Strategies for ACK kontra TB program

A.BHW involvement as a TB Tx Partner The BHW will undergo trainings and seminars to be a competent TB Tx partners. They will serve as the eyes of the TB committee in the different barangay health station. B. Decentralization Tutok-gamutan

RHU TB Committee

TB Tx Partners

BHS

Tutok-gamutan/Househouse

The decentralization strategy will help the TB patients to have an easy access on their TB medications. Based on the result of the needs assessment tool one factor that hinders compliance is the distance of RHU (where they get their medication) from their house on difficulty of transportation. With this, we formulated this dispensation strategy. The TB committee will delegate the TB medication to the trained BHWs (TB treatment partners). The BHWs will stay at BHS so that the patient will go to them every morning and take their anti-TB drugs in their presence. If a patient failed to visit the BHS, the BHW will go directly to their house and personally give the medication. Through this strategy , the BHW can closely monitor the patients treatment regimen compliance .

C. Patient Treatment Record

The daily treatment record will reflect the compliance of the patient. The BHW will sign on the date once the patient takes the medication on his/her presence. D. Monthly Compliance Record The BHW will compile the DTR and will submit a report to the TB committee in the RHU. The record includes list of patients who religiously comply and who fails to take the medication regularly. E. Monthly Counseling A member of the TB committee presides the health counseling every end of the month. The BHW will assist the session. The families of the patient will be encouraged to participate in this activity. Basically this counseling will deal with the patients feelings towards the treatment and in return we hope that through this counseling the compliance to treatment will increase. The TB committee member (nurse/midwife) will also have a chance to talk to the patients families and assess how they are coping with their situation.
