The Effectiveness of Wet Cupping Therapy Against The Reduction of Hypercholesterolemias Patient Blood Cholesterol Level in Rumah Sehat

ABSTRACT Background: hypercholesterolemia is a condition when the cholesterol level inside the patient body exceeds normal condition. It is not only the factor that causes stroke, coronary heart disease, myocardial infarction but also the factor causes death in young age. There are a lot of hypercholesterolemias patients using the wet cupping therapy to cure their disease. It is a process to pull out dirty blood inside our body thorough skin surface. The aim of this research is to find out the effectiveness of wet cupping therapy against reduction of blood cholesterol level for patient of Hypercholesterolemia. Methodology Research: this research is a pre experimental research using one group pretest posttest design which is goes over the connection among the variable before and after the cupping therapy. This research was conducting on January until February 2012 in Rumah Sehat Dompet Dhuafa in Balikpapan. The populations are the patients of Rumah Sehat Dompet Dhuafa Balikpapan. Twenty five samples were chosen by using non probability sampling with purposive sampling technique. Independent variable of this research is wet cupping therapy. And the dependent variable is cholesterol level. Data submitted by using questioner and cholesterol level check. Data analyzed using dependent T-test with <0, 05 level of significance. Result: the result of dependent statistical analysis using a pair of T-test obtained twenty five correspondents who have high level of cholesterol with the average 219, 52 mg/dl before treatment and 185, 76 mg/dl after treatment. On the hypothesis test using dependent T-test obtained thitung is bigger than ttabel (6,414 > 2,064) and the significance value is less than alpha (0,000 < 0,050). So that H0 is denied and H1 is accepted, it means that there is a difference result of variable before and after treatment by using wet cupping therapy. Conclusion: wet cupping therapy is effective against the reduction of Hypercholesterolemias patient blood cholesterol
