What things influenced you to become a missionary? Your own story in some detail might be influential in leading others into fulltime service (use back of sheet for more space) ? Through personal Bible study and prayer, through the reading of much missionary
material, and through personal contact with consecrated missionaries I have reached three basic conclusions... that Jesus is the Savior of the whole world;

that everyone who has not heard the Gospel is lost; and that every Christian
must do evervthinq he can to win everyone in the world to Christ. The constant

realization that only o^-third of the world is even nominally Christian and
that the Lord will hold us responsible for not reaching the lost with His mes

sage of salvation has led us, after much prayer consideration,to say,"Here am

the English-speaking people, we have cast our eyes to the vast area of Latin America, where entire countries with millions of souls have not one witness

It is our desire to evangelize among the Spanish-speaking

The Lord has opened a great door unto us through Southern Christian College, where I am at present serving as instructor while engaged in language study. My wife, Dorothy, is serving the college as dietician and dean of women, I also serve as dean of men. Not only
has this arrangement provided an opportunity to learn the Spanish language from the Mexican professors here, but it also affords an
excellent opportunity to study Mexican habits and customs first-hand.

There are about 250,000 people of Latin-American descent in San

Dear Christian friends:

SOUTHERN MEXICO CHRISTIAN MISSION

'For Some Hove Nof The Knowledge Of God'

I Cor. 15:34

Bill Morgan

The vast area of Latin America presents a tremendous challenge to the Churches of Christ. There is only one missionary among the 12 million people of Southern Mexico no Church of Christ has been established south of Mexico City an area 840 miles
to the Guatemalan boarder. Beyond this lies 1000 miles of Central America, with

II million people and no missionaries. In South America, with a population of 132 million, we have missionaries in only Brazil and Chile. Among the 7 million Chileans
only one missionary family is now laboring.

These people desperately need to hear the Gospel of Christ, but how shall they hear without a preacher? As preachers of the Gospel, we are ready to go, but how shall
we preach except we be sent? (Romans 10:14, 15)

For this reason, we are inviting you to become co-workers with us and laborers to gether with God in Latin American Evangelism. Will you help send us to these lost souU and support us as we labor there?

The Morgan family will move to San Antonio, Texas, September I, I960, where they will work with Southern Christian College on a missionary basis while undertaking language study. Within the city of San Antonio alone are over 250,000 people of Latin American descent, and nearly a million such people-in South Texas.
Both families hope to enter Southern MexFco during the summer of 1961. If unable to enter Mexico for missionary work, we will go to some other country of this needy Latin American field. We need your prayers and support NOW!

To Whom It May Concern:

The bearer of this letter, William Jay Morgan, was ordained to the Christian ministry by the elders of this congregation in 1950. He had attended Marshall College and graduated from Kentucky Christian College at Grayson, Kentucky. He later took graduate work at Cincinnati Bible Seminary,
Bill, as he is affectionately known, ministered to the Church

at Pomeroy, Ohio; Chapmanville, West Virginia; Moscow, Ohio; and Booker, Texas. He was called to be the Tri-State Evangel ist for the Kyowva Evangelistic Association and after serving for some time in that capacity, resigned to accept a professor ship at Grundy Bible Institute at Grundy, Virginia, and also served as Church-Planting Evangelist for the Grundy Church of Christ, As a result of this, he was assigned to minister to the newly-organized Church at Haysi, Virginia,
Brother Bill has now resigned as professor at Grundy Bible Institute and minister at Haysi, Virginia, having felt a call to carry the Gospel to Latin America, particularly southern
Mexico, where the Church of Christ has no missionaries and

where the field is difficult due to Roman Catholic domination.

Since he was ordained by the elders of this congregation, and

feeling that this is his home Church, he has expressed himself

Knowing Bill as we do, we wholeheartedly approve and recommend

him as a loyal, sincere Christian preacher of the Word and are confident that he is worthy of any support the churches can give him, either financially or by their prayers.

As he enters into the preparatory stage of this work that he feels the Lord has called him to do, we send him forth with
our blessing and our prayers.

Yours in His service.

SOUTHERN CHRISTIAN COUEGE

FROM THE PRESIDENT

This letter recently crossed my desk and I feel it well represents our sentiments here at Southern Christian College.
"Dear Friend:

As I have opportunity to talk with young people it surprises me how very few of them realize that it is possible to devote four years to concentrated study of the Word of God and then in one more year of college work get an authentic degree recognized by all the established accrediting associations.

We strongly recommei^ Uiat high school graduates consider Bible training b^ore r^;alar liberal arts study. For one thing, it helps them find the will of God for their lives so that
the rest of their education becomes more meaningful. Also it imdei^rds them with a sense

of purpose and such an understanding of the Word of God that their Christian witness among

college classmates is firmly established, being founded on the impregnable rock of the -Holy ^
Scriptures. .

If this man sets such a value iqron Bible study alter high school, how much more must thousands of parents whose sons and daughters have been led into worldly ambiUon to the neglect of their spiritual lives,"or even departures from the faith. Such par ents wish their children had been given this opportunity to get well acquainted with the Lord and to have learned to love His Word and rest iqpon it. And this is possible at the cost of only one year
if it comes before college.

duated from one ofBoston's great universities with the hi^est honors. Both earnedtheir way

While in New England a few weeks ago I was in the home of a man whose two sons gra-

love the Lord and one expects to be a medical missionary. This father said to me, 'Tf we had

One of the perennial problems at the Institute is the balance between direct evangelism and the preparation and help of others to do the work. There are so many things to do, and yet this Institute cannot and should not try to do them all. But there are certain things to whichthe Lord seems definitely to have called us and for which He provides the opportunities, the abilities and the means. When this is the case, it has been traditionally true that the
Institute has entered the field with a desire to do the best possible job for the glory of God. This has sometimes led some to wonder jiist what the Institute is; a school? a radio station? a literature mission? a film producer? or what? It is all these things, but the first,

the greatest, the most important thing we do is pour the Word of God into young lives that it
may become incarnate there. Then as it is sown later in the field that is the world, it will
bring the harvest God is seeking.

Our radio ministry, blessed as it has been, will never attain to the effectiveness of those fine young men and women who have gone from here into radio work the world around.
I -

So this Institute is a school first and foremost. It is a Bible Institute with no axxCbition of being anything else. Its work is the effective proclamation of the Word of God; by all means until Jesus comes. And we look into the faces of the young men and women who have

just come to us as beginning students, it is our prayer that in all they hear and see at this
Institute they may be set on fire by the living Word to do great things with God.
So pray with us for these young people. They have come to walk with God."

There is also CommUNist peace in the mainland of China, in North. Korea, :n North-Vietnam and in Tibet. The last nation to enter the "fold" lies

The threat is coming ever nearer and near er, now within 90 miles of our shores. The United States will be the final battleground, no doubt, between freedom and slavery, athe
