TITLE: SUMMARY:

Executive Director The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors and has the overall strategic and operational responsibility for staff, programs, fundraising, public relations and the administrative affairs of ACT and the execution of its mission.

About ARTISTS CREATING TOGETHER (ACT): Artists Creating Together (ACT) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to empower people with disabilities from West and Northern Michigan with interactive experiences, both artistic & cultural, while providing opportunities for personal growth and learning. Areas of Responsibility: I. Fund Development: Support fund development efforts to ensure stable revenue streams to support all programs and operations of the organization. Secure funding through grants, proposals, annual appeal efforts, special events and other donor cultivation efforts. A. Grants and Proposals. Seek funding for ACT initiatives from local foundations, businesses and individuals. Manage these proposals with required evaluations and reporting. B. Annual Appeal: Work with board committee and staff in annual appeal efforts each year. C. Special Events: Facilitate and implement ACT special events, including Raise Your Hand for ACT Auction and Benevon fundraising ACT:reACT Luncheon D. Work with special events and fund development board committees on donor cultivation and major gift requests II. Projects and Programs: Oversee staff in program development, implementation and evaluation. Develop new programming in response to community needs. III. Public Relations and Communications. A. Serve as external spokesperson for ACT in traditional media outlets and at community events B. Deepen and refine all aspects of electronic and print communications IV. Board Development. Actively engage board members in the work of ACT, including attendance and Board meetings, committee meetings as appropriate and other board development efforts. V. Legal and fiscal oversight. A. Responsibility for the sound fiscal management of the affairs of ACT. Includes maintaining sound internal controls, overseeing performance of staff, overseeing financial bookkeeping. Preparing the annual organizational budget for board approval and monitor budged revenues and expenses. B. Ensure that the organization is current in its legal filings such as Michigan nonprofit license, License to Solicit, Form 990 and personnel tax forms as well as other appropriate insurance coverages for the organization including general liability and officers and directors insurance.

Qualifications Advanced degree preferred, with at least five years of related experience. Background in the arts, arts management or non-profit management preferred; Experience working with a board of directors, Proven management and leadership experience; Strong marketing and fundraising experience with ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures; Experience in organizational management with the ability to coach staff, manage and develop high performance teams and manage a budget; Strong written and verbal communication skills, a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal skills, Understanding of the West Michigan philanthropic community; Understanding of disability and arts community issues and trends preferred, Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced office Self-starter, independent worker High-energy, detail oriented personality equipped to juggle multiple tasks at once. Ability to work with others of diverse backgrounds and experiences Experienced and skilled in the use of software programs, such as MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel as well as social media platforms. Commitment to the vision/mission of ACT Passion, idealism, integrity, positive attitude and mission driven.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: Must have reliable transportation. Some standing and lifting required. Some evening and weekend hours required.

BENEFITS: Salary range $52,000-$58,000 commensurate with experience, health insurance, PTO time, and generous holiday schedules. Potential for training and advancement.
