21 April 2011: Indeed it is an exciting, explosive, website. It lists the scams of India since Independence - Bofors, 2G, CWG included - with colour photographs of alleged scamsters. It exposes the hidden truth about the Congress party and the dynasty. Most important for Indian discourse, it is unquestionably secular! Next, it is not even remotely BJPs work, nor Lohiites, or Subramanian Swamys, or the work of anyone who the media can dismiss as reckless, or of someone inimical to Sonia Gandhi or the UPA. On the contrary it belongs to those who Sonia Gandhi herself seems to respect a lot. Whose site is this then? Wait till the climax. Here is a telling catalogue of its explosive contents. Its star content is a video slide presentation titled India: a republic of scams. It starts off with a Brahma Challaney quote that the scams are not just corruption, but plunder of India. The fourth slide titled 2G-spectrum allocation fraud Rs 1.76 lakh crores shows a photo

gallery of nine alleged scamsters. Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh figure as the third and fourth in the row after A Raja and M Karunanidhi. The next slide contains a famous cartoon of Ravi Shankar in India Today (January 2, 2011) showing the 2G loot with the number 176 followed by an unending zeros zooming like 0000000000 - with Sonia and Singh jointly proclaiming Zero Tolerance to corruption. Mega Scam in Coal worth 26 lakh Crores

2007 when Shibu Soren was in jail and the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was holding the coal ministry. In this period Dasi Narayan and Santosh Bagdodiya were ministers of state for coal. It was under the Prime minister that the coal ministry gave out the maximum number of captive coal blocks free of cost. The most glaring and blatant fact is that the coal mines were given out free at the lower than nominal cost of Rs.100 royalty per ton of coal that would be extracted. It was done at a time when the market price of coal was over Rs. 2000 per ton. When this issue was brought to the notice of the Parliament, the government ignominiously declared that it would not allocate coal blocks further without amending the Mines and Minerals Act, 1957, which would bring in the clauses pertaining to open bidding process. Also again when the Bill was moved in the Rajya Sabha it was agreed that no further allocation of coal blocks would be undertaken unless both the houses passed the Bill into an Act. Though it was passed in the Rajya Sabha, it was deliberately stalled in the Lok Sabha for four years, and it could become an Act only in 2010. In the meanwhile the government in the most sinister manner, breached its promise to the Parliament and the allocation of free coal blocks continued surreptitiously. Actually, there was a deep conspiracy behind this ploy to keep the Bill pending in the Lok Sabha. The amendment to the Bill unambiguously envisaged that from the date of its passage, allocation of mines or minerals would be brought under the umbrella ambit of a fair open bidding process. Thus, had the Bill not been kept hanging in a lurch, the government would not have been able to propitiate its favourite private companies. Thus, in this period coal blocks to the tune of proven reserves of 21.69 billion tons was given away free to private companies and also middlemen. The Prime minister Manmohan Singh was the coal minister during this period and all this bungling and embezzlement happened under his very nose, maximum number of blocks were squandered under him only. Manmohan Singh gave away 63 blocks for free. But why did he do so? During these four years (2006-2010) almost 175 blocks were gifted to brokers and capitalists of different shades. Actually apparently, the magnitude and the seriousness of the matter and scam do not catch the eye so Chauthi Duniya decided to estimate the monetary loss inflicted upon the exchequer because of this government largesse. What came out was numbing. Actually the act of giving captive coal blocks to private companies started in 1993. The pretext of this was that the private players, in search of profit, could be lured into investing in such blocks which for the government would prove both difficult and cost ineffective to mine. This would invariably take coal production to newer heights while fuelling the economy. From 1993 to 2010, 208 blocks of coal were alloctaed for free. This tantamounts to coal reserves of 49.07 billion tons. Out of the 208 blocks, 113 blocks were given to 184 private companies for free. This amounted to coal reserves equal to 21.69 billion tons. If the value of this coal is calculated at the market price of Rs. 2500 per ton, it comes out to 5,382,830.50 Crores. If out of this Rs. 2500, Rs. 1250 is deduced giving space for Rs. 850 as cost of production, transportation etc and Rs. 400 is deduced as profit, then also the country was inflicted a revenue loss of about 26 Lakh Crores. So this is the Father and Mother of all Scams. This is surely Indias biggest and scariest scam ever as also perhaps, the biggest ever in any country in the world. During investigations Chauthi Duniya laid its hands upon a few documents that are astonishing. These documents reveal that even the CAG is aware of this scam. Question is why is the CAG silent till now? The UPA government squandered the mineral resources of the nation to which all 120 Crore citizens have an equal right. The breath-bating sum of 26 Lakh Crores could have been used for the multitude of deprived and marginalized of this country. The UPA government, since the day it has assumed power, has put out an all out specious policy faux pas. Apparently, it has been emphasizing that to propel Indias growth, it must be made self sufficient in energy resources. But the picture that has emerged is that the same government has gifted scarce natural reserves of the country to private companies and industrialists for free. This common national capital should have accrued to all the citizens but the government circumvented procedures and resorted to subterfuge in order to rob the Indian exchequer of 26 Lakh Crores. The Parliament was first kept in dark and when it did come to light the auspicious body was defrauded into believing that the government wanted to amend the relevant laws to include the process of open bidding. Actually the Parliament was taken for a ride for four years and in the intervening period the government, in sinister collusion with its crony industrialists settled all the dark deals. Looking at the amount robbed (26 Lakh Crores) it is pretty obvious how much money would have changed hands. But the irregularities do not end here. Yet another startling fact has come to light. There are certain guidelines regulating the allocation of coal blocks which were again either circumvented or turned a blind eye to. There are certain conditions which cannot be violated in any case while allocating the coal blocks. A condition is that in case of underground mines production should mandatorily start within 36 months (a grace period of 6 months is allowed if the mine falls under forested area). If the mine is of the open cast type, this mandatory period of starting production is 48 months (and another 6 months is allowed if the mine falls under forested area). If production does not commence within this stipulated period, the license stands null and void. This clause has been added in order to keep out middlemen and brokers who themselves do not need coal but wait for the right industrialist to come and then sell the mine to the latter at exorbitant prices. But interestingly, the government has not cancelled any license under this clause even when the statistics of production are dismal. This is because the government had given away many a mine for this very purpose, that middlemen may make profit. If the government was and is not in collusion with the black marketers and middlemen, why at all, in the first place middlemen were allotted blocks and secondly, why at all no cancellation of licenses have occurred even when production period has been overshot? Latter is the job of Sri Prakash Jaiswal who made no amends whatsoever. Till 2003, 40 blocks had been allocated. Out of this only 24 have started production. So why have the licenses of the rest of the 16 companies not cancelled? In 2004, 4 blocks were allotted and none has started production. Similarly, in 2005, 22 blcoks were allotted and only 2 have started production. In 2006 52, 2007 51, 2008 22, 2009 16 and in 2010 0ne block were allotted. But the report till 18th January says that none have started production. So first the government allots coal blocks to private interests. Then keep the Mines and Minerals Act pending in the Parliament, while the embezzlement keeps going on. Then when mines allocated to middlemen does not start production (they were not meant to start production at all) then nobody cancels their licenses. Now none needs to be a rocket scientist to see behind the official maze and fathom what went on between the government and middlemen. Had there been no covert collusion and nexus, only 26 out of 208 mines would not be producing. This UPA government has been ultimately specious in its dealings with the nation. First it gives the slogan of development and energy security and on the other hand squanders away one of the most important inputs of growth-coal. It gives it away for free, as gift, to its favourite capitalists and brokers. It is not so that the government did this under some unavoidable circumstances. It is indefensible. Mining Development Corporation of Maharashtra also got some free coal blocks from Coal India. These were Agarjhari, Varora, Marki, Jamni, Adakuli, and Gare palma etc. later the corporation sold these blocks to private companies thus earning a profit of 750 Crores for the state coffers. This too was a way in which the government could have gone about in the case of coal blocks but as it stands they were gifted free. It is not so that the presence of middlemen in this process is a matter of conjecture; actually a company in Maharashtra which has nothing to do with coal was allotted a free coal block which it sold for Rs. 500 Crores. Pure and simple profit without investing a penny. So the coal blocks were turned into Dalal Street wherein coal was bought and sold like shares with no accruing benefits to the people of India. Pranab Mukjherjee declared that he was going to present a budget for the common man. But what came out of his red briefcase was a mockery of common man. Having a look at that demeaning budget it comes to light that social sector was given 1.6 lakh crores. Infrastructure got 2.14 lakh crores. Defence was given 1.64 lakh crores. The fiscal deficit of India stands at 4.12 lakh crores. Tax revenue of India is 9.32 lakh crores. The total expenditure for the year 2011-12 is 12 lakh 57 thousand and 729 crores. And this single scam is worth 26 lakh crores. It means that middlemen, blackmarketeers, industrialists and capitalists were given almost twice the amount that was allocated for whole of India for the year 2011-12. It means that three years tax on Indian peoples earnings was gulped up by this single scam. This means that Indian defence forces would have been supplied for by this amount for the next 25 years. This means that Indias infrastructure blues could have been fixed for ever in just a single year with the amount involved in this single scam. And India, in this period of slow recovery from global recession, could have paid off all its debts, domestic and international in just one go. Black money stashed in foreign banks has been a headache for the people of this country, but what about this money, who will bring this back in mainstream economy if India.

At the super-specialty hospitals, heart surgeries and valve replacement are done free. The Healing Touch : The Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust, under Sai Babas guidance, undertook drinking water projects in Andhra Pradesh and Chennai. At a felicitation function, Tamil Nadu chief minister M Karunanidhi, a professed atheist, reportedly equated Sai Baba to God. I have always respected those who worked to alleviate peoples sufferings. They are equivalent to God. The chief minister said he agreed with Sai Babas words service to mankind is service to God; whether I accept God or not is not important. What is important is whether my deeds are acceptable to God, if at all God exists. From curing seriously ill patients to being present at two places at the same time, to controlling floods, to producing gold rings, lingams, vibhuthi or holy ash and other objects at will, Sai Baba has reportedly done them all. While sceptics scoff at such stories, devotees regard them as a proof of divine manifestation. Some rationalists have challenged the Baba on this account, but his own take on miracles is different. I shall tell you why I give these rings, talismans and rosaries. It is to signal the bond between me and those to whom they are given. When calamity befalls them, the object comes to me in a flash and returns in a flash taking from me the remedial grace of protection. That grace is available to all who call on me in any name or form, not merely to those who wear these gifts. Love is the bond that wins grace. He said: People may be very near (physically) to the avatar, but they live out their lives unaware of their fortune; they exaggerate the role of miracles, which are as trivial, when compared to my glory and majesty, as a mosquito is in size and strength to the elephant upon which it squats. Therefore, when you speak about these miracles, I laugh out of pity that you allow yourself so easily to lose the precious awareness of my reality. This is what he has to say to atheists: I am the embodiment of divine love; love is my instrument. There is no being without love; the lowest loves itself, at least. And its self is God. So there are no atheists, though some might dislike Him or refuse Him, as malarial patients dislike sweets or diabetic patients refuse to have anything to do with sweets. Body As Vehicle : Avatar or not, there is no disputing the scale and reach of the good work done by Sathya Sai Baba, his institutions and followers. If you lift your hand to serve, to help, to console, to encourage another, you are lifting it for God, because in every one of you is God. Even avatars have to one day leave their mortal coils behind but who is to convince loyalists who regard the Baba as God, who expect his physical body to remain mortal? Following a hip operation, Baba had declared, My body is not immortal; my message is. God-like, the Baba has given succour to millions from South America to Australia and all the regions in between. Its faith and hope that move his followers, with the strong motivation of putting service before self. And thats not a point of dissension. The body might wither away, but the message that brings hope remains forever.

A subsequent slide says that a tight control of the media is exercised so as not to expose specifically the Gandhi family. It adds, people are fooled with hundreds of Indian institutions named after Gandhi family in spite of overwhelming proof and allegations (Bofors, Quattrocchi, KGB payments, 2G) of looting the country. It also says, Rahul Gandhi was arrested by FBI in US for money laundering. Another slide shows the billion-dollar home of Mukesh Ambani, contrasting it with the slum in Dharavi in Mumbai and says Ambani gave a jet plane as a birthday gift to his wife, which, Swamy says, is used by Sonia Gandhi as private jet for secret Italy trips. The site also contains the video speeches of Swamy on Sonia familys smuggling; and on the truth about Sonia Gandhi declining the position of Prime Minister. It also carries Swamys famous article Know the truth about Sonia Gandhi where he talks on what he calls as her lies, including about her education, about the KGB payments to her family, the Schweizer Illustrierte expose of the $2.5 billion secret bank funds inherited by her, and more. Whose website then is this? The climax begins to unfold now. This is the website of India Against Corruption (IAC). The site authors say in the column About Us: India Against Corruption movement is an expression of collective anger of people of India against corruption. We have all come together to force/request/ persuade/pressurise the government to enact the Jan Lokpal Bill. We feel that if this Bill were enacted it would create an effective deterrence against corruption. Whos who of IAC is in the About us. Who heads the IAC? Hold your breath. It is Anna Hazare who, like most in the country, Sonia Gandhi too respects! Who are the others? Gujarat IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt may be positioning himself as a crusader against injustice, but his own track record on that count is a blot on the uniform. The officer was involved in planting narcotic substance in a hotel room to arrest an advocate of Rajasthan in 1996. The National Human Rights Commission had asked the Gujarat Government to pay up Rs 1 lakh compensation to the victim and Gujarat HRC twice asked the State Government to place the controversial IPS officer under suspension. The charges against Bhatt surfaced when he was Superintendent of Police at Palanpur in 1996. An advocate, Sumersinh Rajpurohit of Pali in Rajasthan, filed a complaint against Bhatt at Pali Kotwali police station. The advocate alleged that Bhatt planted narcotic in a hotel room in Palanpur, showed the room booked in his (advocates name) and then travelled all the way to Pali with a police party to arrest him at midnight. The advocate alleged that Bhatt acted on behalf of an additional judge RR Jain, whose sister was owner of a shop occupied by Sumersinh. The lady and the advocate were at loggerheads and Bhatt did the dirty work for the judge, who was later suspended. According his complaint, Sumersinh succumbed to police torture after seven days behind bars and asked his brother to vacate the shop. Thereafter, the police released him on the ground that he could not be identified in the test identification parade. The Pali Bar Association, the Rajasthan Bar Association and the Bar Council of Rajasthan raised strong protests and wrote to the Chief Justice of India, NHRC and Chief Justice of Gujarat High Court against Bhatt and Justice RR Jain. After the Rajasthan High Court rejected their quashing plea, Justice Jain approached the Supreme Court with contention that any criminal proceedings against him would require green signal from the CJI. Jain got a stay on proceedings on the technical ground, but was not confirmed as judge of the high court, and later repatriated to his original post of City Civil and Sessions judge at Ahmedabad. The Gujarat High Court, on its administrative side, placed Justice Jain under suspension. He has since then retired. But the Modi Government never acted against Bhatt despite his indictment by the NHRC and his own State Human Rights Commission. But the Modi Government again did not act against the officer. The Government informed the Vigilance Commissioner on June 6, 2004

that this case was not finalised and no decision had been taken. The Vigilance Commission again wrote to the Government to put Bhatt under suspension by a letter dated 1910-2006 but the Government again did not act. (Note: Readers are aware that the Gujarat cop Sanjiv Bhatt has openly challenged Chief Minister Narendra Modi by accusing him of wanting to teach Muslims a lesson after the Godhra train attack in 2002. The 47-year-old police officer, who is currently heading the State Reserve Police Training Centre at Junagadh, has filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court accusing Modi, and also casting doubts about the functioning of the Supreme Court-appointed Special Investigation Team (SIT) into the riots that followed the Feb 27, 2002 train burning. In his affidavit, Bhatt clearly stated that it was during this tenure that he was summoned along with other senior officials and told to lie low as emotions were running high among Hindus following the burning of two coaches of the Sabarmati Express at Godhra, in which 59 Hindus activists were killed. Kalmadi arrested in CWG scam

New Delhi, April 25, 2011: Sacked CWG Organising Committee chief Suresh Kalmadi was on Monday arrested by CBI on charges of cheating, conspiracy and corruption in connection with awarding some Games contracts and the ruling Congress wasted no time in suspending the Lok Sabha MP. Six months after the end of the New Delhi Commonwealth Games that was mired in controversies and scams, the CBI finally closed in on 66-year-old Kalmadi, the CWG's public face, arresting him for allegedly awarding illegal contracts to a Swiss firm for Timing-Scoring-Result (TSR) system for the Games causing a loss of Rs 95 crore to the exchequer. A beleaguered Kalmadi's arrest was announced after his more than four hours questioning at the CBI headquarters, his fourth since December last, over the alleged irregularities related to the award of contract to Swiss Timekeeping and the Queens Baton Relay (QBR). The agency also arrested two other OC officials Surjeet Lal, deputy director general (procurement) and A SV Prasad, joint director general (sports) in the same case. Kalmadi, who came to the headquarters of the agency here on Monday morning, was arrested at 1530 hours, a senior CBI official said. Kalmadi, an MP from Pune, and the two other officials will be in CBI custody tonight and they will be produced in a court on Tuesday. The CBI registered a case under section 120B (conspiracy) read with Section 420 (cheating) IPC and other relevant sections of Prevention of Corruption Act in the case, an official said. "The CBI has today arrested the then Chairman of OC of Commonwealth Games-2010 for conspiracy to cause favour to a private firm based inSwitzerland in awarding the contract for Timing, Scoring and Result system at an inflated cost of Rs 141 crore," CBI spokesperson Dharni Mishra told reporters. Kalmadi's arrest came weeks after his close aide and OC's secretary general Lalit Bhanot and director general VK Verma were arrested in the same case. CBI officials said more arrests would follow in the case. Shortly after Kalmadi's arrest was

announced, AICC general secretary Janardhan Dwivedi said the Congress has suspended Kalmadi. "The disciplinary committee (of the Congress has suspended Suresh Kalmadi from the membership of the party," Dwievedi said. Problems also mounted for Kalmadi in the sphere of sports administration after his arrest with the Union sports ministry writing a letter to the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) asking it to consider appointing a new president to replace him.

But the clergy led by Ayatollah Rohullah Khomeini got jittery and plotted ouster of Shah and ultimately succeeded. According to an internet report, Dr Ali Sina, a leading ex-Muslim of Iranian

origin states that every totalitarian regime has an abrupt end viz., Fascism, Nazism, Communism etc. Dr Ali dubs Islam as a worst form of totalitarianism and this will collapse abruptly before the end of 21st century. I have no doubt as the report suggests, it is the Iranians who will take lead in banishing Islam from their country for they were the one of the first victims of aggressions and atrocities by Muslim Arab invading army.

CWG scam: Kalmadi a small fry, says BJP

New Delhi, April 25, 2011: Not satisfied with the arrest of former Commonwealth Games Organising Committee chairman Suresh Kalmadi in the CWG scam case, the opposition on Monday went ballistic against the government, saying it needs to act against others as well. While the BJP said Kalmadi is only a small fry in this matter, the Left believes the arrest has come a little too late in the day. "Kalmadi is just the tip of the iceberg. There are more names mentioned in the Shunglu Committee. Whoever those people are - ministers or CMs - actions should be taken, otherwise, the arrest will just be an eyewash," said BJP chief Nitin Gadkari. BJP spokesperson Nirmala Sitaraman, who also maintained 'Kalmadi is a small fry in this matter', said, "The CBI should expedite the matter further. Any delay will lead to further loss of evidence. The CBI must find out who else are behind this scam." BJP general secretary Vijay Goel said, "Why has Delhi CM Shiela Dikshit been spared. She should resign immediately and be arrested soon." Janata Party leader Subramanian Swamy said he was happy to see the government act on the scam. "I'm happy. At last Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has come into his zone and has shown that he has zero tolerance on corruption. Certainly, this is not an ordinary arrest. He is a very prominent politician. I think Kalmadi will do great service to the nation and to himself if he turns an approver in the case and tells us the whole story. He is a very small player in this. I know he has been under consistent pressure by some very important people to partake with the projects and make them sub standard." "This arrest is on expected lines. In fact, it has come a little too late. Finally, the law has to take its course. Due to tremendous pressure, arrest has been made. Many more have to be interrogated and if necessary, arrested. Govt could not reply properly when questioned on what action it will take on the basis of the Shunglu report. The Congress can claim it is distancing itself from people like Kalmadi, but it needs to do some serious introspection," said CPI leader D. Raja. Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari said, "The response is very clear who set up the Shunglu Committee. The day games concluded, the inquiry took place. Mr Kalmadi was asked to leave the Congress Parliamentary Party. Concurrently, the CBI also started investigation."

The disdain with which leading lights of the anti-corruption movement - Mallika Sarabhai, Medha Patkar, Kavita Srivastava et al - are publicly threatening to dislodge Anna Hazare from the leadership role because he praised Narendra Modi's rural development work in Gujarat indicates that the poor man was only being used as a convenient symbol that can be discarded as arbitrarily as he was chosen to lead the 'movement'. Human rights activists can retain their credibility only as long as they remain steadfastly non-partisan. To the person killed, it matters little whether the murderous mob was shouting 'Lal Salaam', 'Har Har Mahadev' or 'National Unity' as did the mobs that massacred over 10,000 Sikhs in north India following Indira Gandhi's assassination. However, the secular brigade shows a consistent soft corner for those who kill under the Maoist or communist banner as well as those who verbally profess secularism. Narendra Modi's acts of commission and omission during the 2002 riots deserve the strongest of condemnations. Those crimes need to be impartially investigated and the guilty punished. Just as we are proud that our democratic system ensured a fair trial even for a publicly identified ISI-associated terrorist like Kasab, so also we should let the courts take the Gujarat trials to their logical conclusions. Those who ask for Modi's head would do well to remember that hordes of Congressmen in Gujarat gleefully joined the BJP and RSS goons who went around massacring innocent people. The overall track record of the Congress in this matter is no better, if not much worse, than that of the BJP. In addition to the 1984 massacre of Sikhs in north India, it masterminded numerous other riots through the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. None of the killers of politically engineered riots in Meerut, Malliana, Bhiwandi, Bhagalpur, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Surat and scores of others were ever punished. The Congress also injected terrorism into Punjab by its covert support of Bhindranwale's Khalistani brigades in order to wrest control of the SGPC that presides over well-endowed gurdwaras. It did incalculable harm to the Sri Lankan Tamils by creating a Frankenstein's monster like the LTTE. The secessionist movement in Kashmir owes its origins and draws sustenance from the Congress party's penchant for rigging elections to install puppet chief ministers. And yet, even those of us who genuinely want to see the guilty among Congress leaders pay for their crimes do recognise that there is a lot more to this premier national party than a legacy of mayhem and massacres. There are times when the Congress party has actually lived up to the highest values of Indian democracy and some of our best contemporary politicians have emerged from the Congress fold. Due to their ideological predilections and cosy relationship with the Congress high command, most of those attacking Hazare have a history of acting as the fighting arm of the Congress against Modi and the BJP. But to declare Hazare a political untouchable because he is not

as ideologically committed to their brand of secularism is to display deadly arrogance. One earns the moral right to criticise only when one has the moral courage to acknowledge the positive aspects or good deeds of those we condemn for specific evil actions. One should be able to condemn Modi for his role in the 2002 massacre and point to his many other blind spots and lapses, without feeling the need to deny his positive role in Gujarat leading the country in many vital areas such as assured power supply to all villages, measures for bringing down the maternal mortality rate by providing financial and other support for safe deliveries to poor women, and a 9.8% growth rate in agriculture while the rest of the country remains stuck at 2-3% growth. It is one of the few states where farmers at large are not at war with industry, where delivery mechanisms for government services have improved dramatically. The manner in which Maulana Ghulam Mohammad Vastanvi, the vice-chancellor of Darul Uloom of Deoband, was humiliated and asked to resign for stating that the development agenda of Modi is benefiting Muslims in equal measure shows that the 'secular' gang has acquired a vested interest in promoting a siege mentality among Muslims. The man they condemn as the 'maut ka saudagar' seems to have recognised the folly of promoting communal polarisation. He has not let another riot take place in Gujarat, a state which witnessed numerous caste and communal riots under Congress rule. In recent years, hundreds of Muslims have won municipal elections on BJP tickets. Democracy with its one-person, one-vote principle has tamed Narendra Modi. But those who don't need to get endorsement for their political posturing from citizens on whose behalf they speak, are not amenable to such self-correcting mechanisms. The task of cleansing our polity of crime and corruption is not a battle between demons and angels. It requires taking the entire spectrum of political opinion on board including those who support Maoists or vote for Modi. Such a task cannot be done by those who harbour blind prejudice, and partisan agendas. It is best done by people of compassion, and humility; people who remain fair and non-partisan even when dealing with those they hate.

The prime witness in the Best Bakery case was manipulated and coerced to give false evidence before the trial court in Mumbai. This startling disclosure has emerged from an affidavit sent to the Chief Justice of Bombay High Court on June 17, 2010 by Sheikh Yasmeen Banu, whose father-in-law Habibulla owned the ill-fated Best Bakery. Yasmeens husband Nafitulla was injured when rioters set Best Bakery ablaze. Nafitulla later died due to illness. In all, 14 persons were killed in the blaze. In her affidavit dated June 17, 2010, Yasmeen, whose eyewitness account of the carnage played a crucial role in the conviction of the alleged accused persons stated that her deposition before the trial court was made under duress and she regretted that the innocent persons have been convicted on the basis of her testimony. She has implicated social activist Teesta Setalvad for her fabricated deposition. Yasmeen stated that after the carnage she went to her parents home at Chhotaudepur along with her maternal uncle. After sometime, she went to Baroda along with her daughter and mother and started living in Best Bakery house after getting it repaired. That is when Yasmeen was approached by Setalvads trusted right-hand man Rais Khan. Incidentally, Khan has separately accused Setalvad of fabricating the affidavits of the riot witnesses. Yasmeen stated that one day, Rais Khan, who is associated with Teesta Setalvad, visited her along with local Muslim leaders and said that there was a danger to her (Yasmeen) life here and she must come to Mumbai where Best Bakery case was contested. Rais Khan connected me to Teesta Setalvad from his cell phone. Teesta Setalvad also persuaded me to come to Mumbai along with him and promised me to help from every point of view, Yasmeen said. Yasmeen said she and her mother were forced and threatened, even assured by Rais Khan that he and Teesta Setalvad will fulfill all her needs throughout her life. After getting assurances from Muslim leaders, Rais Khan and Teesta Setalvad, I along with mother and my daughter left for Mumbai with Rais Khan by locking my house and leaving all the household articles there, which I brought from my widow mothers house from Chhotaudepur. In Mumbai, Yasmeen was kept at Ashok Guest House in Bhindi Bazaar for one month. Yasmeen said Rais Khan daily took her to Setalvads house at Nirant Bungalow, Juhu Tara Road, Santacruz (West), Mumbai, which is her office also. Teesta Setalvad used to explain to me about the case there. From there she used to take me to the office of Public Prosecutor Manjula Rao and thereafter she used to drop me at the guest house, she points out. She further added that during this period, she was paid by Teesta through her staff Dhyansingh and Pradip. Yasmeen was kept for 11 months in Room No. 102, at Mariam Apartment, Ismile Katre Road, Bhindi Bazaar. Indicating that all the witnesses were kept under Setalvads supervision, Yasmeen said when she was shifted there, the same day other witnesses of the Best Bakery case, namely Taufel, Rais, Shezad, Selon, Ashraf, Shahjahan, Zahira Sheikh and her grandmother also came to stay there. Rais Khan and Teesta Setalvad kept strict observation on the flat in which we were residing, we were not able to go out and no one was allowed to meet us. Neither were we having mobile nor were we allowed to talk to anybody, even if we requested. We were not permitted to open the window of the room. Dhyansingh or sometimes Pradip, working in the office of Teesta Setalvad, used to stay for 24 hours there. They used to fulfill our requirements as well as keeping watch on us,

Yasmeen states and adds whosoever was called for deposition in the court used to leave the house and did not return. Yasmeen said the witnesses were kept in a Government guest house during the period of deposition. They used to get mobile phone from Teestas men in which outgoing calls were barred. Teesta used to explain on mobile on what they have to depose, she said. She revealed that Public Prosecutor Manjula Rao where Teesta Setalvad used to be present everybody was tutored what to speak against whom in the court. Claiming that the depositions, which she gave against the persons, on the advice of these people, were unknown to her, Yasmeen said Teesta, Manjula Rao and Rais Khan used to take the witnesses to show their (accused) photographs to her on computers to identify them. She took my signatures on a few papers about which she (Yasmeen) had no knowledge, Yasmeen said, adding that Rais Khan and Teesta Setalvad visited them till the trial continued and assured them that they will fulfill all commitments made to them after the completion of the deposition. Yasmeen was sent to Ahmedabad after the trial and was kept in a house for four months in Shaper Mill Compound. I was removed from the house the very next day of the pronouncement of judgement. I came to know that in the name of Best Bakery Case and for arranging deposition of persons like us, Teesta has collected lakhs of rupees and nothing was given to us, she said. With nowhere to go, Yasmeen returned to her uncles house. The Best Bakery was now out of her reach because her husbands second wife lived there. After her maternal uncle refused to support her, some people took pity and contributed money to buy her a hut. Her misery did not end. She re-married,

got pregnant and was then dumped by her husband. Yasmeen now lives with her mother and two children. Accusing Rais Khan and Teesta Setalvad of cheating her, Yasmeen said, By giving false deposition in this case, I have not only lost my ancestral property Best Bakery, which was in my possession and where I started living and earning my livelihood, but also on the basis of false assurances, so many innocent persons got convicted. Because of this, I am feeling guilty and probably due to this reason I am leading poor and sorrowful life. I always repent why I did the wrong thing on the advice of a person like Teesta. She added that since the judgement of the Best Bakery Case has been delivered on the basis of false testimonies, due to this reason her affidavit be treated as a petition, and the case be re-heard so that now no poor person can be bribed and misled by such people and no innocent person is wrongly punished and the persons like Teesta Setalvad and Rais Khan be tried as per law, who by misleading and bribing poor, weak and unsupported persons like us, are managing false testimonies. Yasmeen sent this affidavit by post in June2010 not only to the Chief Justice of Bombay High Court, but to Chief Justice of India, Chairman NHRC and Director General of Police, Gujarat. But, despite passing of 10 months no action has been taken against Teesta Setalvad and Rais Khan.

2G Scam: Kanimozhi chargesheeted

New Delhi, April 26, 2011: The supplementary charge sheet, second since April 2 in the 2G spectrum allocation case, filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation on Monday in a court here, dwells at length on the role Kanimozhi, Rajya Sabha MP and daughter of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK chief M. Karunanidhi, played in incorporating Kalaignar TV Private Ltd. along with other promoters. The 48-page charge sheet says Ms. Kanimozhi actively pursued with the intermediaries and the DMK headquarters reappointment of accused A. Raja as the Minister for Communications and Information Technology in 2009. This clearly establishes the strong association of accused Kanimozhi and A. Raja in the official/political matters. The charge sheet says investigations revealed that there were a number of circumstances that together conclusively establish that the amount of Rs. 200 crore paid by Dynamix Realty to Kalaignar TV through Kusegaon Fruits and Vegetables Pvt. Ltd. and Cineyug Films Pvt. Ltd. was not a genuine business transaction but was in the nature of illegal gratification paid in lieu of the Unified Access Service [UAS] Licences, valuable spectrum and other undue benefit given by accused public servants to Swan Telecom Pvt. Ltd. The charge sheet keeps its focus on establishing the money trail - the payment of the illegal gratification of over Rs. 200 crore to Kalaignar TV through a circuitous route. It says investigations revealed that for all the transactions of more than Rs. 200 crore among Dynamix Realty, Kusegaon Fruits & Vegetables Pvt. Ltd., Cineyug and Kalaignar TV, claimed to be in the nature of loan, no valid agreements were signed between any of the parties and no collaterals/securities ensured to secure the alleged loan amounts. The charge sheet states that accused Asif Balwa and Rajiv B. Agarwal, directors of Kusegaon Fruits and Vegetables Pvt. Ltd. (now Kusegaon Realty Pvt. Ltd.), and Karim Morani, director of Cineyug Films Pvt. Ltd. (now Cineyug Media and Entertainment Pvt. Ltd.) in Mumbai, intentionally aided and Act, 1988 against Shahid Balwa, Vinod Goenka, Asif Balwa, Rajiv B. Agarwal and Karim Morani. The charge sheet sought to demolish the defence of the accused that the transactions of Rs. 200 crore among Dynamix Realty, Kusegaon Fruits & Vegetables Pvt. Ltd., Cineyug and Kalaignar TV were genuine business transactions in the nature of loans/ advances. It lists 14 circumstances in support of the charge that the transaction amounted to illegal gratification. Refund of amount It says the refund of the entire amount began after the CBI registered the case. The refund started on December 23, 2010 and Mr. Raja was asked to join the CBI probe on December 24 and 25. On January 24, 2011, Rs. 65 crore was refunded. An amount of Rs. 25 crore was refunded on January 29 and Rs. 50 crore on February 2, 2011. During this time around, media reports about the likely arrest of Mr. Raja started appearing and, on February 2, 2011, he was arrested. The charge sheet says the entire paid-up equity of Kalaignar TV was Rs. 10.01 crore and its entire income (turnover) for the year ending March 31, 2009, was only Rs. 47.54 crore. The paidup equity of Cineyug during the same period was only Rs. 1 lakh and that of Kusegaon Fruits & Vegetable Pvt. Ltd. as on March 31, 2009 was only Rs. 1 lakh. The charge sheet alleges that Rs. 200 crore was paid by Dynamix Realty to Kalaignar TV through intermediaries from December 23, 2008 to August 7, 2009, after the offshore investments in Swan Telecom from Etisalat Mauritius Ltd., and Genex Exim Ventures Pvt. Ltd. came in on December 17, 2008. The funds from which Kalaignar TV refunded Rs. 200 crore to Cineyug partly came from Anjugam Films Pvt. Ltd, said to be a subsidiary of Kalaignar TV. On the role of Ms. Kanimozhi, the charge sheet says she was initially a director and resigned only for the reason that her clearance from the Home Ministry was pending and could take time and delay the matter of launching Kalaignar TV channel. Accused A. Raja was further pursuing the cause of Kalaignar TV not only for getting registration of the company from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting but also for getting it in the Tata Sky bouquet. Kanimozhi was a stakeholder of Kalaignar TV to the tune of 20 per cent equity and was an active brain behind its operations. Ms. Kanimozhi was also widely covered by the Kalaignar Seithigal (news) channel, it points out. On Mr. Karunanidhi's wife Dayalu Karunanidhi, who is the 60 per cent stakeholder in Kalaignar TV, the charge sheet says she was requested by the board to act as director of the company. However, as per the minutes of the board meeting of July 27, 2007, she categorically informed [it] that in view of her old age and deteriorating health, she cannot be expected to give any attention to the company's affairs and requested Sharad Kumar to exercise degree of skill which may reasonably be expected of a person of his knowledge, experience, calibre and status. She also informed the board that due to her age and non-understanding of any language other than Tamil, after appointment as Director, she will attend the meeting only to suffice the legal requirement to have quorum and not for anything else, says the charge sheet.

UK firm owner may turn approver

New Delhi, April 26, 2011: Arrested former Commonwealth Games Organizing Committee chief Suresh Kalmadi may be headed for more trouble with Ashish Patel, the UK-based owner of AM Cars and Films, likely to turn approver in the Queen's Baton Relay case. After his arrest in irregularities in the timing, scoring and results contract for the Commonwealth Games, Kalmadi can be booked for payments made to the UK firm for hire of cars, screens and portable toilets for the October 2009 function flagged off by the British Queen in London. No contract was entered into with the firm on the plea that the OC had to respond to last-minute demands by British authorities - an argument that is undone by evidence that the organizers were in touch with Patel much earlier. Evidence has also surfaced of Kalmadi himself authorizing payments to the firm quoting paucity of time. Now, Patel could be an approver in the two cases related the QBR contract registered by CBI in November 2010. A two-member CBI team that went to London to question Patel, who is also an accused, and to gather o t h e r evidence said the businessman had been cooperative. "Ashish Patel was questioned twice and he has given us important details on the whole contract. We showed him documents which we have collected during investigations. We told him where he stands," said a source. Officials added that if Ashish Patel did not cooperate, CBI will soon begin the process for his extradition. As he is a British citizen, Patel cannot be arrested by CBI but he was questioned at length on exchange of emails between arrested OC officials Sanjay Mohindroo and T S Darbari, release of payments and the socalled contract. Patel could not explain the documents though CBI could not get a statement given his nationality. Patel is expected to submit his reply to the Scotland Yard police department which will pass it on to the CBI. "We have substantial evidence against Patel of his complicity with Darbari and Mohindroo. Being an accused, he could turn approver declaring that he was also part of the conspiracy," said an official. Before questioning Patel, CBI took permission of UK's Serious Fraud Office. CBI is also hopeful the SFO will register a case against the car rental firm (AM Cars) for alleged overpricing. In its FIR, CBI stated, "It is alleged that in relation to the QBR held on October 29, 2009, the OC awarded the work of transportation to the AM Car and Van Hire Ltd at exorbitantly high rates without following the standard tender process." CBI has registered nine FIRs in different cases related to alleged corruption in the mega sporting event held in Delhi on October 3-14 last year

Meaning of a Sanskrut Shloka: Parshuram who is well-versed with the four Vedas and sports the bow and arrow upon His back (that is the one who has the radiance of both the Brahman and the Kshatriya) will destroy evildoers either with a curse or with an arrow. Bhagwan Parshuram, the sixth Incarnation of Vishnu, belongs to the Tretayug, and is the son of Sage Jamadagni and Goddess Renuka. Parshu means axe, hence His name literally means Ram-with-the-axe. He received an axe after undertaking a terrible penance to please Lord Shiva, from whom He learned the methods of warfare and other skills. Even though He was born as a Brahmin, He had Kshatriya (warrior) traits

in terms of aggression, warfare and valour. Hence He is said to be a 'BrahmaKshatriya' and one who possesses Brahmatej and Kshatratej. He killed the entire army and King Kartavirya Sahasrarjuna, who took away the magical cow (Kamadhenu) forcibly, that belonged to His father Jamadagni. In revenge the King's sons killed Jamadagni in Parshuram's absence. Furious at their unrighteous act, He killed all sons of the King and also went on killing all corrupt Haihaya Kings and warriors on the earth 21 times. He then conducted the Ashvamedha sacrifice, performed only by sovereign Kings and gave the entire land He owned to priests who performed the sacrificial fire (Yadnya). He is a Chiranjeevi (Immortal) who fought the advancing ocean back, thus saving the lands of Konkan and Malabar (Maharashtra - Karnataka - Kerala coastline). The coastal area of Kerala state along with the Konkan region, i.e., coastal Maharashtra and Karnataka, is known as Parshuram Kshetra (Area). He has been a Guru to Bhishma, Dronacharya and later also to Karna. He taught Karna the extremely powerful Brahmastra (A celestial weapon). But He also cursed that the knowledge would be useless to Karna, predicting much in advance that Karna will join the unrighteous Duryodhana in the Kurukshetra war. Such was His love for Righteousness. Also, the Sudarshan Chakra (or Sudarshan Vidya) is said to be given by Parshuram to Lord Krushna. The purpose of the sixth Incarnation of Vishnu is considered by religious scholars to be to relieve the earth's burden by exterminating the sinful, destructive and irreligious kings that pillaged its resources, and neglected their duties. Parshuram is a martial Shraman ascetic. However, unlike all other Incarnations, Parshuram lives on earth even today. The Kalki Purana states Parshuram will be the martial guru of Sri Kalki, the 10th and final Incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Gangasagar or Sagar Island, positioned on the continental shelf of Bay of Bengal almost 150 km (80 nautical miles) south of Kolkata, doesnt need any new reference. Hence, for all these, Gangasagar has become the next target of Islamic Jihadists, backed by political parties as well. These days Islamic religious ceremonies, under the aegis of Trinamool Congress and CPM, are becoming more and more common in the entire island and all are happening without the necessary permission of microphones even.

Hindus, on the contrary, are facing umpteen problems to hold religious gatherings! While they are not being allowed to make use of microphones, other problems like harassments of Hindus by administration even on flimsy grounds have become a reality. Is this the best reward to the majority community by Indian Governance?

Pope warns of falling belief in West

Vatican City, April 21, 2011: Pope Benedict lamented the widespread abandonment of religion in Western countries at a Holy Thursday ceremony, saying the heartlands of Christianity were turning away from their faith. The German-born pontiff said during the service at St. Peter's Basilica it sometimes seemed as if the West had become bored by its own history and culture. "Have not we - the people of God become to a large extent a people of unbelief and distance from God?" he said during the service in which he blessed oils to be used in Catholic rites. "Is it perhaps the case that the West, the heartlands of Christianity, are tired of their faith?" Celebrating the sixth Easter season of his pontificate, the pope said the beatification of his Polish predecessor, John Paul II, on May 1 would be a chance to remember a man of great faith. "For all the shame we feel over our failings, we must not forget that today too there are radiant examples of faith, people who give hope to the world," Pope Benedict said. The 84-year-old pope has often warned against creeping secularism which he has said is as bad as religious fanaticism.

Canadian PM joins Vaisakhi parade

Vancouver, April 20, 2011: Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper joined thousands of Sikhs here on April 16, Saturday for the weekend Vaisakhi celebrations. Called the Vaisakhi Parade, it is one of the oldest and biggest Sikh celebrations in North America. Welcoming the over 10,000 of attraction as he came dressed in a jersey of the city's national ice hockey team called the Canucks. Along the long procession, people dressed in colourful clothes danced to drum beats as loudspeakers blared music in the city's Little India area. Diane Watts, mayor of the neighbouring Sikh-dominated city of Surrey, walked in the procession wearing colourful salwar-kameez. "Vaisakhi is an event that is all about inclusion, it is all about pride, it is all about families, it is all about those things that we want for British Columbia (province)," said Watts who went on an 11-day business mission to India in February. Thousands of non-Sikhs also joined the procession to have fun with the community and feast on free food and delicacies. People had set up free food stalls along the route of the Vaisakhi Parade. Similar weekend Vaisakhi processions will also be taken out in Surrey and Toronto last this month. Though their exact numbers are not known, Canada is home to about 400,000 Sikhs. They were the first Indian community to land in this country in the Vancouver area in the 1890s.

RSS asks China to stop religious repression in Tibet.

Dharamsala, April 21, 2011: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangha (RSS) leader Sh. Indresh Kumar Thursday called on China to immediately cease its repressive dealings against the monks of Ngaba Kirti Monastery in Tibets northeastern province of Amdo. Speaking to media persons after visiting the venue for Tibetan Youth Congress ongoing relay huger strike outside Tsuglagkhang (Main Tibetan Temple) here, the RSS leader also called on China to hold dialogue with the Tibetan government in exile to resolve the issue of Tibet. China must at least immediately stop environmental destructions taking place in Tibet. Also it must end all religious repressions against the monks and monasteries in Tibet, Mr Indresh said. The Tibetan Youth Congress (TYC) on Sunday launched an indefinite relay hunger strike to protest against what it called a critical situation in and around Kirti Monastery in Ngaba, Tibet. 15 volunteers have been staging 24-hour hunger strike on daily basis since then. Mr Indresh said he visited the venue to show his solidarity to the hunger strikers. He was accompanied by RSS ideologue KN Govindacharya. The delegation earlier met with representatives of major Tibetan NGOs and held discussions on wide range of pertinent issues facing Tibet. TYC president Mr Tsewang Rigzin said his organization was pleased with Mr Indreshs visit. It is very encouraging to have him here. New Delhi, April 23, 2011: Totally dissatisfied with the progress of investigation in the black money issue, the Supreme Court on Thursday asked the Centre: Are you sleeping? A Bench of Justices B. Sudershan Reddy and S.S. Nijjar, hearing petitions filed by the former Union Law Minister, Ram Jethmalani, and others, asked the government to explain why its investigation was focussed only on the Pune-based businessman Hasan Ali Khan and no other name had come out. Justice Reddy told Solicitor-General Gopal Subramaniam: The investigation requires complete and full-fledged involvement of all departments of the government as the most important question was about disclosure of the source of money stashed [away] in foreign banks. This could be terror money or money coming from drug peddling or from sale of arms. Justice Reddy said: Your whole focus is centred on one individual. Does it mean that all black money parked in foreign banks belong to only one person? Is it that the black money issue is surrounding around one person? Do you have information beyond that? When the SG said different agencies were investigating different aspects of the matter, Justice Nijjar asked: Are all department heads sleeping till now. The SG replied that other agencies were not sleeping as cases would have to be registered for proper investigation. Justice Reddy asked the SG: Why is the government not disclosing names of others who had stashed [away] money in foreign banks. Is it that the black money issue is surrounding around only one person? We put it very simply and bluntly. Do you have any information regarding other persons also? It seems there is only one person [Indian] who has bank account in Switzerland and no other person's account has come under suspicion in Swiss banks. The SG denied that there was slackness on the part of the government and said the court could ask the Reserve Bank of India to file a report on black money stashed away in UBS bank, Switzerland, on the basis of which further action could be taken. The passport case (against Hasan Ali) should be investigated by the CBI as the offence in this regard was not restricted to Maharashtra but involved other States as well. Pointing out the need for a special investigation team to probe various aspects of the matter, Justice Reddy said: We are very clear in our mind that more than one agency is required to conduct investigation and it should be monitored by a person of eminence which could be a retired Chief Justice of High Court. The SG sought time to take instructions, even as senior counsel Anil Divan, appearing for the petitioner, reiterated the need for a SIT probe.

Rigzin said the members of Tibetan organizations have urged the Indian delegation for their support to defuse the situation. We have asked them to raise the issue in the Indian parliament and through the Indian government and through the Indian embassy in Beijing to highlight the issue of whats going on in Tibet, Rigzin added. Digvijay gets taste of own medicine

New Delhi, April 23, 2011 : For months Congress general secretary Digivijay Singh taught lessons in honesty to one and sundry, but now that he has himself got into a land controversy, his political rivals are gloating over his plight. The BJP and Janata Dal(U) on Friday went ballistic against Singh after Madhya Pradesh High Court on Thursday ordered the Economic Offences Wing to file a chargesheet against the former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister for flouting rules and allowing illegal construction of a mall in Indore. The Treasure Island Mall, centrally located on Indores Mahatma Gandhi Road, came up in the area marked for residential purposes, as special permission was given to allow the malls construction on a 25,000 sq feet plot. In a virtual defence of Bhushans, BJP asked Singh to first look at his own track record and then point fingers at others. The court has taken cognizance of a case of illegal land allotment by Singh for constructing a shopping mall. He should first look at himself and then find fault with others, BJP spokesman Syed Shahnawaz Hussain said here on Friday. The BJP was also upset with Singh hitting out at Karnataka Lokayukta Santosh Hegde, who is now planning to quit the panel following a vilification campaign by the ruling party leader. Hussain took pot shots at Congress chief Sonia Gandhi by asking what sort of support she has extended to the Lokpal Bill when senior leaders of her own party were going all out against members of the civil society. Congress is adopting double standards on the Lokpal issue. While their president is saying no doubts should be cast on the credibility of the civil society members in the drafting committee, Digvijay Singh and others are making false charges against them, Hussain added. JD(U) national spokesman Shivanand Tewari also taunted Singh for preaching morality to everyone when the order of the high court has exposed his own involvement in corruption. Congress is mother of corruption but its leaders go on preaching morality to others. Now Digvijay Singh should explain his own conduct, Tiwari said. The JD(U) leader alleged that the Congress was trying to scuttle the ongoing efforts for drafting Jan Lokpal Bill by creating controversies over the conduct of some panelists of the civil society, and Digvijay Singh was firing on her behalf.
