Athens VBS 2013 Day 1 morning skit Dion is seated by the road, begging.

. Callias walks through the crowd, calling out the following lines and interacting with people as he walks. He doesnt see Dion. Callias: Tonight at 6 at my house everyone is welcome! Come gather with other believers. Youll know many people there. Come learn more about God and His love for you! Callias continues walking until he accidentally trips over Dion and falls. Dion: (Angrily) Hey! Watch where youre going! You just stepped on my foot. And stop that ridiculous yelling. No one can hear me with all your noise. Hows a guy supposed to beg for bread around here? Callias: (Standing up) Im so sorry I didnt mean to do that. Im just out inviting people to Dion: (Interrupts) Yeah, yeah everyone is sorry. Everyone feels bad. But no one really cares. (Mumbling) The story of my life. Callias: (Confused) I dont understand. Dion: No one understands. Everyone was sorry when my parents died. Then everyone was sorry when I went to prison for stealing food for my brothers and sisters. Now everyone is sorry that I cant find any work. But no one trusts a guy whos been in prison. No one hires someone like me. Everyones sorryuntil they find out what Ive done. Callias: (Kneeling down) Well, maybe people just dont know how to talk to someone whos a little different from them. (Thinks for a moment) You said you cant find work, which means you dont have any place to be tonight? Dion: (Angrily) Is that supposed to be funny? (Sarcastically) Gee, my social calendar is so busy. Hmmm, let me think. Ill be here begging until 5:30, but then Im due outside the Scribe Shop to beg there! Callias: (With a big smile) Im not trying to be funny just friendly! So nothing is really stopping you from coming to my house tonight? Dion: (Suspiciously) Isnt that with all those new what are they called Christians? (Looking around at the crowd) I dont know (Points to some VBS kids and lowers his voice a little) They seem a little strange. And Im pretty sure they wouldnt be too excited to see someone like me. Besides, what would I do with the rest of my oikos? Callias: (Pulling Dion to his feet) My friends will welcome you, I promise! As for your brothers and sisters bring them along, my friend! Everyone is welcome, no matter what youve done or who you are. Lets stop at the Food Market and Ill pick up some dinner for us. (Starting to walk away with Dion) What do your all like to eat?

Athens VBS 2012 Day 1 afternoon skit Dion is talking to Ariston, who is a beggar. Dion: I know exactly how you feel. Ariston: How can you? You have a job, an oikos, a life. I am here with nothing! Dion: Oh, my friend, not so long ago, I was begging in this same spot. Ariston: You!?! It cannot be! Look at you. Fine clothes, clean appearance. How can this be? Dion: I met someone who invited me to his house. He bought me and my oikos dinner and welcomed me into his home. Ariston: No one would do that for me. I am nothing to all these people. Dion: Yes, I understand your feeling. But I have learned that the One True God loves me. Ariston: Well, sure, after you got cleaned up Dion: No, before! Ariston: What!?! Dion: It is true. I went to the mans house. He fed me and my brothers and sisters, and then we went to a meeting at another mans house. His name is Paul. He told us about Gods love for us and how He showers us with compassion. Beggar: Well, He may shower some people with compassion, but not me. Dion: Why do you think that? Beggar: Isnt it obvious? I am here begging. Dion: Yes, but God sent me to talk to you today. Come, my new friend, let me buy you a meal. Beggar: Really? No one has ever offered to feed me before As they start to walk away, Callias walks toward them. Callias: Dion?! I hardly recognize you! And who is this? Dion: Well, oh, how embarrassing! I do not even know your name! Beggar: My name is Ariston. Dion: Ariston, this is Callias. He is the one that invited me to his house that fateful day. Callias: Nice to meet you, Ariston. Dion: I was telling Ariston that the meeting you invited me to changed my life! Not only did I find out that the One True God loves me of all people but one of the men there gave me a job! Callias: Thats wonderful! I am so glad to hear things are looking up for you! Dion: Psalm 145:9 is true the Lord is good to everyone even me!

Callias: And how is the rest of your oikos? Dion: Oh, they are doing very well! They have met new Christian friends that are so kind and caring. God has truly showered us with compassion through His people! Ariston: I am very curious about this God you are talking about Dion: Well, I dont know much, but I will tell you what I know so far Say, Callias, why dont you join us! Callias: I would love to! They walk off talking about the Lord
