Modafinil,sodiumoxybate,amphetamine,methamphetamine,dextroamphetamine, methylphenidate,andselegilineareeffectivetreatmentsforexcessivesleepinessassociated withnarcolepsyandprimaryhypersomnias.Schedulednapscanbebeneficialtocombat sleepinessinthesepatients.[28] Behavioralapproachesandsleephygienetechniquesarerecommended,althoughtheyhave littleoverallpositiveimpactonthisdisease.
