Why doesn't Christopher like the picture of the Case of the Cottingley Fairies/Sir Arthur Conan Doyle?

Christopher doesn't like Sir Arthur Conan Doyle because he believed in the supernatural. In The Case of the Cottingley Fairies, two cousins had 5 photos of themselves playing with fairies. People believed them. But Sir Doyle, when interviewed, said he believed them. Later on in life, a magazine interviewed the cousins and they admitted that they faked the photos. Christopher concludes that you shouldn't believe in anything that isn't necessary, like the supernatural.
