ROLES FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

Service Provider
1.1 Provides adequate care to mothers during the childbearing period: antepartum,
intrapartum, postpartum stages.

1.2 Attends to normal deliveries ensuring safety and comfort for both mother and baby.

1.3 Provides adequate care to a normal child during the pre-natal, intra-natal, neonatal and
infant stages.

1.4 Provides family planning services.

1.5 Provides primary health care to individuals and families in the community.

1.6 Gives health teachings to mothers on: nutrition, hygiene, health promotive practices,
disease prevention, infant care and feeding.

1.7 Gives appropriate first aid measures to clients as needed.

1.8 Implements, health programs of the Department of Health following proper protocol.

1.9 Makes timely and appropriate referrals.

2.1 Manages a barangay health station.

2.2 Cooperates with other health, professionals in the provision of health services to clients.

2.3 Supervises barangay health workers in the implementation of the maternal-child health
programs of the Department of Health.

2.4 Performs professional responsibilities based on acceptable standards.

2.5 Supervises the mother in providing care to herself and her infant care.

2.6 Participates in activities directed towards

ANTEPARTUM

INTRAPARTUM

9. Assesses the progress of labor accurately.

10. Interprets correctly the signs and symptoms of labor.

11. Assists the mother during the normal delivery of the baby.

POSTPARTUM

18. Assesses accurately condition of the mother immediately after delivery.

NEONATE AND INFANT

28. Assesses accurately the condition of the neonate immediately after birth.

28.1 Takes the APGAR score and vital signs (TPR).

28.2 Obtains anthropometric measurements i.e. BW, BL, head and chest circumference.

28.3 Checks reflexes.

29. Detects deviations from normal.

30. Makes necessary and timely referrals.

31. Performs relevant procedures following proper protocol.

31.1 Cord care-immediate and daily

31.2 Eye prophylaxis

32. Conducts home visit following proper protocol.

33. Supervises mother in providing care to the infant.
