Abstract

Youth is the most important stage of building their strength, maturity, independent, responsibility and self-concept, in which it is the time they make choices that will affect to their life and future. In the stage of getting to legal adulthood, young people are easily influenced by several variables such as peers, lifestyle, gender, culture, society and environment. As more influences and responsibility that young people get will impact a variety of issues and stresses from it, in which will caused a potentially risky behaviors and mental health to youth that will have a big impact in both their attitude, health and their life prospects. In this age, young people who are lack of courage, experience, communication and friends, are always keep the problems and stresses they face to themselves. Often times they will slowly develop through the issues and move on, but most of the times the problems and stresses are slowly unawareness killing them. I am interested to bring encouragement and hope to these struggling young people in a low-key youth targeted environment. In this project, I will create a survival guide publication using visually effective illustrations and typographies. Visual Communication plays a really important role in this project, as it is the most effective and attractive to deliver the idea and message to audience. In another hand, it is also important to communicate the idea in a right way and avoid misunderstanding and misleading to audience, as it will bring a big impact to the audience. The aim for this project is to create a humorous survival guide publication for youth who encounter lifes problems to encourage them always to think positively in life. It will have a humorous and lighthearted angle using visually effective illustrations and typographies to deliver the ideas and messages to audience. The Humorous Survival Guide for Life will be an A5 size publication that provides a series of comical solutions and coupled with creative encouragement quotes for life problems. It is mainly targeting aged 15 -25 youth who have not yet gained much experience and impacted by a variety of issues and stresses in their life. The main idea of this publication is to encourage young people to be optimistic in life, able to build their strength, resist and cope with any issue and situation. In this project, I will employ a range of visual communication techniques such as story telling and using the aspects of a characters life to illustrate the situations, problems and solutions with a sense of humor in it, to let audience able to refer to them and have a great laugh and release stress with it.
