ABSTRAK Kajian berbentuk deskriptif ini telah dijalankan secara tinjauan melalui soal selidik ke atas sekolah- sekolah

menengah di kawasan bandar Pulau Pinang .Fokus utama kajian adalah untuk melihat pengaruh kepimpinan pengajaran pengetua terhadap komitmen kualiti pengajaran guru. Kajian juga turut melihat hubungan kepimpinan pengajaran pengetua terhadap komitmen kualiti pengajaran guru. Seramai 150 orang guru daripada 4 buah sekolah menengah dalam bandar Pulau Pinang telah dipilih secara rawak sebagai responden. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan tahap amalan kepimpinan pengetua sekolah menengah kawasan bandar yang dikaji berada pada tahap sederhana dengan nilai min 3.34. Walau bagaimanapun, dapatan kajian mendapati tahap komitmen kualiti pengajaran guru pula berada pada tahap yang tinggi iaitu dengan nilai min 3.74.Sementara itu dapatan kajian juga menunjukkan terdapat hubungan yang positif dan signifikan antara faktor-faktor kepimpinan pengajaran pengetua dan komitmen kualiti pengajaran guru secara sederhana kuat iaitu r=0.452. Manakala hubungan secara keseluruhan kepimpinan pengajaran pengetua dengan komitmen kualiti pengajaran guru juga sederhana kuat dalam arah positif dengan nilai r=0.592. Selain itu, analisis regrasi berganda pula menunjukkan terdapat pengaruh secara keseluruhannya mahupun faktor kepimpinan pengajaran pengetua terhadap komitmen kualiti pengajaran. Berdasarkan hasil dapatan

daripada kajian ini, beberapa cadangan yang relevan telah dimajukan.

ABSTRACT This descriptive research has been conducted through observation using questionnaires of secondary schools within the urban areas in Penang. The main focus of the research is to observe the instructional leadership influence of the principal towards the commitment of teaching quality of the teachers. The research also looks into the relationship between the instructional leadership of the principal towards the commitment of teaching quality of the teachers. A total of 150 teachers from 4 secondary schools within urban areas in Penang have been chosen at random as respondent. The results of the research indicate that the level of leadership shown by the principal of the secondary school in urban areas is only at a medium level with a min value of 3.34. However, the results of the research showed that the level of commitment of teaching quality of the teachers is at a high level with a min value of 3.74. Meanwhile, the results of the research also indicate that there is a positive and significant relationship between the various factors of instructional leadership of the principal and the commitment of teaching quality of the teachers, which is above moderate level of r=0.452. Likewise, the overall relationship for the instructional leadership of the principal with the commitment of teaching quality of the teachers is also above moderate level towards positive impact with a value of r=0.592. In addition, analysis of multiple regressions indicates that there is an overall influence, especially on the factor of instructional leadership towards the commitment of teaching quality. Based on the results of this research, various relevant suggestions have been put forward.
