Fidaa Abu Turky Story

Fidaa Abu Turky was just eleven years old when a massacre and attack on a popular mosque in her home city of Hebron, Palestine, resulted in an intense, temporary shutdown of the city.
For 60 days the entire community experienced a severe shortage of food, money and other urgent supplies Spurred by her experiences, Fidaa has since committed herself to working with other young activists, using the principles of social justice, non-violence and respect for human rights to empower disadvantaged communities

Fidaa established a revolutionary business incubation initiative known as Erada (meaning willpower). Her innovation was to apply a venture capitalist approach in an area that traditionally relies on charitable giving and to use a business incubation model that would create jobs for women, encourage more female entrepreneurs and boost the local economy.

Erada provides seed funding to women to start small scale business enterprises Fidaa also offers them practical and theoretical business training, using a team of experts to help build their soft and technical skills

SHE TRAINS THEM AND HELPS THEM MARKET Each of her female beneficiaries gives 20% of their profit back to Erada TO DATE SHE REACHED 1200 WOMEN SMALL ENTREPREUNERS

The key to Fidaas success is that she is from the community and works with the community Fidaa was elected as an Ashoka Fellow just over one year ago and she is one of several extraordinary people we support in giving a voice to the disenfranchised.
