AN LESSON IN PRACTICE Alex Green After a brief reiteration of the Learn Method, the Communicative Approach and the importance of classroom observations, three ingredients in the recipe for success, teachers will have the opportunity to watch a typical 50-minute lesson. In pairs, they will then assess the teachers teaching skills and a group discussion will ensue, during which teachers will express their opinions.

DYSLEXIA FOR TEACHERS OF ENGLISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE (DysTEFL) Gill Mackie This seminar, the first in a series to be conducted throughout the school year, is based on a training course (DysTEFL) developed by seven partners from Poland, Hungary, the UK, the Czech Republic, Germany and Austria for teachers of English as a foreign language. The DysTEFL project has been funded with support from the European Commission. This session includes a brief introduction to the nature of dyslexia and specific learning difficulties associated with dyslexia, provides hands-on tasks on the effect of dyslexia on foreign language learning, describes the kinds of accommodations which can be offered to dyslexic learners in the foreign language classroom and suggests teaching techniques which can improve learning. 13:00-14:00 LUNCH BREAK

A-Z OF VERY YOUNG LEARNERS WORKSHOP Gill Mackie Comprehensive and engaging as ELT books for very young learners may be, it is the teacher who truly brings learning to life in the classroom. This is especially true of teachers of very young learners. During this workshop we will investigate suitable activities, approaches and techniques which take into account the key characteristics, needs and strengths of very young learners in our continuing effort to provide the best possible learning experience to EUROGNOSI students.

ADULT LEARNERS Alex Green During this seminar, there will be an introduction to the concept andragogical vs pedagogical learning and principles for teaching adult learners will be presented. Teaching tips on motivation, classroom management and the teachers role in the communicative classroom shall be presented and emphasis will be placed on skill integration. Theres something new coming to EUROGNOSI Gill Mackie This seminar is divided into two parts: 1. A short presentation on the difference between the new PREMIUM, STANDARD and VALUE courses. 2. A presentation of GLOBAL EDUCATION, the new innovative short cross-curricular/content-based course for Premium EK1-EK3 students. During the course, students complete a variety of tasks (Webquests, projects, surveys, questionnaires, blogs, etc) in English with the use of specific materials and resources.
