Validity is about relevance: If you provide documents showing previous training you have completed or experience you have had, this must be relevant to the AT College membership requirements. Authenticity is about genuineness: You need to be able to prove the work you are providing to prove their skills and knowledge was done by you. Currency is about being up to date: Can you prove you currently have the required skills and knowledge not just that you had them in the past? Do your skills and knowledge reflect current practice? Sufficiency is about having enough proof: Do you have enough proof to show you have all the required skills and knowledge, and can you show that you have performed these skills and knowledge to the required standard for a period of time? UK Level 2
Learning Outcomes: Self Assessment Checklist Please initial each learning area to confirm that you understand the principles and can carry out the activities for each knowledge area. Assumed Knowledge Areas 2.1 Basic Costing Understand the cost recording system within an organisation and be able to use the cost recording system to record or extract data. Use spreadsheets to provide information on actual and budgeted income and expenditure. 2.2 Computerised Accounting Enter accounting data at the beginning of an accounting period, record customer and supplier transactions. Record and reconcile bank and cash transactions and use journals to enter accounting transactions. Produce reports and maintain the safety and security of data held in the computerised accounting system. 2.3 Processing book-keeping transactions Understand the principles of processing financial transactions and the double entry bookkeeping system including discounts. Prepare and process financial documentation for customers, process supplier invoices and credit notes and calculate payments. Maintain the cash book and petty cash records. Process ledger transactions and extract a trial balance. 2.4 Control accounts, journals and the banking system Understand the purpose and use of control accounts and journals. Maintain and use control accounts and use the journal. Reconcile a bank statement with the cash book. UK Level 3
At Level 3 a MINIMUM of six (out of the nine) competence areas must be based on your experience. You may only top-up three competence areas out of the nine required.

UK Level 4
