This have been unfortunately

This have been unfortunately still the leadership of working in which people are
running after the feudal elites as savior of exploited people.More so, after the
creation of Pakistan the Pakistani people are left at a distant from the corridor
of power. so that the ruling elite can do packed what they wanted to do in favor
of their interest, leaving the Pakistani people at the mercy of circumstances.

An Open Invitation for the change of system in pakistan.
Dear Sir/Madam,
An open invitation to all patriotic people of Pakistan, including women, youth,
labourer, farmers intellectual and god feared person, nationalist and progressive
people and media, to come forward , read, under stand and decide ,why should
Pakistani join the Islamic Democratic party and take the rain of leadership in
their hands for the Socio-political change in Pakistan
Explanation of the IDP programmed for the change of socio-political system.
Q.1. Why one more new party, in present of many parties in Pakistan?
A.1. Quaid-e-Azam gave us a separate home land by the will of Almighty Allah on
14th August 1947. The Muslims got a separate country, where the Islamic laws are
accepted. And the Muslims live in the Islamic atmosphere. But after getting
independence since 60years, the sacrifices of those killed in getting Pakistan
looks futile. After Quaid-e-Azam and Liaquat Ali Khan death, the ruling parties
want to make their voters their subordinates and create disturbance by in the name
of language, religion and nationality, which directly led to the hate, ignorance
and poverty within society.
In democratic societies, political parties play a significant role in articulating
citizens' aspirations. Upon gaining people's support and electoral trust, they
serve as a vital link between the state and society. However, Pakistan's elitist
political scene portrays a totally different picture. There are over 90 fringe
political parties cherishing religious and nationalist ethos and some of the
mainstream political parties struggling for breathing space to survive. Even if
the country appears to be fertile land for growth of political parties, owing to
multiple factors, very few would fit into any strict definition of a proper
political organization which could reflect the aspiration and desire of the
people.
Political parties in Pakistan have remained underdeveloped, courtesy the low level
of development of Pakistani society, authoritarian political culture, and an
imbalance of power between the powerful state and weak political institutions.
Consequently, political parties have failed to contribute substantially towards
democratizing the Pakistani state and society. Presently, most of the parties are
passing through a critical phase of their existence.
Since Pakistan’s inception, the combination of self-interest and Islamic politics
has complicated the problem of building a political organization with broad
responsibilities to the larger society.
Since the 1950s, the Islamisation of Pakistan has been sustained not only by the
religious parties but more so by the mainstream parties and the military who have
always used the religious card as a convenient tool to garner public sympathy and
secure legitimacy for their regimes. The Muslim League used Islam as a political
tool during the freedom struggle to bring the Muslims together against the Indian
National Congress and its vision of an Independent India. After 1947, the
interference of the clergy in politics or their utility in politics has been
enhanced in a structured manner in Pakistan by the ruling elite on whom the
responsibility of shaping Pakistan's political future rested.
On the other hand, the ethnic factor has played an important role in Pakistan's
political history. Pakistan, being a multiethnic state, needed to evolve an
adequate system of representation and a just and equitable distribution of power
and resources in order to maintain ethnic peace and harmony. However, the
dominance of the state structure, especially the bureaucracy and the military, by
one or two ethnic groups, tended to augment ethnic tensions and violence. This
practice is still on rise.
The progressive parties tried their best to impose the western culture and
traditions in Pakistan. This led to the misfortune of people. They never win the
hearts and minds of people.
It is the demand of time, to empower the people. In this way, we can face the
attacks from internal and external elements. It is not a time for sloganeering.
There is a need for skill development. Pakistan should be equipped with modern
skills to meet the future challenges. But, the dilemma is that:
• political parties working in the name of democracy did not trust common
Pakistanis for sharing power,
• political parties working in the name of Islam did not trust common Muslims for
sharing power,
• provincial Nationalist parties did not trust common men in the province for
sharing power,
So, who will trust the common Pakistani whom the country belongs to?
According to the vision of the father of the nation, Pakistan was to be a
democratic country based on the concept of equal citizenship for all Pakistani,
irrespective of their colour and creed, as per Jinnah's vision, but the dream of
our father of nation did not come true even after 60 years, therefore Islamic
Democratic Party accept this challenge to empower the Pakistani the country belong
to at grass route level for peace, prosperity and dignity of Pakistani.
Q.2. Why the IDP wants the Decentralization of power at grass route level, how it
works?
A.2. Since the creation of Pakistan the Pakistani people are left at distant from
the corridor of power so that the ruling elite can do what they wanted to do in
favour of their interest, leaving the Pakistani people at the mercy of
circumstances. As this policy is denial of right of Pakistani people to rule their
country according to their aspiration and desire to built this country, which can
provide equal opportunity to all without any discrimination for the establishment
of welfare society. Only the society base on tolerance, equality and justice can
be the real guarantee for the prosperous and strong Pakistan there for your
intention is invited to the crucial movement which could be the point of
distraction or disaster.
Therefore, IDP is submitting herewith, the substitute management structure before
you, which not only empower the Oppressed, but provide them justice and complete
safeguard. This also leads to the prosperity. Islamic Democratic Party is
committed to the establishment of a welfare state in a country where people can
have political freedom, economic opportunity and social justice. Where in the
provinces will be based on democratic division and centre, on the democratic
provinces. A comprehensive overhauling of our society is required, in order, to
deliver the benefits of a welfare state to the mass. This means that the state
must play an activist role in the economic and social revival of our country.
The main power place of this management structure is that place, from where
councillors are elected. Despite of election from any part of division, the
councillor will have to obey the majority decision of the committee. This
committee will include the people from different part of its voting constituency.
The committee will take all decision pertaining to the area with majority and at
the same time, look around the performance of the councillor together with
providing guidance to the councillor. The councillor will report to the divisional
counsel about the majority decision for the development work in his area to be
included, whenever the divisional council will decide for that at divisional
level. The councillor will be answerable to the divisional council as well to the
area committee for his performance.
The entire elected councillor in the division will be the members of Division
Council. They will select a mayor by majority votes. Mayor will be a head of
Divisional Council. He will supervise the activities of Divisional Council and
will be answerable to the council and mass thru media. The decision power will be
performed by the majority votes of Divisional Council. Members of the Divisional
Council will arrange a Mushawratee/Advisory Committee, comprising of experts from
different walk of life, intellectuals and religious leaders. This committee will
give technical advice to the Mayor for development works, while the religious
leaders will be responsible to maintain unity and peace in the area.
The divisional council will pass on their decision to the mayor then. Mayor will
get advice and assistance from the Mushawratee Committee the Mayor will then again
present it in council for approval of the majority council member, once approved
by the council then masses will be informed through media for their valuable
opinion, objection or alternative if any. The matter will then pass throw the
advisory committee and come to mayor .The mayor will submit the plan again to the
council members for final approval and implementation.
Q.3 How, the elected member of the council and organization within the division
will be make answerable?
The main power place of this management structure is the place, from where
councillors are elected. Despite of election from any part of division, the
councillor will have to obey the majority decision of the committee. This
committee will include the people from different part of its voting constituency
and known as executive committee of the councillor. The committee will take all
decision pertaining to the area with majority, under the councillor but, at the
same time, look around the performance of the councillor together with advisory to
the councillor. The councillor will report to the divisional counsel about the
majority decision for the development work in his area to be included, whenever
the divisional council will decide for development work at divisional level. The
councillor will be answerable to the divisional council as well to the area
committee for his performance.
The services organization, under divisional council or within the area of
division, such as provincial or central organization and involved in providing
services to the people of the division. All those, organization should be
answerable for that purpose to the divisional council, they are accountable and
answerable for their services in the area of the divisional council .The
divisional council will constitute committee from the council members, consisting
upon representation from all the district of that division .The divisional head of
the organization will be accountable to the committee and committee will be
responsible and accountable to the council. Because the committee members are from
all the district of the division they too are answerable to their district and to
the people of their constituencies. The Islamic Democratic Party has been
consistently advocating the creation of vibrant local self government
institutions; this will bring government closer to the people and make it more
responsive and accountable.
Q 4.How the divisional council will provide basic guarantee?
The Divisional Council being an independent organization, which will be
responsible to look after the employment and provision for better vicinity to the
people settled in that particular division. The DC will be responsible to lead the
division towards development and equip the citizen with all social requirements.
The primary responsibilities of the Divisional Council will be as under;
• Provision of employment / Trade union activities
• Formation of Educational and Technical centres
• Establishment of Research Institutes
• Providing pleasant residential atmosphere
• Providing health facilities
Employment opportunity:
Divisional Council will provide job opportunities to the people living in its
limits. They will follow the policy approved by their representative at the centre
for providing job opportunity to every citizen at divisional level. For that, DC,
will not finance only for industrial development and expansion of the social
services but encourage the small and medium, industries for that purpose, further
develop the new industrial zone with all facility along with easy excess to
market, water and sewerage and electricity and also provide financial help with
protection to the business and their capital. The council will also provide
individual with technical expertise guidance and finance in collaboration with
local financial institutes under active supervision of the area councillors.
Beside this small retail business will be encouraged at all level with a
nationalistic approach, be local and buy local. Easy excess to raw material,
recycle material will be made possible.
Trade Union:
The growth of trade-unionism and the rights of trade unions will be promoted in
all sectors of industry. ILO standards will be enforced as the maximum essential
for the protection of the workers. It will be possible to offer the workers
genuine participation in enjoying the fruits of rapid industrialization and
increased production. Participation of workers and technicians in factory
management will be progressively introduced. As a necessary part of their
employment in factories, the workers must be provided with housing and adequate
means of transportation to their places of work. The union within the
factory/office or work place will be authorize the negotiation regarding internal
working condition or safety requirement or matter related to working hours
.Because the Divisional council will provide and take all responsibility for the
worker and his family. The union will not allow disrupting the production process
in any case. As the welfare system is depending on the continuous flow of the
production and increase in national income.
Formation of Educational and Technical centres
The skilled workers will be supplied by the educational institution, and
technological feed back will be provided by the research institution that will
help the organization to reduce cost of product with better quality product.
Quality of higher education has deteriorated with exodus of qualified
professionals and continues decline in the professional capacity of faculty
members. Applied research is almost non-existent. For a country of 165 million,
there are limited universities in the public sector and the private sector with
approved charters. The Islamic Democratic Party is determined to launch a national
education movement based on equity to achieve increased access to quality
education along with technical know how of education at all levels. Separate
educational institutes will be developed for the women with equal opportunity.
Establish Research Institutions.
It is a nation of one hundred sixty five million diverse people ranging from
having skill within, having no opportunity to utilize the skills, and those who
need help and guidance for development of skills to utilize. Pakistan is a melting
pot of creative ideas and god gifted skill. But it needs organized planning and a
system to develop and utilize these skills for rapid development in
industrialization and agricultural sector.
Pakistan has great talent, but it only needs guidance and resources. That’s why we
are compelled to use external technology. It is necessary to establish research
institutes at every divisional level. This will lead many Pakistanis to a right
direction and will create prosperity. It will also increase a growth rate here and
will directly cut prices of many products. A cost effective model is needed to
raise the level of education across this massive research network. This research
work will reduced our dependency on out side world.
However, the youth of Pakistan is still under its formative phase, they have the
ability to increase vast production processes and providing substantial training
to the mass in all parts of the country. Pakistan had to facilitate vibrant
economic opportunities by curbing corruption and partiality, responsible to derail
democracy, and deny the development as per aspirations of Pakistani.
Healthy environment:
Establishment of parks, community centres, play grounds, libraries, schools,
hospitals, industrial homes and arts councils will be the responsibility of
Divisional Council. The extraordinary residential environment, recreation power of
the community and society will increase the working ability and will be prove as a
centre of peace and prosperity. The reckless policies of the past without due
regard to environmental concerns has put considerable pressure on the environment
and natural resources, so vital to the future generations of Pakistan.
Free Medical treatment:
Without a healthy nation, there can be neither development nor progress. Improved
health contributes to greater productivity and reduces the healthcare burden on
the economy. Our health system has failed to provide adequate heath care to the
people. Despite increasing demand, public sector preventive and curative
healthcare services are in tatters. Divisional Council will be responsible to
maintain health policy in each division. The Islamic Democratic Party will
progressively increase state spending on health. It will also be a duty of
Divisional Council to obey National Insurance Policy approved at centre. All
private and government departments will have to insure their employees under the
National Insurance Policy, so that they may get compensation in case of accidents
or other disasters.
We intend to harness the energies and idealism of the youth to act as the
locomotive of national change. The youth would be the focus our education, health
care, and economic plans. Under a national youth policy, they would be actively
involved in rural reconstruction, drainage and sanitation, social forestry, public
health awareness campaigns, environment protection, and adult literacy.
Q.5. How the IDP will look at the law and order and educational need together with
student’s union activities?
The security of the life and property of citizens is one of the primary
responsibilities of the state. The recruitment in the police station will be from
the councillor’s area controlled by the PS i.e. if the PS is responsible for three
councillor’s area the recruitment will come from that area only. The reason is, if
the police is local person he can be easily answerable to the councillors for his
activities in the PS, therefore if any antisocial activities pointed by any person
/resident that can be easily traced by and come under control The recruitment will
be on merit and develop a training and indoctrination system that orientates the
police towards helping citizens. The SHO will directly report to the elected
councillors of his area, and divisional head of the police will be answerable to
the divisional council and mayor.
Educational organizations:
Local educational institutes will appoint local qualified teacher so that they can
develop good friendly relation based on respect and dignity. The teacher will be
responsible to transfer the knowledge to the student honestly and the students has
the right to acquire the knowledge he deserved .if any things happened in between
the process of transferring the tacit /knowledge the unrest between the students
and teacher will start, it will be the duty of the area councillor to involved and
settled the grievances of the institution with protection of teachers dignity and
respect and right of students to get right knowledge.
Each class will elect one representative and all class representatives will elect
president general secretary and treasurer at the school level to represent the
students.
Higher Educational Organizations:
Highly qualified people from the Divisional Council will be employed in higher
educational institutions. For a better educational environment, students will be
allowed to form union. The union will play a role of watchman and will try to
create better environment in the organization. Students will have to consult Mayor
to solve their differences. Neither students nor teachers will have the right to
call for strike, as any loss or damage to educational process will effect the
future of students on one side where as on the other side society as a whole will
suffer the future loss of talented cadre.
Q.6 How the IDP will guarantee protection of women’s right and equal opportunity
in job and education?
A.6 .Everyone has the right to live with, liberty and security of the person.
Woman is entitled to equal rights as citizen of Pakistan and live in a family,
which is the natural and fundamental unit of society and is entitled to be
protected by society and state. The women power in Pakistan is nearly 52% of the
population, but while considering the status of 'women' in Pakistan, our women
still look like to be living in the dark ages. Their right for acquiring education
and economic freedom is not encourage; it is a matter of deep distress that being
Muslims we have completely forgotten the status of women given by Islam, as per
teaching of our beloved prophet, Mohammad (P.B.U.H) that women are dignified,
respected and secure in Islam than in other faith. Women are more protected by
Islam then by the faith and society which preaches monogamy. Islam was the first
religion to recognize the equality of sexes and granted women all rights, 1400
years ago, in those early days of Islam.
But since the creation of Pakistan the rights of women were ignored just as
similarly as the rights of Pakistani to rule this country and decide the fate of
their own future. After the independence of Pakistan the socio-political system
does not change, little or no reform were carried out and therefore the status quo
of the society remain the same as it was before. The feudal remain in power as
they were before, under the rule of British Empire and even before them.
The survival of the feudal system remains in brutality, ignorance, illiteracy and
poverty’s it is the system to be blame for humiliation, exploitation and cruelty
with women’s. The right of women cannot be protected till we provide ample
opportunity to women for uplift, such as education with skill development and an
opportunity to utilize that kill to enhance economic activities such as their
participation in the production and services in the country.
We must feel proud in developing and implementing our values and stop looking at
the west as passage/light for women’s right, women is most exploited in the west,
in the name of democracy and equal rights, the freedom allowed in the west is not
for the protection of women from exploitation and maintain the dignity. Even in
these modern world women is being humiliated in socio-economic and cultural front
by the dominant man power. Everybody is talking about the women’s right with
special reference to job, education and equal opportunity in the society with
dignity and respect. But, Women’s are being exploited even since the commencement
of modern society. At work place in the factory, in search of job and better
chances to avail for better income and prosperous life, even in the offices women
are exploited by the influential people, one way or the other.
The most exploited women’s are from working class due to economic problems, middle
class in order to maintain fake standard of living and the upper class for the
sake of enjoyment of life and for getting rid off frustration in their social
domestic life.
It is true that women in Pakistan have never been disassociated with the struggle
for democracy. However, the women's gained more maturity in its understanding of
national issues because of this interaction and participation in the movement for
democracy, women have been engaged in the debate on insecurity and instability and
its links to critical domestic condition.
Pakistan is an Islamic state, where people, not only take pride in strictly
adhering to the Islamic values but are ready to sacrifice their loved belongings
for the glory and sanctity of Islam. Islam has accorded a highly respected social
position to women. Islam acknowledges the rights and privileges of the women in
society. Likewise, Islam does not impose any restrictions that may hamper the
social growth and development of the woman within the framework of Islamic
society. A woman is equally important member of society. The woman plays a vital
role in building the society on healthier and stronger foundations.
The women in Pakistan have been constantly complaining of having being isolated
from the mainstream of society. Women feel disillusioned on being maltreated by
the male-oriented set up in Pakistan. They strongly claim that if they are given a
chance, they can contribute more positively towards the development of all social
aspects. Pakistani women are at crossroads and need a serious concentration on the
route cause of exploitation of women’s right; the reason, the route cause is the
prevailing system in the country which is needed to be changed. The current
democracy and the representation of women within the assembly does not represent
common Pakistani women, they are part and partial of rich and feudal families.
Therefore, Islamic Democratic Party has decided to give back dignity and respect
to the women, but that dignity and respect cannot be achieved without the change
of socio-political system in the country. However, to give back honour and dignity
to the women, we are suggesting to the women of Pakistan;
• Education and Technical knowledge to be provided to every capable woman in
separate and safe environment.
• After enhancement of knowledge and skill, provide safe and separate environment
for women to work and join national production force.
• A guarantee for job opportunity should be provided to every woman wanted to work
in safe and separate environment.
• When, 52% women power will join production and services sector, national gross
production /services will increase and so the increase in revenue.
• Working women will earn for the family and bring happiness to the family and so
the self satisfaction, dignity and respect within the family will increase.
• A separate working environment reduces the objection from the male member of the
family.
• An educated mother can train new generation in better way and be a supporting
partner in family as and when needed.
• Being earning member of the family, self confidence of women will enhance and so
the intrinsic skill will further developed.
• The medical facilities and insurance coverage should be provided to every
working woman.
• Equal participation in political wing for women in the political parties.
• Only the society base on tolerance, equality and justice can be the real
guarantee for the prosperous and strong Pakistan.
Q.7. How the IDP inclined, encourage and develop youth force for the benefit of
society?
A.7. The role of youth in the rebuilding of Pakistan should be envisaged and
elaborated in such a way that it becomes easy to address the grievances and
suggest ways out of it, so that a new era of dawn can be started. Since the
creation of Pakistan, the Pakistani is deprived of their basic right to rule this
country according to their aspiration and dream. At the same time, the real
strength for the development along with their internal skill i.e. the youth power
of Pakistan was left alone in isolation at the mercy of circumstances and their
basic right to get the development opportunity without any discrimination was
denied. Pakistan is a country of diversified culture and traditions. It is a
nation of one hundred sixty million diverse people ranging from having skill
within, having no opportunity to utilize the skills, and those who need help and
guidance for development of skills to utilize. Pakistan is a melting pot of
creative ideas and god gifted skill. But it needs organized planning and a system
to develop and utilize these skills for rapid development in industrialization and
agricultural sector.
Though the youth of Pakistan is still under its formative phase, they have the
ability to increase vast production processes and providing substantial training
to the mass in all parts of the country. According to the vision of the father of
the nation, Pakistan was to be a democratic country based on the concept of equal
citizenship for all Pakistani, irrespective of their colour and creed. As per
Jinnah's vision, Pakistan had to facilitate vibrant economic opportunities by
curbing corruption and partiality. Although this speech was censored by those who
wanted to create confusion, derail democracy, and deny the development as per
aspirations of Pakistani.
The Youth of Pakistan, the "Nation Builders", are also nullified and ignored in
sharing the rewards given to us by our mother land. The country, which was
established, after countless sacrifices of our forefathers, to attain the liberty,
prosperity and peace, simply, for being free and prosperous Pakistani. But, In
return, our rulers have given this country nothing but a gloomy future, poverty
and betrayal. As a result, our youth has been co notated as “Young Seagulls”
trying to fly without feathers towards their destiny. Pakistanis in their quest
for real freedom continue to struggle to get free from the shackles of ruling
elites, encircle us. Whenever a person rises up for something new in his mind, it
is pressed down as being a "rebellious thought".
The question is, to what extent such a paralyzed mind and body can serve the
nation? In fact, the "Nation Builders" themselves need overhauling and ample space
to fly. Unless and until, we develop an optimistic thinking and unshackled of the
chained, our journey to the country's prosperity cannot reach its destination. We
should not lose the right path for the fear of being followed by absurdities and
unfair means, like a dark shadow. Islamic Democratic Party has decided to give the
rain of socio-political change in the hand of new generation in Pakistan. IDP
wants them to read and understand the program and come forward to lead this party
at grass route level to decide the fate of their future destination and take power
in their hands.
As the Pakistani people, have been left at a distance from the corridor of power
so that the ruling elite can do what they wanted to do in favour of their
interest, leaving the Pakistani people at the mercy of circumstances. This policy
is an outright denial of the right of Pakistanis to rule their country according
to their aspiration and desire to build this country, which can provide equal
opportunity to all, without any discrimination for the establishment of welfare
society. Only the society based on tolerance, equality and justice can be the real
guarantee for a prosperous and strong Pakistan.
Islamic democratic party has accepted this challenge to rationalize the system
from its base of centralization of sole power, controlled by the feudal and mighty
elites, to the new base of decentralization of power in the hands of Pakistani at
grass route level so that the route cause of deprivation, hatred, poverty and
underdevelopment could be eliminated and Pakistan can become a prosperous,
developed state without any discrimination. Under the name and banner if Islamic
Democratic party (IDP), the power should transfer at divisional level within the
provinces with financial, administrative and political power to establish real
democracy in Pakistan. The divisional council will be responsible for providing
the basic guarantee for the people living or settled in the division with
transparency and accountability of the public representative and institution,
where in provinces should be based on democratic division and the centre should be
based on democratic provinces. There will be no politician in the senate but
experts form all walks of life, including religious scholars assuring that no law
can pass in NA against the law of Allah.
We have already lost the major part of Pakistan in 1971 simply to save the
centralized sole power to exploit the resources of this country, they let the
country breaking, in a part then allowing the mass to rule this country
democratically. In the present circumstances they are again dragging our
sovereignty at stack for the external interest in the name of national interest,
instead of our interest i.e. the interest of Pakistani at large.
The only way out of these crucial circumstances is to empower the common Pakistani
at grass route level i.e. the change of system. This change is inevitable for the
prosperous Pakistan. To provide an alternate socio-political system to empower the
mass at grass route level for rapid industrial and agriculture development with
transparency and accountability in the system. Along with basic guarantees for the
creation of welfare state, where in public representative and institution shall be
answerable and accountable to the masses.
Q.8. How the IDP tackles the Corruption and Quality control system?
A.8. Corruption Committee:
Corruption Committee will be formed to assist institutes fighting corruption in
the country. The committee members will be from all the district of the division,
their job will be to stink any thing wrong within the construction process or
payment of uncertified work or any kind of understanding during any deal or
commitment for corruption at production process at industrial level and dig out
the rout cause .The committee will be accountable to the divisional council of the
area. All financial and other experts will be assigned this job to protect the
society from the cancer of corruption.
Quality Control:
In order to look after the development work and production of consumable
/industrial components of any kind within the divisions, a quality control
committee will be formed consisting upon / comprising of experts from all the
district of the division. After their verification for the quality work/products
according to the international standard, the payment will be made possible and
consumable products as per specification mentioned on the label could be released
in the market for consumer use. This committee will report to Divisional Council
and will be accountable for that work, payment and quality verification involved.
Q.9.How the Cooperative farming will help to solve the problem for providing cheap
food products in the market?
A.9 Cooperative farming: Pakistan is an agricultural country. Agriculture is
traditionally considered a rural activity. However with rapid change in rural-
urban migration, the demographic scene in the country has changed radically.
Greenhouse production, dairy, poultry and food processing plants, and the
production and marketing of pre-cooked foods etc. have acquired tremendous
importance. We must therefore recognize urban agriculture as an important
component and specifically prepare manpower for this activity. Islamic Democratic
Party will set up a network of service centres for farmers at Division level and
reforming land acquisition laws and computerize land records, ownership and all
other relevant information
However, IDP will initiate and inclined all the farmers within the division to be
members of the Co-operative without any discrimination weather small farmer or big
one, which will be run by experts along with the representative from the members
of the cooperative, the council will provide them useful information about the
corps and support to the cooperative. Divisional Council will protect the
interests of the farmers and consumers. All the government unused land in council
area will be allotted to the farmers for cultivation. The council will provide all
financial help, mechanical help seeds agriculture expertise, irrigation and market
services to the cooperative. It is our utmost desire to increase irrigation area
through construction and optimal use of water through small, medium and large
irrigation projects within division from beginning to end the network of cannel,
required water will be supplied to the farming areas, Providing reasonable return
to the farmers and cheap food supply to the consumers.
All the members of the cooperative will be responsible to work on their land, in
other case the land less farm labour will work for them and be given payment by
the cooperatives from the earning of those particular land owners. The farmers
will be trained in all respects by the cooperative. At the end of the day the
total production will be sold to the group of the business people at a price with
reasonable profit. In turn the business group from the chamber of commerce will be
responsible to supply the product at reasonable profit to whole sellers and wise a
versa to the retailers alternately the product will reach to the consumer at price
they can easily afford .The mass production with mechanical, use will produce the
production in huge quantity and therefore will be possible to provide it to
consumer at cheap price defeating profit mongers and stockiest exploiting the
market demand and supply rule. At the same time agro industries will be developed
to utilize the by product of the farm and generating employment in the rural area
and more revenue will be generated.
Q.10. Where did the IDP, generate the required funds for basic guarantee and
development?
A.10. For a prosperous and stable government, resources play a backbone role.
That’s why taxes are implemented worldwide. Pakistan's tax system is unfair,
complicated, and takes money out of the pockets of the poor to pay for the
extravagant lifestyle of the ruling elite.
Taxes are inevitable to support government programmed, but should the poor
continue to bear a larger burden? According to this programmed, every division
will be responsible for tax collection for the division, province and the centre
in its respective area. From this total tax, 40 percent will be kept with
Division, 20 per cent will be given to the province and 40 per cent will be
provided to the centre. Beside this, income from the underground resources will
also go to the council and distributed accordingly to the province and centre.
An Islamic Democratic Party will encourage and motivate citizens to create wealth
and share part of their hard-earned income by paying tax, which will be used by
the Divisional Council for the establishment of welfare state.
More generation of revenue will come from mass industrialization of small, medium
and cottage industries. Retail and whole sell businesses and all those working;
will share their contribution for the increase in revenue, which is to be use for
the welfare of the society. We will develop a transparent system for revenue

their share in the development process .So far the collection process is concern
all those working for other will be involved to realize the dream come true.

A.11. No, the provinces will be based on democratic division and centre, on the
democratic provinces .Provincial government will be comprised of the equal members
of Divisional Council (councillors). All the councils will provide equal members
for the provincial Assembly. While doing so divisional council will make sure that
the members elected through voting must be in equal numbers from the entire
district within the council. The vacant post in respective area will be replaced

For stable democracy, it is the need of time to create sense of responsibility
among mass which can only be developed by their active participation in to the day
to day decision making process affecting their life. It will defuse the centre of
power. Where as, relation between centre and provinces being of vital importance,
all the provinces will represent equally. The members within the provincial
assembly will be elected by the members from divisional council within but it is
essential that all the divisions get equal representation in the national
assembly. The vacant seat in the PA will be filled in by the divisions to the
province and wise a versa. The National Assembly will elect one minister from
within the elected members, who will be called the prime minister, there, will be
no more ministers in the National Assembly. The entire departments in the centre

senate has the power to stop the National Assembly decision. Other then that, the
senate did not have power to reject the National Assembly decision.

Patriotic way, to prevail “Democracy in Pakistan”…?
Dear Sir/Madam,
Patriotic way, to prevail “Democracy in Pakistan”…?
Democracy as a system of governance and interest representation demands respect
for dissent and opposition. It recognizes the principle of majority rule and
guarantees protection of minorities. Democracy also builds faith in electoral
contestation to gain public office and gives legitimacy to political parties as
primary instruments for acquisition and transfer of power from one set of
individuals to another. Democracy teaches us equality, tolerance and justice
without any discrimination to establish welfare society based on peace, progress
and prosperity.
Therefore, it is essential to denounce the killing of innocent people in Pakistan,
since it look excellent and compassionate but are we really feel sorry for that
killing of innocent people ? if it is so, then we must eliminate the route cause
of suicide killing and other hatred, being a democratic Islamic country and
people, we must think in the light of teaching of our prophet (PBH) because
killing for killing and bloodshed of innocent people, due to one pretext or other
can never gives flowers in return, peace cannot prevail in this circumstances we
must adopt democratic ways and means to settle the differences with who so ever
they may be.
In reality, factual reason behind this hate is not born by us, but borrowed by us
for the sake of US pleasure “Aa bel muje mar”. Because, those who were supported,
financed, equip and trained by the USA and its allies, and who fight in the name
of freedom of Afghanistan from occupied forces, were not aware about the truth
behind their fighting, their fighting, was to protect the interest of USA, they
were fighting a war of USA against USSR, for the political gain of USA (petrol
resources around the Afghanistan and get easy excess for ,Iran, china) and when
they realise their national interest was going to be robed, they dare to refuse,
what kind of robbery was that is mentioned in the recently release book by the
France authors.
“ French authors Jean-Charles Brisard and Guillaume Dasquie recently published a
book entitled Bin Laden: The Forbidden Truth which tells of the negotiations for
oil pipeline rights in Afghanistan that collapsed in August 2001 after the U.S.
told the Taliban: Accept our offer of a carpet of gold or you'll get a carpet of
bombs.”
Despite the fact that, “Bush administration was expecting from Taliban, to
cooperate with their plans for exploiting the oil resources of Central Asia. US
were sure until August, that the Taliban, as a source of stability in Central
Asia, would enable the construction of an oil pipeline across Central Asia.” But,
all of a sudden a trusted partner of USA, turn in to so-called terrorist?
But fortunately, the Taliban realize that their national interest was going to be
robed by USA; they dare to refuse, to accept US conditions for their support in
exploitation of oil resources from central Asia.
As a last hope in the talks between the Bush, administration and the Taliban which
began in February 2001, shortly after Bush’s inauguration. A Taliban emissary
arrived in Washington in March with presents for the new chief executive, (an
expensive Afghan carpet). But the talks themselves were less than cordial. Brisard
said; “At one moment during the negotiations, the US representatives told the
Taliban, ‘either you accept our offer of a carpet of gold, or we bury you under a
carpet of bombs’.”
USA and its allies attack the Afghanistan under the immediate aftermath of
September 11, there were press reports—against, largely overseas protest and
hiding the factual reality behind the attack on Afghanistan, they almost destroyed
remaining infrastructure and killed thousands of innocent people, such as they
attack the Iraq under wrong pretext of having the WMD and against the will of the
world to capture the oil resources and acquire a place for their continuous
presence in the middle east for their political gain. The United National has lost
its credibility as neutral authority to intervene and protect the small and week
nation against foreign aggression but instead ,UNO, proved as failed organization
playing in the hands of the brutal power intimidating and capturing the countries,
in order to grab their, resources such as OIL and to attain political influence,
while killing their innocent people under one pretext or other in the name to
“demoralized” them and to accept the terms and condition suitable for the
occupier.
At present they (US/NATO) are fighting their war of military/political interest in
the region, involving the dependent country like Pakistan, under intimidation of
sever consequences to bear, if refuse to support them; The current demand draft of
11 points, submitted by the so-called democratic imperialistic state of USA is a
clear sign to a sovereign government of Islamic Republic of Pakistan to accept and
obey as matter of master’s voice. This act is a kind of intimidation and direct
involvement in the internal matter of a sovereign state. This act create a
question as if we are really a sovereign state or part and partial of USA,
Because, they want Pakistan to fight and kill his own people under one ploy or
another, want to drag them in to the chaos and uncertainty, so that they can
further impose more condition on the Pakistani Government to follow them, dip and
dip until armed forces of Pakistan loose the trust of the Pakistani people and
come openly to fight against his own people like they did in east -Pakistan, this
is the movement they (USA) are waiting for, so that their, in time financial help
to the traitor can play the role to disintegrate the strength of the nuclear
country.
This is a moment invite us all for serious consideration weather to keep our
independence in tact or bow down before this mighty evil, democratically bullying
to accept the terms and condition of his interest, or in other words be ready to
loose our independence for ever.
How? a patriotic person can repeat, the past mistake for supporting the fight, for
external political and regional gain instead, we have already paid to much price
in the form of social unrest, ethnic conflicts, drug- addicting and arms problems
through Pakistan, If, we have to survive as a Sovereign Islamic Nation, in this
world with dignity and respect as a free nation, then we must adopt and adhere the
following essential change immediately;
• Decentralize the power on the basis of division to empower the people at grass
route level without any delay.
• Allow free, complete education with technical knowledge to every able citizen.
• Establish research institute at divisional level to encourage the youth with god
gifted skill to develop and those who are interested in research work in all
field, it is necessary step towards self sufficiency in technology.
• Provide guarantee for job opportunity to all man and women after
education/technical training.
• Rapid industrialization of small, medium and cottage industries be allowed at
the divisional level with total protection to capitals and facilities to flourish.
• A cooperative farming should be introduced at divisional level for large scale
agriculture product and development of agro-industries.
• Supply of controlled price utilities could only be possible if we follow the
mass industrial and agriculture production
• Provide separate working facilities for production and services to women, so
that majority women force of 52% can join the force of national
production/services.
• Insurance coverage should be provided all working man/women along with complete
medical treatment coverage.
• Better residential facilities be provided to all
• Export oriented foreign policy should be adopted and find markets for our excess
products in the regional country surrounding us, and provide them market place for
their excess products.
The right way to reverence to Martyr is to eliminate the causes after the
incidents. If we can redress the route cause after the suicide killing, we can
save many lives in future. The only way out is the change of system, the route
cause of all kind of grievances, the time is to empower the Pakistani at grass
route level to eliminate the socio-political injustice and strengthen the unity
within the society at large, and closing the door for outsiders or intruder to
penetrate in our society because of social unrest.
Pakistani people are left at distant from the corridor of power. As this policy is
denial of right of Pakistani igniting the unrest within the society, let the
people of Pakistan, to rule their country according to their aspiration and desire
to build, which can provide equal opportunity to all without any discrimination
for the establishment of welfare society. Only the society base on tolerance,
equality and justice can be the real guarantee for the prosperous and strong
Pakistan

The vain guard of Pakistan….?
Dear Sir/Madam,
The vain guard of Pakistan….?
The Father of the Nation laid stress on social justice in his speech. In the
historic presidential address at the session of the All India Muslim League in
1940, the Quaid-e-Azam said: Since the dawn of history, thinking people have
realized that no human society can endure which allows the exploitation of man by
man or which permits the application of different sets of laws to different
classes of people. If these things are allowed then society develops inner
conflicts. History tells us that internal strife rather than external aggression
is the greater danger for any society.
Quiad-e-Azam's love for the labor and his efforts for the cause of the workers
have generally been suppressed by the vested group within. This aspect of Quid’s
life is being sidelined deliberately. His advocacy for representation of workers
in bodies where their problems and fate is being discussed and decided; paying the
workers a living wage and fair conditions of work are as valid today as these were
in Quaid-e-Azam's life time. It is a great tragedy that in Quaid's Pakistan,
despite, his repeated warnings to landlords and capitalists, the common man, are
being ignored, exploited and suppressed.
An attempt has been made here to spotlight and focus on this aspect of Quaid's
life, so that those, who are struggling for the cause of workers and other down-
trodden sections of the society, take moral strength that they are on the right
track But unfortunately Since the creation of Pakistan the Pakistani people are
left at distant from the corridor of power so that the ruling elite can do what
they wanted to do in favor of their interest, leaving the Pakistani at the mercy
of circumstances. As this policy is denial of right of Pakistani people to rule
their country according to their aspiration and desire to built this country,
which can provide equal opportunity to all without any discrimination for the
establishment of welfare society. Only the society base on tolerance, equality and
justice can be the real guarantee for the prosperous and strong Pakistan there for
your intention is invited to the crucial movement which could be the point of
distraction or disaster. All the section of society such as common man, women,
youth and laborer etc are isolated, ignored.
In reality even now a days, millions of workers in Pakistan are held in modern
forms of slavery. Throughout the country, employers forcibly extract labor from
adults; children and women restrict their freedom of movement, and deny them the
right to negotiate the terms of their employment. Employers force such workers
into servitude through physical abuse, forced confinement, and debt-bondage. The
state offers these workers no effective protection from this exploitation.
Although slavery is unconstitutional in Pakistan and violates various national and
international laws, state practices support its existence. The state rarely
prosecutes or punishes employers who hold workers in servitude. Moreover, workers
who contest their exploitation are invariably confronted with police harassment,
often leading to imprisonment under false charges. Debt-bondage in Pakistan is
endemic and widespread, the problems of debt-bondage in Pakistan to be among the
worst in the world ,Common in the areas of agriculture, brick-making, carpet-
weaving, mining, and handicraft production. Bonded laborers in Pakistan suffer a
range of violations. These include the right not to be held in slavery or
servitude, the right not to be imprisoned merely on the ground of inability to
fulfill a contractual obligation, the right not to be arbitrarily arrested, the
right to liberty of movement, and the right to freedom of association, including
the right to form and join trade unions.
The labor and farmers have collectively formed many union and federation but
instead of getting freedom from the chain of exploiter they are further trapped in
to vicious circle. The trade union activities in different name and color of
nationality rather then being base for working class unity, fail to protect the
rights of the worker, because they to, were not united and committed to get rid of
the route cause of this problems. They involved in different type of moral and
financial corruption and divide the workers force, then uniting them for positive
change in Pakistan. They dishearten the masses and leave them in disarray.
One thing is very much clear now that the route cause of wild exploitation and
injustice to manipulate labor and farm-labor is the system prevailing in Pakistan.
But unfortunately still the leadership of working people is running after the
feudal elites as savior of exploited people.
More so, after the creation of Pakistan the Pakistani people are left at distant
from the corridor of power so that the ruling elite can do what they wanted to do
in favor of their interest, leaving the Pakistani people at the mercy of
circumstances. As this policy is denial of right of Pakistani people to rule their
country according to their aspiration and desire to built this country, which can
provide equal opportunity to all without any discrimination for the establishment
of welfare society. Only the society base on tolerance, equality and justice can
be the real guarantee for the prosperous and strong Pakistan there for your
attention is invited to the crucial movement which could be the point of
distraction or disaster.
This is a time to unite for collective action from all the section of the society,
the labor, farmer, youth and women for emancipation of society from the exploiter
of this country. Islamic Democratic Party has accept the challenge for the change
of system from centralize sole power in the hands of one or few of them to
decentralize the power at grass route level in the hands of downtrodden oppressed
people of Pakistan for that purpose let us unite on following points of collective
struggle such as;
• To provide free education with technical training (skill) to every citizen.
• A guarantee for job opportunity should be provided to every able person.
• To establish research institution at divisional level to encourage the youth
having natural skill to invent and to encourage the youth for research work in
order to develop technology at home.
• A better health facilities and insurance coverage should be provided to every
working Person.
• A better residential facility should be provided to every worker.
• A chip and safe transport facilities should be provided to all working people.
• To co-ordinate, direct and guide the activities of workers federation’s,
affiliated in industry-wise unions, in all matters directly or indirectly
affecting the workers.
• To ensure the integration of women in trade union organizations and actively
promote gender equality in activities and decision-making at all levels.
• To strive for elimination of child labor and all forms of forced/ bonded labor.
• To defend and promote at the, regional and national level the economic, social
and occupational interests of all workers.
• To endeavor to secure, improved and better relationship between employers and
workers.
• To promote and protect the interest of the affiliated units and endeavor to
secure legislative support for furthering the interests of the workers.
• To work for abolition of contract labor in all its forms.
• To encourage and promote cooperatives and socio-economic projects and services
for the benefit of the workers.
• To promote literacy and skills amongst the workers through, adult education; and
free secondary education, vocational training and technical education.
• To work for rapid industrialization of the country, together with change of
socio-political system to guarantee the rule of oppressed and downtrodden people
of Pakistan.
• To promote, protect and defend all human rights and to establish and promote
cooperation with like minded organizations of civil society for protection and
advancement of all basic rights, and to endeavor for the establishment of rule of
law, independence of judiciary and good governance.
Islamic Democratic Party, openly inviting all those believed in changing social
and political state of downtrodden people and dream them to be in power, so that
they can, decide the fate of their own future and their generation, such as, a
unions and federation committed to working class, welfare and starved for, dignity
and respect for labor and cherished treatment for all Pakistani, then ,they must
come forward and join hands with IDP, take the rain of leadership responsibility
and prove your self that you really want change, of socio-political system in
Pakistan to establish welfare state of your dream, Because, only the society base
on tolerance, equality and justice can be the real guarantee for the prosperous
,progressive and peace full Pakistan.
Kindly acknowledge your suggestion and remarks.

Pakistani Women at crossroads?
Dear Madam/Sir,
Pakistani Women at crossroads?
Everyone has the right to live with, liberty and security of the person. Woman is
entitled to equal rights as citizen of Pakistan and live in a family, which is the
natural and fundamental unit of society and is entitled to be protected by society
and state. The women power in Pakistan is nearly 52% of the population, but while
considering the status of 'women' in Pakistan, our women still look like to be
living in the dark ages. Their right for acquiring education and economic freedom
is not encourage; it is a matter of deep distress that being Muslims we have
completely forgotten the status of women given by Islam, as per teaching of our
beloved prophet, Mohammad (P.B.U.H) that women are dignified, respected and secure
in Islam than in other faith. Women are more protected by Islam then by the faith
and society which preaches monogamy. Islam was the first religion to recognize the
equality of sexes and granted women all rights, 1400 years ago, in those early
days of Islam.
They strongly claim that if they are given a
chance, they can contribute more positively towards the development of all social
aspects. Pakistani women are at crossroad and need a serious concentration on the
route cause of exploitation of women’s right; the reason, the route cause is the
prevailing system in the country which is needed to be changed. The current
democracy and the representation of women within the assembly does not represent
common Pakistani women, they are part and partial of rich and feudal families.
Therefore, Islamic Democratic Party has decided to give back dignity and respect
to the women, but that dignity and respect cannot be achieved without the change
of socio-political system in the country. However, to give back honor and dignity
to the women, we are suggesting to the women of Pakistan;
Therefore, we, invite the women from all walks of life to come forward and join
the rank and file of Islamic Democratic Party and take the rain for the change of
socio-political system in their hands to acquire peace and progress for better
life with women’s dignity, respect and equal opportunity in Pakistan.

The Youth- ONLY HOPE FOR THE FUTURE OF PAKISTAN.
Dear Sir/Madam,
The Youth- ONLY HOPE FOR THE FUTURE OF PAKISTAN.
The role of youth in the rebuilding of Pakistan should be envisaged and elaborated
in such a way that it becomes easy to address the grievances and suggest ways out
of it, so that a new era of dawn can be started. Since the creation of Pakistan,
the Pakistani is deprived of their basic right to rule this country according to
their aspiration and dream. At the same time, the real strength for the
development along with their internal skill i.e. the youth power of Pakistan was
left alone in isolation at the mercy of circumstances and their basic right to get
the development opportunity without any discrimination was denied. Pakistan is a
country of diversified culture and traditions. It is a nation of one hundred sixty
million diverse people ranging from having skill within, having no opportunity to
utilize the skills, and those who need help and guidance for Ait needs organized
planning and a system to develop and utilize these skills for rapid development in
industrialization and agricultural sector.
Though the youth of Pakistan is still under its formative phase, they have the
ability to increase vast production processes and providing substantial training
to the masses in all parts of the country. According to the vision of the father
of the nation, Pakistan was to be a democratic country based on the concept of
equal citizenship for all Pakistani, irrespective of their color and creed.
The country, which was
established after countless sacrifices of our forefathers to attain the liberty,
prosperity and peace, simply. For being free and prosperous Pakistani. But, In
return, our rulers have given this country nothing but a gloomy future, poverty
and betrayal. As a result, our youth has been connotated as “Young Seagulls”
trying to fly without feathers towards their destiny.
As the Pakistani people, have been left at a distance from the corridor of power
so that the ruling elite can do what they wanted to do in favor of their interest,
leaving the Pakistani people at the mercy of circumstances. This policy is an
outright denial of the right of Pakistanis to rule their country according to
their aspiration and desire to build this country, which can provide equal
opportunity to all, without any discrimination for the establishment of welfare
society. Only the society based on tolerance, equality and justice can be the real
guarantee for a prosperous and strong Pakistan.
Islamic democratic party has accepted this challenge to rationalize the system
from its base of centralization of sole power, controlled by the feudal and mighty
elites, to the new base of decentralization of power in the hands of Pakistani at
grass route level so that the route cause of deprivation, hatred and poverty could
be eliminated and Pakistan can become a prosperous, developed state without any
discrimination. Under the name and banner if Islamic Democratic party (IDP), the
power should transfer at divisional level within the provinces with
financial, administrative and political power to establish real democracy in
Pakistan. The divisional council will be responsible for providing the basic
guarantee for the people living or settled in the division with transparency and
accountability of the public representative and institution, where as provinces
should be based on democratic division and the centre should be based on
democratic provinces. There will be no politician in the senate but experts form
all walks of life, including religious scholars assuring that no law can pass in
NA against the law of Allah.
We have already lost the major part of Pakistan in 1971 simply to save the
centralized sole power to exploit the resources of this country, they let the
country breaking, in a part then allowing the masses to rule this country
democratically. In the present circumstances they are again dragging our
sovereignty at stack for the external interest in the name of national interest,
instead of our interest i.e. the interest of Pakistani people at large.
The only way out of these crucial circumstances is to empower the common Pakistani
at grass route level i.e. the change of system. This change is inevitable for the
prosperous Pakistan .As a citizen of this country I have try to provide an
alternate socio-political system to empower the masses at grass route level for
rapid industrial and agriculture development with transparency and accountability
in the system. Along with basic guarantees for the creation of welfare state,
where in public representative and institution shall be answerable and accountable
to the masses.
We invite the youth of Pakistan to take the rain in their hands and lead the
nation in right direction.

socio-political change in pakistan
Sir,
Dare to raise your voice for the voiceless people of Pakistan, help to empower the
Pakistani people - the country belongs too.
Since the creation of Pakistan the Pakistani people are left at distant from the
corridor of power so that the ruling elite can do what they wanted to do in favour
of their interest, leaving the Pakistani people at the mercy of circumstances. As

invited to the crucial movement which could be the point of distraction or
disaster.

Future Youth Group of Pakistan (FYG) chairperson Abbas Sarwar Qureshi takes the
spotlight on YLDA's chat-time

What do you think are the features of your liberal advocacy and of your
organization in particular that will motivate/convince the youth to join FYG?
FYG stands for tolerance, peaceful coexistence, democracy, individual rights and
freedom with responsibility, women and youth empowerment, accountability and
transparency. FYG spreads its teachings through workshops, seminars, debates and
discussions, conferences and trainings.
As the Chairperson of FYG, what are your vision, plans and strategies for FYG? Do
you have any legacy projects or programs in mind?
Ans: FYG is a budding youth organization in the country. We are mainly
concentrating on the youth related issues, especially in the field of liberal
politics. But now onward our area of working would be wider than before. We plan
to expand the network by opening new district chapters and offering membership to
new potential individuals. My vision is to convert FYG into an umbrella youth
organization to introduce a new concept of youth networking in the country.
Secondly, 2007 is politically a very vibrant and happening year for Pakistan. It
is an election year. FYG has a plan to work on "Voters' Education" project to
motivate and educate youth to fully participate in the elections. We would also be
working on capacity building of the FYG members. For the last two years FYG
members have been actively participating in "Leadership Skills", "Liberalism" and
"Communication Skills" workshops. This year we plan to offer more of such
trainings to FYG members.
Currently, what do you think is the most pressing problem of the youths in
Pakistan? How do you see FYG help alleviate the situation?
In my view 'youth alienation' and 'illiteracy' are two main problems which should
be considered as the root causes of all other issues. The Pakistan Youth, despite
having enormous potential and talent, is one of the most marginalized segments of
the society. Their interest in the socio-political issues of the country is
diminishing. Their concerns are becoming too self-centred because of the present
state of economy of the country. This is the time that we need to bring the youth
back into the mainstream of the society. FYG, through its various activities,
encourages youth participation in all types of socio-political issues; empowers
them to take right course and progress in all fields. Secondly, regarding
illiteracy and low standards of education, FYG monitors state policy on education
and regularly informs the policy makers about positive and negative aspects of
their policies. FYG, also through active campaigning, encourages parents to send
their children to schools and raise funds for the deserving students.
Where do you see liberalism in a relatively traditional society like that of
Pakistan? What role can you see FYG playing insofar as promoting democracy and
freedom is concerned?
The majority in Pakistan are liberals; generally the people are progressive and
forward looking. This is true that various traditional and social norms of the
society are against liberal concepts but still the space for liberals in society
is widening. The society itself demands fresh ideas and change. There is a great
scope of spreading liberal viewpoint among the citizens. Under such conditions FYG
has a major role to play in the society. FYG is the only liberal youth
organization which is working for liberal democracy in the country. It has been
active in this area for the last five years and we have been spreading the liberal
message among youth of the country. FYG conducts discussions, workshops and
trainings, seminars, debates and conferences where the youth have the opportunity
to interact directly with policy makers, intellectuals and leaders, and at the
same time express their ideas freely at such occasions. FYG programs provide
inspiration and motivation to the youth and we encourage their participation in
politics. FYG has its own liberal stance on all national issues and, from time to
time, informs the people about its stance through media. Moreover, we have found
that the FYG publications and website are two effective tools to educate masses
about democracy, freedom and liberalism.
One of the organization's pioneering programs is the Parliamentary Education
program for young students. How do you think the holding of this activity helped
FYG cement the political path of the participants to liberalism and democracy?
The program has helped a lot in cementing the political path of the participants
to liberalism and democracy. Previously there was no such program to introduce
young learners to political institutions and concepts. The study was an eye-opener
for the participants; it not only enhanced and improved their understanding of the
political concepts, but also encouraged them to take politics as their career.
Do you have any similar innovative activities in mind? When do you plan to start
these?
Yes, there are many projects and activities in the pipeline which are waiting for
the right time to be started.
How do you see the involvement of the youth affecing the socio-political setting
of Pakistan? How can FYG help in this regard?
According to statistics, 70% of Pakistan's population is young. The large
proportion of young people in society itself indicates the importance of youth in
the country. Active involvement of youth in any matter can change the whole socio-
political scenario. FYG's main agenda is to involve youth in the decision making
by empowering them and making them tolerant, progressive and broadminded. By doing
this FYG is constantly engaged in bringing a positive and productive change in the
society.
Being the recognized youth wing of the Liberal Forum of Pakistan, what specific
role do you play that is distinctive from your mother organization?
FYG deals with the individuals between the age bracket of 16-32, while the mother
organization caters the people above this age group. Secondly, the tasks and
activities are set for FYG are set according to the age group it is focusing on.
FYG wants to influence and change the educational curriculum of Pakistan towards
cultural tolerance and liberalism; can you elaborate on this?
FYG believes that any change in society is possible through the implementation of
right educational policies. Curriculum plays an important part in shaping one's
ideas and entire character. FYG is actively monitoring the state's education
policy; more specifically, it regularly gives its critique on the books being
taught in the schools. FYG has published, now a well-known study on 'hate speech',
which has identified hate material in various text books. This booklet on hate
speech can be termed as the pilot work to bring about change in the present
curriculum in the country. After the publication of the booklet the government has
introduced positive changes in some of the books.
In one sentence, please state how you want the people of Pakistan to regard/see
the FYG?
As a huge and vibrant network of progressive, tolerant, democratic and liberal
youth.

Pakistan (Land of the Pure) is now Faujistan (Land of the Army). It could have
become Benaziristan (Land of Banazir) if elections were held as were promised or
it could have become Nawazistan (Land of Nawaz) if Sharif Nawaz were allowed to
stay in the country after his return from exile.

Who ever has ruled Pakistan during the last 60 years has ruled it for building
personal empires and family fortunes. The power of personal cult is so strong that
no amount of criminal activity on the part of rulers has resulted in their
permanent ban from public life. So passionate are people to support even those
convicted for crimes against Pakistan, that they are willing to offer even their
lives to sustain a corrupt leader. Who would have imagined Benazir in the role of
a messiah for Pakistan after what she and her husband did with Pakistan and its
resources? (Foreign cases that could haunt Bhutto)

Martial law or emergency? It does not matter. Pakistanis once again have been
enslaved by their own fears and inability to create a political structure that
would ensure that the average citizen would have the freedom to live a decent
life. No one can point fingers at others for this situation.

Various segments of people in Pakistan have contributed to what occurred last

week.

Political parties have promoted a culture of violence. Many of the public

officials lead a lucrative campaign of corruption. Bureaucrats have created an
environment of greed. The clergy sector has thrived on ignorance. Businessmen have
excelled in deceiving the state of its legitimate taxation. The law enforcement
agencies have created a world of their own where the accepted norms and law were
violated at the slightest whim of those who were powerful.

How can one trust a political leader when he boasts among his followers, the
killing that his people engineered to silence the opposition? How can one believe
in a law enforcement system when a police officer proudly narrates his exploits in
implicating innocent citizens in crimes? How can one believe in the integrity of
an army that delivers the national resources to its top brass in order to win over
their silence?
In any society the middle class plays a key role in developing a democracy or
promoting social change. The Pakistani middle class must create a vision of
Pakistan and work for that through sacrifice and public involvement. The middle
class of Pakistan has to create either a political movement or leadership than can
prove to the people through an example that different ethnic and linguist groups
can work under a political structure amicably. If they just looked beyond their
Eastern borders they can see how India has sowed its social fabric with a
multiplicity of ethnic and linguistic communities.

There are limited examples of people working to bring meaningful solution to the
many problems that the country faces. There is the shameful issue of bonded labors
and slum dwellers. Status of feudally controlled and socially subdued women in
rural areas is disgraceful.

The prevalence of illiteracy among more than 40 percent of Pakistanis must be

given a priority. Not enough attention is being given to the youth to create a
culture of peace so that their creativity could be used for the betterment of the
country and humanity. Instead the youth are being given guns and provoked to
murder in the name of whatever suited the interested political leadership.

The level of protest by the lawyers to what the generals have done prove that
people are not willing to take things passively. The process of protest is still
to be played out but if in this process the methodology of violence is chosen by
the political parties, it will only strengthen the army. The use of violence in
responding to the violence of the rulers never produces anything constructive.

Many Pakistanis often argue that their rulers have often played in the hands of
powerful groups in Washington or London, etc, and average Pakistanis have no
control over their own destiny. While, it may be true that Washington, London or
Delhi might be keen to engineer things in Islamabad according to their interests,
but their ability to do anything substantial is limited as long as people in
Pakistan are active, dynamic and concerned about their interests.

What is the way out? A radical paradigm shift is needed in Pakistan to bring about
any substantial changes for the betterment of the country. Issues such as poverty,
illiteracy, lawlessness, bonded labor, status of women and labor, environmental
crisis such as pollution and miss-utilization of resources, deserve the same
importance as democratization of the country.

Only those who have a humble heart and a concerned mind for the interests of
average Pakistanis can really grasp the reality. Only those who have a passion for
humanity and fellow human beings can think in larger terms different from those
who always think of their interests first. It is the emergence of those people
with a long term strategy to bring about changes at the grass roots levels that
can save Pakistan from the chaos that its current leaders have created. Usually,
this role is played by an educated middle class.

Pakistan has suffered a significant brain loss and the bulk of the middle class is
outside Pakistan. Unfortunately many among these groups are divided into groups,
ethnicities, and factions replaying the politics of the homeland.

Pakistani Americans and others who are living in Europe and Canada can certainly
use their skills and love for Pakistan to provide a strong peaceful movement for
change. Pakistanis must overcome the politics, factionalism and ethnic divide that
is dominant inside and outside of Pakistan. It is essential that Pakistanis work
for the collective interests of its entire people.

The world will long remember Benazir Bhutto as a modern Muslim woman who served
two terms as Pakistan’s first woman Prime Minister: bright, attractive,
articulate, talented, courageous, charismatic, an astute politician and political
leader who called for a secular democratic Pakistan. Benazir was all of these but
– like her father Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and a number of other Pakistani political
leaders – she also left a flawed political track record that both reflected and
contributed to many of Pakistan’s problems.
Benazir Bhutto was an avowed reformer who in two terms as prime minister failed to
bring major political or social change; a leader who did little for the
overwhelming number of poor Pakistanis who live in a feudal society; a celebrated
feminist who despite promises as Prime Minister did little to improve women’s
status or reverse Zia ul-Haq’s so-called Islamization policies; a secular democrat
whose leadership of the PPP and governance as Prime Minister reflected Pakistan’s
feudal politics, with a record of widespread corruption and human rights
violations that were severely criticized by international organizations. Like her
father Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, she exerted power through an increasingly tough
autocratic style, one-person dominance or rule. She declared herself head of the
PPP for life, made no provision for leadership from among her many talented party
leaders since the PPP was to remain a family legacy as witnessed by the
“selection” of her son and husband (long-discredited by his earned reputation for
corruption – reflected in his nickname “Mr. 10%” and his imprisonment in Pakistan
for 11 years on charges of corruption – and currently under indictment in Europe).
The recent political responses to Benazir Bhutto’s assassination highlight the key
problems or fault lines endemic to Pakistani politics today, problems that have
been exacerbated exponentially in a post 9/11 world. Both President Bush and
President Musharraf were quick to blame al-Qaeda and other Muslim extremists and
to simply place the assassination within the context of the war on global
terrorism and the forces opposed to democracy. But as dangerous as these forces
are, especially with the growth of Pakistani rather than foreign fighters, this
single-minded scenario ignores the long-standing conflicting currents in Pakistani
politics: a deep seated and unresolved identity problem regarding the relationship
of Islam to Pakistani national identity and politics; the role of Islamic parties
and movements and their clashes with a westernized elite; and a strong military
that has meant more years of military rather than democratic rule, and the role of
feudal political leaders.
Although Mohammed Ali Jinnah, Pakistan’s founder and first leader, saw Pakistan as
a Muslim homeland, his more socio-cultural understanding was not that of many
other more “religiously-minded” leaders. Thus, while Pakistan adopted a Western
political structure – as Ayub Khan, an early military ruler and modernist, learned
when he had to back off his attempt to drop Pakistan’s title as the Islamic
Republic of Pakistan – many Pakistanis took Pakistan’s Islamic identity quite
literally and seriously. Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, a secular socialist, would himself
turn to Islam after the Pakistan-Bangladesh civil war, in order to build bridges
to Arab countries, counter the Jamaat-i-Islami and other religious parties, and
reinforce his popular base. However, the appeal to Islam would prove to be a two-
edged sword as the Bhutto appointed head of the Army, General Zia ul-Haq, would
use Islam to legitimate his coup, the execution of Bhutto, and the “Islamization”
of Pakistan. Ironically, years later, Nawaz Sharif would also play the religion
card in his political struggles with Benazir Bhutto and the PPP.
Where do we go from here? The Pakistan-U.S. partnership under Pervez Musharraf and
George W. Bush has proven a dysfunctional relationship of failed policies. Their
joint war on terrorism and promotion of democracy have in fact resulted in a
dangerous increase of the former and a threat to the latter. Religious extremism
and terrorism have grown in Pakistan; extremists will only benefit from the
current crisis. Islamist parties (mainstream and extremists) have increased their
electoral clout both in the 2002 elections and subsequently nationally, including
control of both the North West Frontier Province and Baluchistan. Musharraf’s
promotion of democracy (as that of the U.S. in Pakistan as in Egypt) has at best
been a fig leaf, both in terms of the manipulation of electoral politics and the
role of the military. Though Musharraf took off his uniform, the generals remain a
powerful and influential force capable of intervening at any moment. And
regrettably, the tragic death of Benazir Bhutto has resulted in a new stage of
Bhutto family feudal leadership of the PPP, only this time absent the charisma,
talents and experience of Benazir.
Moving forward will require an enlightened leadership that is not apparent in
terms of the chief players. At a time when widespread anti-Americanism (more
accurately, opposition to the Bush administration) in Pakistan has become even
more entrenched – as it has in many parts of the Muslim and non-Muslim world – one
can at least hope for the laying of some groundwork for the emergence of future
leaders. Musharraf should begin with the restoration of some semblance of
democracy by reconstituting Pakistan’s Supreme Court, announce a more specific
timetable for national elections, and seek to work more closely with mainstream
and political leaders rather than exploit the current fluid situation and thereby
contribute to greater instability. The U.S., given its political and military
power, retains the ability and leverage to play a more constructive role in
Pakistan – but that will require not simply looking for another “American
candidate” to install as Pakistan’s leader.
Many years ago I was invited to a small dinner party given by General Zia ul-Haq
at his residence for members of the U.S. House Appropriations Committee. Zia began
by reassuring us that after a long day of conversations, he would not give a
political speech. We were then treated to a long series of “reflections” on how,
given the threat of the Soviet Union and China and the situation in Afghanistan,
Pakistan was indeed an essential strategic partner for the U.S. After Zia
finished, a member of the U.S. delegation caught up in the moment commented to the
Foreign Minister, who was sitting at our table, that America valued Zia as it had
and did its other great allies: Egypt’s Anwar Sadat, the Philippines’s Ferdinand
Marcos and the Shah of Iran! The Foreign Minister smiled but looked incredulous.
Pervez Musharraf can now be added to that list. However, today neither Pakistan
nor the U.S. – nor global politics more broadly – can afford another iteration of
the same flawed approach.

I’m acutely aware of my ignorance of the complexity of Middle East history,
religion and politics so I’d like to respond to your “After Bhutto” post with a
few queries, which seem linked to broader social and cultural changes that have
been going on in the Middle East at least since the late 1970s.
Please let me start by juxtaposing a few quotes:
“… to an earlier [i.e., the early modern] age, the world of ‘full human
personality,’ replete with diverse passions, appeared as a menace that needed to
be exorcised to the greatest possible extent.”
Albert O. Hirschman The Passions and the Interests 1977
“Writers such as Clifford Geertz, Peter Berger, and Robert Bellah conceive of
religion as a special kind of symbol system which evokes a sense of ultimate,
transcendent, encompassing meaning. But what this concept does, in addition to
drawing on the social sciences, is to save religion from the onslaught of post-
Enlightenment positivism.”
Robert Wuthnow The Restructuring of American Religion 1988
The current film, “Charlie Wilson’s War,” a “comedy” and not a “history,” makes
light of the irony of Israel’s role in securing weapons in the fight of the
mujahidin against the Soviets in Afghanistan in the 1980s.
But at the end of “Charlie Wilson’s War,” after pouring a billions dollars into
weapons for the mujahidin, Congressman Wilson’s glib but ominous understatement
that “we fucked up the endgame” by not providing money for “education” alludes to
the importance of culture in social change.
The transformation of the mujahidin into the Taliban is important in part because
it implies broader, transcultural as well as social theoretical issues that have,
I think, crucial relevance to what’s going on in Pakistan and that are important
to understand if we are going to develop mutual understanding between the cultures
of the West and the Middle East.
After 9/11, there was some acknowledgment by U.S. administration officials of the
U.S.’s lack of knowledge of Arabic as a language. Yet both religion and language
are equally important keys to understanding any culture.
A September 2004 British Chatham House briefing paper, “Iraq in Transition: Vortex
or Catalyst?”, shows awareness of the ethnic and religious complexities of Iraq
and the surrounding region. In 2004, however, it seemed there was not a lot of
evidence of this kind of consciousness in the Bush administration or the national
press.
Even now, years after the shock of 9/11 and the fiasco of the U.S. invasion and
occupation of Iraq since 2003, there does not seem to be a lot of historical-
critical knowledge of the history of humanity’s major religious traditions and
their sacred texts, including Islam, as well as the complexities of international
politics of the Middle East in the present administration, State Department and
CIA.
I may be wrong on this but what administration foreign policies, especially but
certainly not only in the last eight years, seem to stress is a narrow political
realism focused myopically national security, oil and national self-interest –
culture be damned – which seems to me self-defeating.
Decades ago, Fouad Ajami, in The Arab Predicament: Arab Political Thought and
Practice Since 1967 (1981), said that the Iranian Revolution was sparked by, in
addition to the Shah’s connections to the U.S., a kind of cultural imperialism
from the West.
You say the U.S. cannot afford to repeat the mistake of making Pakistan into
another Iran. But hasn’t that already happened? Pakistan appears to be awfully
close to being a U.S. vassal.
But the problem may be even deeper.
Consider, for example, what Max Weber said concerning what he called the problem
of meaning and how the very conditions of modern societies tend to undermine moral
and religious meaning.
For example, in the “Sociology and Types of Salvation” Weber writes of a “malaise”
specific to modern women and men the source of which is the loss of a framework of
meaning in which moral actions such as forgiveness make sense. Although Weber was
focused on Protestant Christianity (Weber, The Sociology of Religion, 1991
[1922]), it seems there might be parallels in various forms of Islam in terms of
the tension between tradition and modernity Muslim cultures experience.
I’d be interested if you find this sorts of considerations helpful in making sense
of Pakistan, the transformation of the mujahidin into the Taliban and 9/11?
If so, is it possible to communicate this kind of perspective to members of
Congress, State Department diplomats and administration officials in the White
House as well as to your students in the Georgetown University Walsh School of
Foreign Service? And, if such a perspective, which recognizes the depth of
culture, is not cultivated, how can we avoid, as you put it, “another iteration of
the same flawed approach”?
If not, what is the alternative?
If it isn’t too general and abstract, do you think such a perspective – sensitive
to 1) “culture” defined as the ways in which any group or society understands
themselves and their situation and to 2) the tensions between tradition and
modernity – could make a significant difference in how U.S. foreign policy is
formulated and carried out – after Bhutto in Pakistan and elsewhere in the Middle
East?

I have read Prof. John Esposito’s comments under “After Bhutto” with interest. I
have to say that at least he has tried to print a balanced piture of Ms. Bhutto.
As a Pakistani, I do not think that the assassination of Ms. Bhutto is a great
loss for Pakistan. As you have pointed out, she failed to achieve any significant
improvements in the lives of ordinary Pakistanis. In fact, she has used both of
her terms as Prime Minister of this very poor nation for the embezzlement of
millions of dollars and has encouraged her husband Asif Zardari to become the
cancer for the Pakistani society.
She may be the darling of the western media and the establishment because she was
their puppet and was willing to forego the interests of her nation (Pakistan) to
carry out the western agenda.
The western media may portray her as a champion of democracy, but we all know that
she did not practice any democratic norms in her own party. She had no elections
in her own party and she declared herself as chairperson for life for her party.
Even in her will, she wrote that after her the leadership of the party should
remain with her spouse and descendants.
I sincerely hope that the West will learn from the assassination of Ms. Bhutto. It
should respect the will of Muslim countries to choose their own leaders without
interference from the West and to not like unelected western puppets such as
Pervez Musharraf, Mahmood Abbas or Mubarak.

Thank you for one of the most (if not the most) intelligent and reasonable
analyses on Benazir Bhutto that was published recently. Prof. Esposito’s profound
knowledge of the compexities of Middle Eastern politics makes him a reliable and
trustworthy source for all of us.

Bhutto’s death will have irreparable consequences for Pakistan. Firstly because
she was the leader of the people. What the elite of Pakistan had to say over their
drinks and cozy drawing rooms was different from what the people of Pakistan had
to say about her. She represented the voices of the poor and suppressed segment of
the society. Her two governments were marred by conspiracies hatched against her,
which she had to fight continuously — we all know that — therefore, allegations
that she did little for women are unfounded. She supported Musharraf’s government
against all odds for the Women’s Protection Bill. There is a time for everything;
a government that lasted for 18 months and another for 24 months could of course
not do what a government did after seven years in power, so let’s first be just
and practical.
Having said that, other allegations are also not based on evidence, hence, it is
needless to argue over those.
What needs to be argued is what Pakistan will be after her. Her political
assassination to remove her from the political scene has rendered us hopeless as a
nation! Indeed BB was a brave, courageous woman; we have no leader to compare with
her. Muslim League is not grounded in people, the others are nationalist parties,
Imran Khan types are going around asking people not to vote, they don’t even
believe in the political process.
Finally, her death has cast an ugly smear on us as a nation that is barbaric and
intolerant of anything that represents modernity or opposition to the mainstream.
I mourn the tragic demise of my country’s image too! Pakistan after Bhutto will be
a society that won’t have modern face, as BB represented modernity in the true
sense of the word. She has been correctly named as Shaheed –e- Jamooriat, i.e.,
Martyr for Democracy, by independent TV channels. Pakistanis have never faced such
grief. We are ashamed for not protecting our daughter; it is culturally also a
smear on us. She could have stayed abroad and run her political campaign as does
Altaf Hussein, but despite threats to her life she came back to lead the nation
and she raised new hopes in us. She inspired the Pakistani men and women, youth
and even children (the majority of protestors are youth of Pakistan and even older
children); this is significant that Bhutto’s ideology has once again been born. I
was a young girl when Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, BB’s father, was murdered. I supported
his call for ending oppression, he remained my leader after death and then his
Daughter gave us the hope no other elader could. So how naïve if anyone thinks
BB’s removal from the scene won’t affect Pakistan. There will be the youth of
Pakistan who will remember her for her leadership and sacrifice and will take her
agenda forward.
Though truly speaking, right now the PPP has been orphaned. Who will replace her
we don’t know, but untill that time PPP will be struggling again and for many
years to come. Even if it will come to power through a vote of revenge, without
BB’s leadership it will face a lot of difficulties. And these difficulties will be
reflected as difficulties for the people of Pakistan and for Pakistan as a
country. It’s naïve to say such great leadership’s loss for Pakistan won’t matter
because by saying this we are denying history, ZAB’s assassination and the result
was extension of the military rule of Zia, a draconian period and irreparable harm
to the nation which we are still suffering from, including suffering from his
Jihadis.
Leadership is so important for people, for masses. We as a nation can easily get
used to not having one and laspse into nothingness and accept dictatorship as well
as militancy. Wasn’t this the case during BB’s exile? So the aftermath of BB’s
assassination will be a lifeless nation, hopeless nation, accepting without
questioning, and our children won’t have any ideals to be inspired from. Who will
they have, Chaudhry’s Musharraf and his cronies, hair transplanted Sharif brothers
who relied on BB’s wisdom untill recently to take decisions, senseless Imran?
The whole point is it will be a country without a leadership, which actually grew
through a struggle against oppression. We will be a nation without a vision,
without dreams and hopes. And this is worst than all other issues. What a shame we
couldn’t protect our sister our daughter. I’m ashamed.

A huge problem Pakistan is having is that they’re so poor over there. So because
of that, residents have a lot of trouble making money or getting jobs, which
drains the Pakistani government coffers. With that, that makes many people
susceptible to terrorists and criminals who prey on these poor folk to do horrible
things like kill a beloved leader or cause terrorism. One of the reasons why
Musharref was able to stay in power so long was not just that he had military
backing but people had no real choice to turn to.
Then he hooked up with former President Bush and did as he saw fit as long as he
did Washington’s bidding. All that would’ve changed if Bhutto had lived and won
but the terrorists saw that they could keep Pakistan down if they took her out,
which they did sadly.
I’m hoping that now with Barack Obama as president maybe things will change
between the U.S. and Pakistan. Hopefully some good can come out of this horrible
tragedy.

You can never have a revolution in order to establish a democracy. You must have a
democracy in order to have a revolution.

The greatest revolution of our generation is the discovery that human beings, by
changing the inner attitudes of their minds, can change the outer aspects of their
lives.

Long Live Pakistan.

"Time to save Pakistan from its ruler:
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said that the ruler of a nation reflects its' people. In
other words, if the people of a nation are dishonest, so will the rulers be.
Changing rulers, even democratically, won't help Pakistan. The people of Pakistan
need to be changed! They need to become better Muslims. That is the direction that
our political parties should take. Teach the people their religion. And when the
people become better Muslims, then Allah will choose for them an honest leader.

Helping hands is better than praying lips...............
