Licensing
Licensing in Solid Edge is designed to provide flexible deployment options while delivering security that protect your Solid Edge investment and Siemens PLM Software from software piracy. Both floating and node locked licensing options are available. Floating policy Floating represents the ability to have multiple clients accessing the software through a license server. This means that you can install Solid Edge on as many computers as needed on your network, and then have users check out licenses from a pool, not to exceed the total number of purchased seats. Floating licenses are centrally managed and are ideal for high volume installations allowing both dedicated designers and casual access to Solid Edge from their own computer with minimal disruption. A minimum of 5 licenses of Solid Edge is a prerequisite for the floating option. Node locked policy Solid Edge Node locked licenses tie a license of Solid Edge to an individual machine. For reliability no hardware key or dongle is required, instead Solid Edge uses web-based Product Activation to provide the license. Product Activation provides peace of mind that you are not using illegal copies of Solid Edge. Initial activation is a one-time only activity. Refer to the Solid Edge license agreement for more details.
