Today, an estimated 96,000 Sephardic Jews speak a language called Judaeo-Spanish, or Ladino. This language derives from Medieval Spanish. Although in danger of extinction, this language is spoken in distant areas as far as the Balkan Peninsula, Middle East, Anatolia (Asia Minor), the USA and Latin America.
