THE SECOND COMING OF JESUS CHRIST Pastor Sean Pinder Im going to preach a little bit about the Resurrection;

I need to. I have to preach a little bit about the Second Coming of Jesus. He is coming again, ready or not. Whether you believe it or not, He is coming. I dont care how much unbelief you have; He is coming again. I dont remember the last day I heard somebody preach about the Second Coming of Jesus. God is calling the Church back to preaching the real Gospel. You know, they used to sing that song back in the Bahamas: Soon and very soon, / We are going to see the King. Do you know that song? Soon and very soon, We are going to see the King! Soon and very soon, We are going to see the King! Soon and very soon, We are going to see the King! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! We are going to see the King! No more dying there; We are going to see the King! No more dying there; We are going to see the King! No more dying there;

We are going to see the King! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! We are going to see the King! Thats what I am living for! I am living my life because there is coming a Day when Jesus Christ is going to split the skies open and He is coming back for a Church without spot and without wrinkle (Eph. 5:27). He is coming back for a people who are ready! He is not coming for a lukewarm church. He is not coming for a backslidden church. He is coming for a Church that is praying; a Church that is fasting; a Church that is watching; a Church that is on fire for God! I envy the Apostle Paul when I read some of his words. It is not a bad envy; it is a good envy. I read some of the stuff the Holy Ghost wrote through this man and I think, When is it going to be my time, Lord? When is it going to be my time? Did you know the apostles expected Jesus to return in their day? I get troubled when the church is not longing for Jesus to come back. It troubles me mightily. We are becoming so attached to this world; we are becoming worldly as if we are going to be here forever!

Lets look at 2 Timothy 4. Paul charges Timothy in verses 1 and 2 to preach the Gospel. He said, You are standing before God; youd better preach it in season and out of season. Preach it when they want to hear it, and preach it when they dont want to hear it. Let me go into verse 3: For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; Are you seeing this? It is scary, isnt it? This man is preaching about the last days. Do you realize we are living in the last days? Do you know when the last days began? Joel prophesied in Joel 2:28, And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh Fifty days after Jesus ascended into Heaven, the last days began. They began on the Day of Pentecost, because the Bible says they were in the upper room, praying. Joels prophecy was about to be fulfilled. They were praying; they were in one place and on one accord. Do you know how long they had been waiting? They had been waiting for ten days and ten nights without moving.

That is my kind of company. That is a long time to stay in a prayer meeting, isnt it? They knew Jesus told them in Luke 24:49: And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high. In other words, Wait for the promise. Dont move until you be endued with power from on high. They tarried for ten days and the Bible says, all of a sudden, the Holy Ghost came as of a rushing mighty wind (Acts 2:2). I remember when He rushed into my house one night. I told my wife I felt like a freight train was coming towards me! POW! It was the Holy Ghost. Everybody woke up! Yes, the Holy Ghost fell on the Day of Pentecost; 50 days after Jesus ascended into Heaven. The last days began on that day, because His Spirit was poured out on all flesh. The Bible says there were people gathered from every nation under the heavens. Then, the Apostle Peter goes on to give them a little information. Peter said, For these are not drunken, as ye supposeBut this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; and it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh (Acts 2:15-17). When He poured His Spirit out on the Day of Pentecost, the last days began. That is pretty intense, isnt it?

The Apostle Paul expected Jesus to come in his day. Isnt that amazing? I have studied every move of God that I know about that has been on the face of this earth. Whenever there is a real move of God in the midst, people do not only turn from sin, become holy and start seeking God in prayer and fasting. In every move of God, there is also a longing for the return of Jesus. Isnt that amazing? John the apostle said, He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus (Rev. 22:20). In other words, he is saying, Dont wait, Lord. Ive had enough of this filthy world! He is begging Jesus to come. And the Spirit and the bride say, Come (Rev. 22:17). Who is the Bride? We are. We had better line up with the Bible and the Holy Ghost. The Spirit and the bride say, Come. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. I am tired of this world. I cant wait for it to be over. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears. These teachers are telling them what they want to hear. And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. (2 Tim. 2:4)

These people keep listening to stuff that they know is not true. It is pretty scary, isnt it? Watch this, though; I love verse 5. This is a command, not just to Timothy, but to the whole Church in every generation. The Apostle Paul had told Timothy in 2 Tim. 3: This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves (2 Tim. 3:1-2). Then he went down the list of all the things that are going to happen in the last days. Then he tells him in verse 5 of 2 Tim. 4: But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry. What word did he use? He said, But watch thou in all things I am talking about the Second Coming of Jesus. The Lord dealt with me so strongly one week; I was going over notes and going over the Bible in the New Testament. The Holy Ghost was pointing stuff out to me. I could not believe how many times He said, Watch. Do you know what watch means? It means to spend some time waiting before God. Lets look at Mark 13:32. Listen to what Jesus says: But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.

Jesus doesnt even know when He is coming back! Isnt that amazing? Only the Father knows. Jesus is waiting on the Boss Man; He is waiting on God. Doesnt that put us to shame? If Jesus, the Son of God, Who has all power and authority in His hands, has to wait on God, who do we think we are to not wait on Him? Only God knows when Jesus is coming back. Look at verse 33: Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is. The verse says, Take ye heed What is the next word? The next word is watch. Count how many times you see the word watch in the next couple of verses I am about to show you. This is a warning to the body of Christ and everyone that is on the face of this earth to know that He is coming back; to have the knowledge that He is coming back. He does not want us to be caught unaware. He is not going to catch me like a thief in the night (2 Pet. 3:10) because I am expecting Him. Why did He say, Take ye heed? Jesus is trying to tell us because He loves us, I dont even know when Im coming back. The angels dont even know. So, you know the devil doesnt have a clue when He is coming back. I want you to know something; the devil is not omniscient. Omniscient means allknowing. Only God knows all things. The

devil does not know what you are thinking. He can offer you some suggestions and, if you rebuke it, then he knows, That mans holy; he doesnt even want to accept my evil thoughts. However, if he sees you after three or four weeks have gone by and you have not rebuked that thought yet, then he knows what you are thinking because he put it there. The devil does not know all things. I will prove it to you again in the book of Jeremiah. They were trying to kill Jeremiah and the Bible says the Lord took him and hid him. They could not even find Jeremiah; God hid him. Isnt that amazing? Did you know God could bring you to a place in your relationship with Him that sometimes the devil cant even see you? He couldnt see Job because God said, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth (Job 1:8). Do you know what the devil said to God? He should have kept his mouth shut. Only God can make the devil speak the truth, did you know that? The devil said, Man, dont you have a hedge of protection around Job? I cant even touch him! He said, Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? (Job 1:10). I cant even touch Job unless you give me permission, the devil said. That is the kind of God I serve! That was when the devil had a little power. He had

a little power, yet he could not even touch Job! How much more can he not touch us now that he doesnt have any power? Isnt that amazing? The devil said, You have this man covered on every side. I cant even get to his wagon tire! You have that covered! Jesus said in Mark 13:33: Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is. We do not know the day or the hour when He is coming back. I do not want to be caught sleeping; I do not want to be caught dabbling. Verse 34 says: For the Son of Man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch. The Church is His house. Do you know what a porter is? When you are sailing a ship, a porter is someone who keeps watch to see if there are any big rocks, ice bergs, or anything like that. A porter is also somebody who helps take care of the sheep. He stands watch at the gate, making sure no wolf or anything is going to try to sneak up on them. I am the pastor of my flock; He commands me to watch. Watching is not a choice for a pastor; it is a command. It is not optional. Did you notice that was the second time we saw the word watch? Look at verse 35:

Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: Now, listen to me. Jesus is the Son of God with all wisdom. With all the choices of words He could have used, for Him to say this word this many times in these small, tiny verses, it really must be important for the Church. God does not just repeat stuff to be cute or pretty. Watch this: Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping. (Mark 13:36) This is scary, isnt it? I do not want Him to catch me sleeping. I am on the job. If He meets me sleeping, it will be because I fell asleep watching. That is fine with Him, because I am on the job! Look at this next verse. You know, some people like to say, The ministry of intercession is just for the frozen few over there. One or two people will go around saying, This person is an intercessor, but not that person. That person is an intercessor, but not these, surely not! Jesus is going to blow that thing out of the water right now. Where do they get this from? You are an intercessor, but you are not. There is only one Intercessor; His Name is the Holy Ghost. Then

theres another One called Jesus. He sits on the right hand of God and Heever liveth to make intercession for [us] (Heb. 7:25). Rom. 8:26-27 says: Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. The next verse in Mark 13 says, And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch. He said, And what I say unto you I say unto all That means He says it to every generation, to every church, and to every nation under Heaven, And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch. Did you see that? He calls all of us to be watchmen. Some of us choose not to obey. That is why some people are so ignorant when it comes to spiritual things; they do not spend time with God. Some people will fight you tooth and nail because they are carnal. The minute I started watching as a baby Christian, the Holy Ghost started teaching me the Bible so fast. It was very fastquick, quick, quick. Do you know what the book of Habakkuk says? It says, I will stand upon my

watch (Hab. 2:1). Habakkuk said, While Im watching, Im going to stand; I dont even want to sit down. I might fall asleep! He said, I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved. Do you want answers from God quickly? Do you want to know what God is about to do in your life? Sit up, watch, and pray. Habakkuk said next, And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it (Hab. 2:2). Have you heard that Scripture before? That Scripture came from out of a watch night; somebody was waiting before God. So Jesus said, And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch. That is why He could tell the disciples, Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation (Mark 14:38). He did not just say pray, because He knew praying alone was not going to do it. It takes watching and praying not to fall. If you are just praying, you are going to be falling pretty soon. Do you hear me? Lets go back into 2 Tim. 4:5: But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

Look at what he told Timothy, who was a young pastor: Do the work of an evangelist He did not say he had to be called to evangelism or called to the office of an evangelist to do evangelism. Jesus calls everybody to be a soul-winner; even the young children. Now we are going to get to the words where I get jealous! Listen to what Paul tells Timothy: For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand (2 Tim. 4:6). See, Nero was getting ready to behead Paul, just like John the Baptist got his head chopped off. So Paul is writing this letter to Timothy to tell him, For I am now ready You have to be ready right now because you do not know when Jesus is coming. Isnt that amazing? You do not know when He is coming back. Paul said, For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. In other words, he was saying, Timothy, Im leaving. My bags are packed. The time of my departure is at hand. I knew some people who were a little strong when they were dying. They were smiling, laughing, and waving to everybody on their death bed. They were waving to folks; they were leaving. Isnt that amazing? My grandpa, after he made things right and he knew he was getting ready to die, was happy on his deathbed. The nurse

said he died singing, Oh, When the Saints Go Marching In. Those were not the New Orleans saints, either! He died singing one of those songs; he was happy. I remember my grandma on her deathbed. She was blinded from her sickness and she felt my hands and said, Oh, thats my little boy! I broke down crying; I was 12 years old. She was dying and she was happy. She went on to be with Jesus. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. (2 Tim. 4:7) I want to live long enough to finish my race. Each one of us has our own race set before us. Paul said, I have kept the faith. I remember my dads pastor. He died at age 82. That man was on fire for God. He could preach the house down at age 82! Isnt that amazing? I remember when he was dying; my dad and I went to go see him. My dad said, Lay hands on my son. He was a smart daddy. I thought, Yay! Let me get blessed. Dont let that old veteran leave this earth without putting those two big, old hands on me! Not with the fire he has! He laid hands on me and he prayed for me; he prayed the Holy Ghost on me. He was happy! Ill see him again someday. Guess what his name was? It was Emmanuel. That means, God is with us, but God was about to leave us! Seriously, he

was a lovely old man who loved God. You could not sit down when he was preaching. Paul said, I have kept the faith. That old pastor kept the faith. He did his job. This next verse is our verse: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. (2 Tim. 4:8) I like this. This verse is conditional; that is why I want to show it to you. That is why I told you that, in every move of God, people long to be with Jesus. That is what we need to pray for. The verse says the crown of righteousness shall be given to all them also that love his appearing. Do you know what His appearing is? His appearing is His Second Coming. Do you love knowing that He is coming to get you? Some of you dont remember the last day you even thought about that. Paul said, Im not going to be the only one getting this crown. Everybody who is longing to see Jesus is getting it. Are you longing to see Him? He is coming again. You know, when the disciples saw the cloud come and take Jesus into Heaven, two men in white appeared to them in the book of Acts chapter 1. They

said, this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven (Acts 1:11). The same way He went up into heaven, Hes going to come again. I am here to tell you, He is coming. You had better be ready. Dont get ready; its time to be ready. He can come any second. The Bible says, Every eye shall see him (Rev. 1:7). That is going to be something! Lets look at 1 Thess. 4:13. Do you have some family members in Heaven? This verse is for us: But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. (1 Thess. 4:13) This is the Apostle Paul again; he is talking to Christians. He says, But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep He is talking about the ones who are dead. He is talking in this verse to any one of us who have dead family members who went on that were saved and walking with Jesus. He is saying there comes a time when you can release your grief and let it go because you have hope that you are going to see them again.

For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. (1 Thess. 4:14) Paul is talking to the people who are alive now; they are us. I like this. I get excited reading it. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. (1 Thess. 4:15) I love what Jesus said in the book of John. He said, If a man believes in me, though he dies, yet shall he live again. Do you want to know why Jesus said that? Job had asked a question in the book of Job. He said, If a man die, shall he live again? (Job 14:14). Jesus said, Yes, he will live again if he dies in me. Look at verse 16: For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first. This verse says, For the Lord himself Not Elijah or Moses. This job is too valuable; He cannot trust any of the prophets with this job! It says, [He] shall descend from heaven with a shout Even Jesus is noisy; that is Who I take after! It did not say He

would come down silently and politely. It did not say He would come cute and dignified. That is going to be something when He shouts! Like the Bible says, at Lazarus grave, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth (John 11:43). Look at what 1 Thess. 4:16 says is going to happen to our dead family members: And the dead in Christ shall rise first. We are going to see them again. I am getting happy. I have Grandmas body lying down in that grave. The dead in Christ are going to rise. That slab of concrete is going to pop open. My brother is going to be saying in the air, Hey Ricky! That is what they call me back home. Im going to say, Hey, big bro! Hang tight! Itll only be a couple of seconds! Sometimes, Im envious of those dead folks because they are going to be with Jesus before we will by a couple of seconds. The dead in Christ shall rise first. What a day thats going to be! The saints of old used to sing that song, What a day that will be, / When my Jesus I shall see. / When He takes me by the hand / And leads me to the Promised Land! Isnt that awesome? Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words. (1 Thess. 4:17-18)

This is a promise. You will say, Its a bird! Its a plane! Its not Superman; its Sean! I like it. Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them Isnt that awesome? I cant wait! I like the end of verse 17: And so shall we ever be with the Lord. No more separation from Jesus. Verse 18 says, Wherefore comfort one another with these words. That is why I showed this to you; to comfort you.
