Introduction
TheSuskaACSISCSIadapterallowstheoperationofupto7Deviceswithparallel,nondifferential
SCSIinterfaceattheACSIbusofAtariSTcomputers.Theadaptersupportsbusparityandinitiator
identification.Thus,itispossibletoconnectSCSIComponentswhichmeettheSCSI1,SCSI2or
SCSI3standard.UsingappropriateharddiskdriversliketheHDDRIVERinanactualversion,
furthermoreitispossibletouseSCSIcommandsofallSCSIcommandclasses.Thislarge
commandextension,whichdistinguishestheadapterfromasimpleACSIinterface,allowsfor
exampletheuseofbigharddiscdrivesorremovablemediadeviceswithoutanyproblem(ifthereis
adriversoftwareforthedevices).
ThehardwareoftheSuskaACSISCSIadapterisdesignedinaway,thattheprotocoltranslationis

realizedusinglinedrivers.thedigitaldesignismodelledsynchronouslyandthereforerobustagainst
noiseonthesignals.ThepowersupplyfortheCPLDandtheclocksourceislocatedontheACSI
SCSIadapterwhichonlyrequiresasingleoperatingvoltageof+5V.

The LED mounted on the top of the printed circuit board indicates a correct powering of the
adapter.
