June 2009
Dear Friend,
Hello once again from everyone at the Full Gospel Lighthouse
Rev. Daniel Bossidy Church in Torrington, CT. There is nothing like serving the Lord. He
Pastor&President gives us hope and peace and He cares about every need we have!
Barbara Prahm So many people try to serve God in their own way, by their own
Vice-President understanding and strength, and they fall short of His glory. It wasn’t
Carol Bossidy until I surrendered my will to God’s will and my ways for God’s ways
Treasurer that the Lord was able to begin the real work in me He intended. It is
at the moment we submit to His Word (even if it hurts our feelings!)
that then we begin to see the change in us we need, becoming all He

friends. Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you”

more gracious words than that, that we can be the friend of Jesus! He

went to great lengths to make that statement a reality.
Home Missions
We read in the Bible that Abraham was called the friend of
Newsletter God. The Bible says, “And the Scripture was fulfilled which saith,

Sunday School righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God” (James 2:23).
Vacation Bible We try to please God by doing this right, that right, being kind to
School animals and people, doing good deeds, giving to charities and going
Visiting Ministry to church. All these things are important. But to be the friend of God,
Youth Activities we must follow Abraham’s footsteps: we must believe God; the
things He says and trust in His will. We must have fellowship with
Him and share our burdens and joys, express to Him our feelings and
thoughts, allow Him to speak to us and remain humble before Him.
Jesus said we are His friends if we do what He commands us to
do. What did He command at that time? “This is my commandment,
In continued recognition of
Dr. Philip P. Saunders
That ye love one another, as I have loved you.” Wow! If I love
World-Wide
others as Jesus loved me I can be His friend? That’s what He said. But remember, some
of the “others” included Judas and the Roman soldiers and the High Priest and Pilate. It’s
easy to love those who love us, but to love those who are against us or even hate us is a
tall order. But God loved this world more than anything. Every living soul He loves. It is
His will to save everybody and that none perish. I can do it if I stay close to Jesus. He
would never tell me to do something I can’t do. So I must take on His character and
personality by staying close to Him. We do this by attending church services and hearing
God’s Word, applying it to our lives. Faith still comes by hearing the Word of God. We
also do this by being with others of like precious faith. There are things people teach as
we deal with the different personalities each has. I learn how to be a servant, like Jesus
was. It also tends to keep us from having too much pride because people always tend to
bring us down a notch or two when we get too high and mighty!
I have also learned that I need the prayers of God’s people. When I am down, other
church members remind me there is a lifting up! Not only do I need prayer but others
need my prayers as well. The church is made up of many members, but we are all one
body in Christ. Each of us is needed so we can all focus on Jesus Christ and reach those
that are lost. Our friend Jesus will continue to bless us as we continue to do His will. As
we believe God together and trust His guidance we will see the victory!
May God richly bless you and your family this month. Please remember that our
church is praying for you! If you don’t have a church you regularly attend, I invite you to
ours. We are the Full Gospel Lighthouse Church, located at 624 Torringford West St. in
Torrington, CT. Our schedule of services is Sunday at 10 am and 7 pm and Wednesday at
7:30 pm

Sincerely,

Rev. Daniel Bossidy
