Raman 2013 [RMCRBPt1]

The month of Raman is fast approaching. Aside from the main focus of fasting during the day and
praying at night, Raman is a time also for reflection, particularly regarding our relationship with
Allah. Given that this years fast will be particularly long, attention invariably turns to how to fill
ones time with productive acts. Hence the reason for the preparation of this short crib-sheet which
has some Duas and reminders from the Qurn and the Sunnah. I hope that this benefits you all as
it has benefited me.

Duas from the Qurn:

....

There is no god but you, glory be to you; surely I am of those who make themselves to suffer loss.
[21: 87]

....
Our Lord! We have been unjust to ourselves, and if you forgive us not, and have (not) mercy on us,
we shall certainly be of the losers.
[7: 23]

....

Our Lord! Thou hast not created this in vain! Glory be to Thee; save us then from the chastisement
of the fire:
Our Lord! Surely whomsoever you make enter the fire, him Thou hast indeed brought to disgrace,
and there shall be no helpers for the unjust:
Our Lord! Surely we have heard a preacher calling to the faith, saying: Believe in your Lord, so we
did believe; Our Lord! Forgive us therefore our faults, and cover our evil deeds and make us die
with the righteous.
Our Lord! Grant us what Thou hast promised us by Thy apostles; and disgrace us not on the day of
resurrection; surely Thou dost not fail to perform the promise.
[3: 191 / 194]

Importance of Dua:

And your Lord says: Call upon Me - I will answer you; surely those who are too proud for My
service shall soon enter hell abased.
[40: 60]

( Muslim)
Told us Qutayba ibn Saeed and Zuhri ibn arb (and this is the wording from Qutayba who said) told
us Jarir from al-Amash from Abu li from Abu Hurayrah who reported Allah's Messenger (peace
be upon him) as saying that Allah, the Exalted and Glorious stated: I am near to the thought of My
servant as he thinks about Me, and I am with him as he remembers Me. And if he remembers Me in
his heart, I also remember him in My Heart, and if he remembers Me in assembly I remember him in
assembly, better than his (remembrance), and if he draws near Me by the span of a palm, I draw
near him by the cubit, and if he draws near Me by the cubit I draw near him by the space (covered by)
two hands. And if he walks towards Me, I rush towards him.

Told us Yaya ibn Ayub and Qutayba and ibn ujr, they said: told us Ismeel Yanoon ibn Jafar
from al-Ala from his father from Abu Hurayrah, that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)
said: When one of you makes a supplication (to his Lord) one should not say: O Allah, grant me
pardon, if Thou so likest, but one should beg one's (Lord) with a will and full devotion, for there is
nothing so great in the eye of Allah which He cannot grant.

Remembrance & Praise:

( Muslim & Bukhri)

Told us Muammad ibn Abdallah ibn Numayr and Zuhayr ibn arb and Abu Kareeb and Muammad
ibn aref al-Bajali, they said: told us ibn Fueel from Umrah ibn al-Qahqah from Abu Zura from
Abu Hurayrah who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: Two are the expressions
which are light on the tongue, but heavy in scale, dear to the Compassionate One Hallowed be
Allah and praise is due to Him ; Hallowed be Allah, the Great.

.

( Muslim)
Told me Muammad ibn Abdil-Malik al-Amwe told us Abdal-Aziz ibn al-Mukhtr from Suhail from
Sumaya from Abu li from Abu Hurayrah who said that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon
him) said: He who recites in the morning and in the evening (these words) - Hallowed be Allah and
all praise is due to Him - one hundred times, he would not bring on the Day of Resurrection anything
excellent than this except one who utters these words or utters more than these words.

Various Dua:

(Sunan Tirmidhi)
Told us Abu Musa al-Anri told us Muwiya ibn Mud from Abu Kab ib al-arir, told me Shahr
ibn awshab, who said: I said to Umm Salamah: O Mother of the Believers! What was the
supplication that the Messenger of Allah said most frequently when he was with you? She said:
The supplication he said most frequently was: O Changer of the hearts, make my heart firm upon
Your religion (Ya Muqallibal-Qulub, Thabbit Qalbi Ala Dinik). She said: So I said: O Messenger of
Allah, why do you supplicate so frequently: O Changer of the hearts, make my heart firm upon Your
religion. He said: O Umm Salamah! Verily, there is no human being except that his heart is between
two fingers of the fingers of Allah, so whomsoever He wills He makes steadfast, and whomever He
wills He causes to deviate.

( Muslim)
