1. An experiment to investigate the effects of temperature on the rate of an enzyme reaction is carried out by a group of student with the following steps: Step 1: Step 2: Step 3: Fifteen drops of iodine solution were dropped separately in the grooves of a white tile. 1ml of saliva was put into a test-tube labelled as A. Test-tube A was immersed into the water bath with a temperature of 15C.
Thermometer Iodine solution Water bath ( 15C) 1 ml saliva Figure 1 Step 4: 5ml of starch suspension was added into test tube A. The mixture was stirred and a drop of the mixture was taken out and dropped into the first groove of the tile containing iodine solution. The iodine test was repeated every minute for 1 minute. White tile
Figure 2 shows the result obtained at the end of the experiment: Blue black solution Time taken for the complete hydrolysis of starch ___ minute Brown iodine solution Figure 2 Steps 1 to 4 are repeated by using the different sets of test tubes labelled as B, C and D, and the test tubes are immersed in water baths with temperatures at 25C, 35C and 45C respectively.

Microorganisms are not always active. The growth and activities of microorganisms are influenced by various abiotic factors such as temperature, pH, light intensity and the presence or absence of nutrients.
Based on the above information, design a laboratory experiment to investigate the activity of yeast. Your experimental planning need to include the following aspects: Statement of identified problem Objective of study Variables Statement of hypothesis List of materials and apparatus Technique used Experimental procedures Presentation of data Conclusion

Question 4
Plant needs macronutrients and micronutrients to grow healthy and reproduce. Nitrogen as in nitrate, phosphorus and potassium are most important. By using a suitable plant that can absorb nutrient from nutrient solution (aquaculture), design an experiment to show the effect of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium deficiency on this plant. Your experimental planning need to include the following aspects: Statement of identified problem Objective of study Variables Statement of hypothesis List of materials and apparatus Technique used Experimental procedures Presentation of data Conclusion
