COrnNGS & EMBANKMENTS
36. Theas nil1 be shown in BLACK rocording to the style in dunex 'C, bat r i l l
not bs shown when the embankment is lesa than 75 yds in length or 5 R in
height. Th- symbols may be omitted along muls and rsilwsys in monn-
tainous country where the contours indicate extensive embankments and cut-
tings. They will not be used an light railways i t plantations.
DRAINAGE

BLUE. Rivers will be double-cased if ita ~ c t u s widthl can be shown true
to scale without s q g e r a t i o u , otherwise rivers will be sllowt as n solid
blue line.
(e) Names: Namea of all rivers, lakes, straits, rstusries, ooenns, canals, etc.
will be shown in BLUE.
(b) Dams, tmpoundlng and Servios Ressrvolrs: The shoreline of these festuretr
will lm in BLUE but mly (man-made) retaining walls will be in BLACK.
(c) Abandoned Mlnlng Pools: When filled with water these will be treated
se n normal pond or Inlie.
(d) Flsh Traps: These will he shown in rivers but not off-share.
SWAMPS
30. The basic symbol for S w m p whether Fresh Watar or Tidal will be tbe BLUE
a w e n assllown in Annex 'C'. The vegetation growing in swamps will be
depicted as follows :-
(a) Jungle: By overprintirtg the swamp aynlbol with tbe Jungle screen.
(c) Nlpah: As for Jungle Swamp but overprinted with the Nip11 symbol
Eea Annex 'C.
(B) R h e r Names: Tlte Swamp screen may be eliminated for river nsmsa but
if p m i b l e river nnmes will be insgrted in a position clear of the swamp.
