Yield not to such degrading impotence,
Shun the weakness of thy heart at once!
Arise and get ready and this war fight,
O mighty ksatriya, the brightest of bright.

He who follows not vedic direction,
And is fully trapped in selfish action,
And looks outside for sense satisfaction,
Know is useless and sinner, O son.

Seers and saints and pious I liberate.
Vicious, wicked and demons I annihilate.

As a lamp flickers not when no wind,
Likewise is stable, yogi with cool mind.

Distressed, inquisitive, jnani and desirers
Are four kinds of My worshippers,
But, are not really true devotees,
As they worship with some motives.

Eternal, creator, maintainer and strongest,
Bigger than biggest, smaller than smallest!
Darker than darkest, brighter than brightest!

Everything in nature emanates from Me,
I am never ending source of all energy.
Spiritual and material worlds I control,
My true devotees ever enjoy My role

CH.11 The Universal Form 11/1-11/11

Your gaping mouths and glowing eyes,
Colors you radiate are filling all skies,
Delude and elude my mind, O Krsna,
Tremble my limbs and terrify every one.

It is easy to worship Me as Deity
And realize Me and My true beauty,
And steady yourself in My lotus feet
And swim worldly ocean without retreat.

One’s past decides the body one gets,
Law of karma thus, this stage sets.
Every form owes to one’s own nature,
Yet, I do ever accompany every creature.

People in goodness are pious and joyous,

Gita My Mother
Introduction

Never in the past or the future be there an epic as

great as Mahabharata, an age old, grandest ever, the
epic of the Hindus. That’s a tale of pious and
virtuous Pandavas and selfish and wicked Kauravas.
It’s not merely a tale, but a classic literature,
depicting all facets of human life, such as ethics,
love, passion, valor, truth, morality, hate, envy,
greed, ego, immorality, pain and pleasure and so on.
This is tale of kings and queens, heroes and heroines,
war and peace, knights and soldiers, men and
women, Gods and God men, sages and seers,
animals and beasts, rivers and mountains, woven
articulately with such a beauty that it’s eternal. It is
said that what is not in Mahabharata is nowhere.
Pandavas, pious and strong, sons of king of Bharata,
Pandu and Kauravas, sinful and selfish, sons of blind
king Dhratrashtra, were cousins. Though they were
brought up and trained as princely warriors under
Guru Drone and grandfather Bhisma, yet they
always envied and hated Pandavas , as Pandavas
were more valiant, sharp and virtuous. After the
death of king Pandu, selfish Kauravas declined
them the kingdom. By treacherous means they even
tried to kill them ( Incident of lakshagraha ). But by
the mercy of Lord KRSNA, the almighty, they were
safe and established Indraprastha.

9
By deceitful means Kauravas defeated Pandavas in
the game of dice and won their kingdom and sent
them in exile, in forest for thirteen years. After they
came back from forest, Kauravas refused them the
earth equal to even the tip of niddle.
When the last effort to bring about the truce between
them by Lord Himself failed, did Pandavas declare
war against arrogant Kauravas. The famous war of
Kuruksetra! Their victory was certain as Lord
KRSNA was on their side. When armies, knights,
charioteers, bowmen, kings, from both sides were
ready, and the war was about to begin; Arjuna was
agitated, to see friends, relatives, well-wishers, sons,
maternal uncles, in-laws, paternal uncles, innocent
soldiers, kith and kin on both sides, eager to kill each
other. He was more disturbed to see grandpa Bhisma
and Guru Drone, the chieftains of Kauravas, as he
loved and respected them so much. The mere idea of
killing them made him sick. He not only foresaw
total annihilation of kingdom but destruction of it’s
rich traditions too. His heart sank, as he was a pious
person too. His throat dry, limbs weak, trembling,
and feverish. His bow, the Gandiv, slipped off his
hand. He then declared to Lord KRSNA that he
won’t fight this war, even for the sake of kingdom
of three earths.
Here, when Lord saw poor novice Arjuna with
tearful eyes, to him He sung this divine song ,
‘Bhagavad- Gita’
to dispel doubts, illusion, and ignorance of his mind
and enlighten him with knowledge eternal, truth
10
eternal, science eternal. Gita, though the center stage
of Mahabharata, stands out alone as an eternal vedic
wisdom, that is beyond time, space, race, cast, creed
and religion. Gita with her eighteen chapters and
seven hundred concise verses, is the world class
poetic dialogue between Lord KRSNA, the creator
of universe and Arjuna, the greatest warrior.
Verse after verse Arjuna is made to realize his true
self, his true nature, his past, present and future.
Chapter after chapter he is made to climb newer and
higher spiritual heights that enlightened him with
ethics, duties, responsibilities, paths to perfection,
creation and destruction of the universe, endurance
of eternal soul, religion and irreligion, good and bad,
and ultimate liberation. All doubts and illusions, of
Arjuna’s mind were driven away by the shining sun
of divine knowledge. Gita, that was told by Lord few
million years ago to Sun God and repeated here to
Arjuna five thousand years ago, stands out even
today like a wise and loving mother, rearing a baby
with love, care and protection. Great yogis and sages
of past and present have translated and written
commentaries on The Gita in world’s leading
languages that is source of knowledge ocean to
philosophers and scholars. Many civilized people of
various faiths across the world not only have
accepted Gita’s wisdom as serene, universal,
stupendous, infinite, cosmological, but also adopted
it as a regular curriculum, in their schools and
universities.

11
It will be a golden day in our history, when this
jewel of our own heritage is adopted by our own
schools and universities to uplift our national
character and promote universal peace, brotherhood,
nonviolence and compassion towards birds, beasts,
plants and animals.
This little book ‘Gita My Mother’ is a meek effort
by me to present a simple poetic transcreation in
English, of this great, eternal divine song
‘Bhagavad- Gita’ for the benefit of students,
soldiers and lay-persons, who love simple poetry and
want to understand principles of Gita.
I pray Lord KRSNA million times because,
‘To err is me, but to forgive is He’
