New York Community Activator

NEXT: A Division of the Birthright Israel Foundation connects Birthright Israel trip alumni and their peers with meaningful Jewish living and learning opportunities nationally, locally and in Israel. We are seeking a project and relationship-oriented professional to help propel our vision for a vibrant and connected young adult Jewish community in New York City. This professional will be responsible for implementing the day-to-day operations and tasks for a New York-based pilot initiative to develop, train, and transform a cohort of young professionals from local organizations into Jewish journey guides for Birthright Israel alumni. This professional will be responsible for shaping and implementing the multiple pilot components, including but not limited to: cohort training and communication, lay and professional leadership gatherings, microgrant process for guides, reporting and evaluation. This professional should be passionate about supporting Jewish engagement professionals and catalyzing connections between Jewish young adults and Jewish experiences. This is a two-year grant funded position and is based in our New York City office. Key Responsibilities: Develop the cohort of local professionals/organizations serving young adults into a strong community of practice. Initiate periodic gatherings and ongoing communication with local partners involved with the initiative. Implement the entire guide training and follow-up processes, and provide input into the design of the guide training institute. Develop and manage the microgrant application process for guides local projects related to Jewish young adult engagement. Represent NEXT at New York meetings and activities related to the initiative. Work with the NEXT team to identify trends and learnings from the initiative that may be shared more broadly with the field. Track and report all aspects of the project. Desired Competencies, Knowledge and Skills: Dedication, excitement, and passion for NEXTs mission. Ability to quickly acquire and manage collaborative relationships across the full spectrum of Jewish communal organizations. Strong communications skills. Experience managing multiple, complex projects and prioritizing amongst them, with a keen eye for detail. Demonstrated skills in tracking and reporting on outcomes. Ability to use data to analyze progress and inform decisions.

Strong Jewish and Jewish experiential education background, including familiarity with the Birthright Israel experience, as well as global and New York-based organizations doing Jewish young adult engagement. Experience working with, listening to, and motivating Jewish professionals and Jewish young adults broadly. Comfort working in a learning organization that believes in constant evolution. Comfort working with professional and lay leadership. Ability to lead and take direction. Ability to operate independently, at ease when seeking advice/input/feedback.
