SYPNOSIS

Budak Pailang is an action movie film that exposed the reality life of teenagers gangsterism, the Pailang kids. The word Pailang brings to the story of Badrul (Aeril Zafrel), a gangster and a bully. Rhodi (Niezam Zaidi) is a weak nerd, who has been the favourite for the Pailang kids to bully on. Though, Rodi who cant take the bully no more has paid a group of gangster to hit up Badrul while he was hitting on She (Wawa Zainal). From that particular incident, Shee and Badrul started to have feeling for each other and fell in love. At home, Badrul is more of being the quiet one and his mother, Esah, labels him as the useless one. The poverty hes been facing has lead him up to the other phase where he begin to get involved in drugs dealing and cooperate with Alex (Zul Handy Black), a well-known drug dealer. Badruls life has changed since that where he became more wealth and richer than ever. Though, it last just till he thought lost Shee. Its a wakeup call for Badrul himself and he determines to change to the better but theres too many obstacles for him. Can Badrul change to be better and leave his past, the Pailang life?

STRENGHNESS

Mainly, the strength in this movie is action as it shows the gangterism among teenagers in high school. From the start it has showed the action that suit with the title and genre of it. Nowadays, the audiences are more likely easily attracted to action film, and most of the scenes in this movie have the element of fighting and martial arts. The main actor, Badrul, a boy that has been called Pailang or a gangster has proven that he can play the role well as a gangster. This movie also shows the strength of love between the two hearts, Badrul and Shee. Although Badrul is a gangster and a drug dealer, deep down she knows that he have a kind heart and willing to protect her with his. One on the scene the part where he gave Shee a necklace that he got from one of his customer and another scene where Badrul gave his money to Shees father as he tried to take her very own daughters money shows that how much he loves Shee life. After he graduated from juvenile school, Badrul still searching for Shee and hoping that she could give him a second chance to show to her that he could be better than before. Despite from that, in this movie shows a true friendship. Badrul doesnt forget about his friends in achieving wealth together for a better life as he let his friends joined him in drug dealing. After graduate from juvenile school, his friends help him I finding and getting a better job for him. A job that he could starts a new life and nothing to do with his old past life. In the end of the story, his friends help him to save Shee from Alex trying to kill her. Badrul and his friends shows a true friendship and loyalty among themselves in the movie, where they go through many obstacles together.

WEAKNESS

When theres strength theres a weakness, and it goes the same for movies. Sometimes the weakness can come from the script, storyline, characters and others. In this film, Budak Pailang, where it also have the weaknesses that the film maker not aware about it. Firstly, the weakness is obviously comes from the words or language that the film maker and script writer used. The use of language can be circumstances to make the film better. In this case foul words or language such as haram jadah, mampus or bodoh and many more words that been used in this movie is inappropriate and it may influence the viewer especially towards children. Especially when it could also affected the way of communication among the viewer or society. Secondly, this is from my point of view where I think this could be an important part in the film which is about camera static or angle. Maybe the cameraman or the director purposely make it the camera view looked as in rushing mode in some scene. But this may lead a bit of confusion and hard for the viewers to understand some of the scene part as its goes the same even for me. Lastly, in the scene where Badrul and his friends beat up Rodi and one of Badruls friend Awang peeing on him. This scene may be occur the sensitivity of the viewers especially Malaysian because from the perspective of Islam it is forbidden to pee on people because it is dirty and rude. The scene itself has shown the negative impact towards viewers especially Muslim people.

PLOT

From my point of view the plot or storyline of this movie is good because it has the sequel or continuous from one story to another story. This story started with Badrul and his friends after graduated from secondary school and always like to beat up Rhodi and steal his money. The story continued when Badrul met with Alex, a well-known drug dealer, join him and became a gangster that is most frightened by other. At the same time his in love with Shee, a normal and polite girl but have to bear a burden to live with her father who is drug addict. The story went very smoothly until it reached the climax where Badrul has been caught up and enter the rehabilitation center. Its a wake-up call for Badrul himself and he determines to change to the better but theres too many obstacles for him. Then, he searching for Shee but end up he found out that Shee cooperate with Rhodi and turns to be a gangster and also working for Alex just like his old times. Badrul always approached Shee to convince her to come back to the right path and succeeded to give an impact to Shee as she made a decision to give all the information about the Alexs drug operation to the police. Alex knew that Shee told the police everything about his illegal activities and kidnapped her to bait Badrul while torturing her. Badrul and his friends come to Alexs house to save Shee. At last Alex shot Shee and ran away but luckily police came at the right time. Alex was caught and luckily Shee is survive after has been shot. In my opinion its quite a good movie as its give a motivation and impact to the viewers perspective about gangster and dealing drugs. This movie could give a lesson to youngster in setting up their live in the right path.

SYMBOLIC

The symbolic from this movie occurs when Badrul lift up Shee when she had been shot by Alex and he remembered everything that he did with Shee. The symbolic shows that the moments of Badrul with Shee where it is the most precious thing in his life and Shee is become part of his life. That is why the symbolic is occurs.

JUDGEMENT OR RATING

I think this movie is good and suitable to be watch by adults. With some actions I think this movie has fulfilled the objectives of this Budak Pailang movie.
