RAM Structural System V9.02 (Quick Review): Click on RAM Structural System shortcut from Butler Explorer / Butler Tools / Design / Primaries / RAM Suite. Select Help - About to verify V9.0.2. Use Help - Help Topics to review Help. Select Tools - RAM Defaults Utility. Double click on Hardware Lock. Should have 192.168.5.97 for Subnet Mask. Select File - New from menu. Should default to C:\scratch as default file location. Create a project called Test. Select Criteria - Master Steel Tables from menu. RAMAISC should be the default selection. Lozano and China tables should also appear in the listings. Also select Criteria - Design Steel Tables and verify that RAMAISC is the default selection for Design Steel Tables for beam and columns. Select Model icon on upper left side of screen. A window may appear saying that a license is being searched for. Select Options - Set Defaults. Verify that 50 ksi are the default yields. Eccentricities should have the top and bottom buttons selected for strong and weak axiss and 0.0 inches for distances. Cancel from Options screen and exit Modeler to return to RAM Manager. Select File - Open from menu. Should default to C:\scratch as default file location. Select S:\RAM\Tutorial\Class Tutorial #2.ram file. Select Criteria - Master Steel Tables from menu. BldgDiv table should be highlighted. Also select Criteria - Design Steel Tables and verify bldgdiv is selected for Design Steel Tables for beam and columns. Select Model icon on upper left side of screen. A window may appear saying that a license is being searched for. appear.

Select File - Exit from Modeler to return to RAM Manager. Do not save changes when prompted. Select second item on toolbar on left of screen called Beam Design. If no changes were made in the Model, it will go directly to a blank screen. If changes were made, select Perform Design All Automatically after Framing on the screen that appears. Select Mezz from the drop down box on top left of the screen. A mezzanine layout should appear.

If beam sizes are not shown on layout, select View - Show Design from menu. Select Reports and click on Screen so that all reports can be previewed from the screen. Select Reports - Map Floor. Select Beam Designs (with no other options), Landscape Orientation, Text factor 1.0. Select Print and see if it prints OK. Select Reports - Takeoff. View the report. Total weight of beams should be 19125 lbs. The total weight of joists should be 30191 lbs. Close review. Select File - Exit to exit Beam Design module. Select the fourth item on toolbar on left of screen called Frame Design. It will search for the one of the two network licenses of RAMFRAME. A 3-D view of the building should appear.
