanding performance among the trainees. Being selected for this honour, one of 20 given among the 126 Masters and Grandmasters attending the course from around the world, is such a highlight in my life ad ded Master Jeffries. After the course Master Jeffries 6 Dan was appointed a Regular Member of the World Taekwondo Leaders Forum for a second year running, (one of only a handful of people to do so) at Seoul City Hall.
