GarryUnfollow Follow Garry Garry Smith For a VT with two secondary windings the VA rating of each winding can be 1 when the other winding is not loaded or 2 when the other winding is also supplying it's rated burden. You need to check the manufacturers data to confirm how they have applied the rated burden. The main thing to note is that since both windings share the same core the loading of one winding may effect the ability of the other winding to supply its rated burden. 2 months ago Unlike Like

KUnfollow Follow K K S Hi gary-In my situvation i canot avoid simulataneous burden(Both the core will be loaded). I need up to what value i can load the secondaries so that error will be within the limits. The value of burden will be specified the manufacturer or any calculations has to be done 2 months ago Unlike Like

GarryUnfollow Follow Garry Garry Smith Hi K S, No need for any calculation, you just need to trawl through the manufactures data sheet to see how they have applied the burden. This should have been specified by the purchaser prior to manufacture. If say the name plate burden is 100VA, then this could mean each winding can supply 100VA at the same time (simultaneously) or 200VA and 0VA. It could also mean that one winding can supply 100VA if the other is supplying 0VA (non-simultaneously) or 50VA each. I would try to contact the Engineer who specified the VT or the manufacturer, if the information is not readily available. 1 month ago Unlike Like

EricUnfollow Follow Eric Eric Stark k S hi, traditionally the VA burden rating is the max burden you can apply to any part (pri or total sec.)

of the VT, regardless of the number of secondaries. just be careful not to use the secondaries in the same burden circuit and keep polarities correct Hope it helped, Eric Stark RNItechnology Sr. Eng.
