Caprock
The Grosmont formation was ultimately sealed by the overlaying Lower Cretaceous Wabiskaw shales Caprock injectivity testing shows the Wabiskaw shale fracture gradient to be 22kpa/m Maximum surface steam injection pressures were limited to 5,100 kPa to prevent fracturing of the Wabiskaw shales
Actual injection pressures did not exceed 4,000 kPa throughout the steam injection cycle

Injection volumes measured by reading daily steam injection volumes (roots meter)
Injected volumes verified through trucked water volumes and water balance
The water cuts measured through wellhead fluid sampling and separation with centrifuge
65
Production accounting department submissions to Petroleum Registry of Alberta Injected volumes based on water balance Delivered oil production volumes as allocated at approved drop off facilities Water production volumes based on the production fluid balance
66
Fluid Trucking
Produced fluids trucked off site to approved facilities
Newalta, Red Earth CCS, Slave Lake Legacy, Wabasca
When required for drilling operations, water was trucked to 0614-097-24W4 and 14-03-096-24W4
Prevented additional water withdrawals that would have been required during drilling with losses

Environmental Summary
Harper CSS Pilot Within a designated Caribou Protection Zone Approximately 250m to nearest watercourse Cut/fill required for site leveling There are no fresh and/or brackish water wells related to the Harper CSS Pilot Two surface water withdrawal locations have been approved by Alberta Environment (AENV) under temporary diversion licenses (TDL)
NE-23-95-25-W4M(Burnt Lakes) TDL 00280101-00-00 (20,000 m3) SW-31-95-24-W4M(Burnt Lakes) TDL 00280141-00-00 (30,000 m3)
Environmental Summary
Wildlife: As per approved Caribou Protection Plan #NEB2-045-10/11Harper, Caribou Sighting Cards are being used to monitor and report to ASRD any ungulate and predator sightings at the Harper CSS Pilot. To date, no sightings have occurred Surface Water: On-going monitoring of water withdrawal operations as required under approved Temporary Diversion License, and are being overseen by 3rd party consultant, Clear Environmental Solutions. A total of 3975 m3 of fresh water was used for steam injection purposes

71
Compliance
Sunshine has all required approvals from ERCB, ASRD and Alberta Environment (AENV). No EPEA approval was required for this temporary CSS project An exemption letter from AENV was received on August 29, 2008 There are no compliance issues with the Harper CSS Pilot
72
Reclamation Activities
The Pad site will have topsoil and subsoil re-contoured to mimic surrounding landscape Course woody debris will be re-spread evenly over disturbed areas and the lease will be left to naturally re-vegetate On-going monitoring for weeds, erosion, and re-vegetation performance will occur until a Reclamation Certificate has been obtained Sunshine Oil Sands Ltd confirms, to the best of its knowledge, that all operations are in compliance with all conditions and approvals related to the Harper CSS Pilot Project
73
74
Key Learnings
Grosmont C bitumen is thermally mobile Successful in mobilizing and producing bitumen during this steam pilot
Grosmont C has high injectivity due to excellent permeability Could not pressure up the formation Maximum steam injection rates of 250m3/d CWE High well deliverability, unable to draw down the fluid levels Fiber optic temperature sensor has good resolution, allowing observations on fluid levels and downhole conditions Can conclude injection and production to the lower porosity interval due to uniform heating of fiber optic string Able to see temperature changes in the wellbore, N2 blanket visible Potential fluid level monitoring although highly interpretive N2 blanket successfully insulated wellbore above steam injection interval
75
Future Plans
Evaluating options to produce remainder of injected water back next winter Determine if there is a mobile water phase in the Grosmont formation Evaluating potential for future cycles at the Harper Pilot location Shorter injection cycles with a more aggressive production strategy Amendment of current application and extension of pilot operations are required if another cycle is to be executed at the 11-21-95-24W4 pilot location Current steam flood experiments of Grosmont C 11-21-95-24W4 core will provide greater understanding of potential recovery factors and residual oil saturations Impacts of vugs and fractures on recoveries to be determined through CT scans before and after steam flood tests Future pilot projects experimenting with modern enhanced oil recovery techniques will be evaluated
