National Surveys
To support the implementation of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers and other teacher quality initiatives, AITSL will be conducting three national online surveys from August to December 2013. While each survey has a different focus, they are all seeking the views of practising teachers and school leaders to inform and shape future work.

Classroom Practice Survey

AITSL is constructing a classroom observation instrument that is aligned to the teacher Standards. The instrument will support teachers to understand what it actually looks like to improve their classroom practice and provide direction for their future development and growth Survey purpose: To describe the levels of sophistication amongst teachers of their classroom practices Focus: Developing a continuum of increasing proficiency in classroom practice Who: We are inviting all teachers in educational settings to participate by completing this survey When: opening in August 2013

Learning Frontiers Student Engagement Survey

AITSL has initiated a project focused on student engagement in learning entitled Learning Frontiers. The project aims to define and lead development of professional practices to support the successful delivery of the Australian Curriculum in an increasingly digital and globalised environment, paying particular attention to 21st century skills. Survey purpose: To collect base-line data on the extent to which students are engaged in learning in schools and their communities Who: We are inviting all teachers and school leaders to participate by completing the Student Engagement Survey. (A version will be made available for community members) When: opening in September 2013

Evaluation of the Standards Survey

AITSL in partnership with the University of Melbourne is conducting a three year process and impact evaluation of the Standards. The evaluation aims to determine the usefulness, effectiveness of implementation and impact of the Standards on improving teacher quality. Survey purpose: To collect base-line data on how the teacher Standards are being used and implemented at a school-level Focus: Teachers and school leaders knowledge, attitudes towards, use of, and perceived impact of the Standards in Australian schools Who: We are inviting all teachers and school leaders to participate in the Evaluation of the Standards by completing the National Survey. (A version will be made available for the higher education sector and distributed separately) When: opening in October 2013
