Summary:
Mohadas Gandhi was a shy, little boy in India. He grew up loving his mother who taught him the meaning of obedience. He had also great respect for his religion. But before he became a master of himself, Mohandas had gone through different adventures in his life. When he was twelve years old, Mohandas was tempted by his friend to disobey his mother and the rules in their religion. His friend Mehtab invited Mohandas one day to a meat-eating party near the river. Mohandas knew that it is contrary to their religion and his mothers rule but because of Mehtabs persuasion and reasoning that meat can strengthen our body and can prevent boils and tumors, Mohandas was tempted to eat some. After the meal, Mohandas was bothered and could not sleep that night. He was very much afraid. He knew he had disobeyed his mother and their religion. Mohandas since then had promised to himself that he would never eat meat again.

Days passed, Mohandas who was already thirteen years old, was again tempted by the classmate and offered him a cigarette. Before long, Mohandas and his classmates were picking up cigarette butts thrown by Mohandas uncle. They were smoking them for the first time. Later on, Mohandas realised that smoking is not good but his classmate insisted to buy a real cigarette and suggested that they will going to steal some money from the servants place. This time, Mohandas firmly rejected his classmates suggestion and had promised to himself that he will never smoke cigarettes again. At another time, Mohandas saw his brother feeling very sad. He asked the reason and his brother told him that it is all about money. He owe somebody some amount of money and has to return it as soon as possible. After hearing this, Mohandas thought it over. After much thinking he came to a decision. He would get that debt paid soon. But he had no earnings. He could not ask his father nor his mother, and of course not his uncle. So he stole a bit of gold from his fathers safe to pay off his brothers debt. This later troubled him very much and later on, confess it to his father. His father said My son, as long as you can face the truth without feeling bad, I shall forgive you. But even if what you want to do is good, if the way you do it is wrong, the act becomes bad. Mohandas cried and promised his father that he would not do anything unlawful from then on. Never again! he said.

From that day on, he kept his promise. Little by little, he formed the habit of forgetting what he did not like and carried out what he liked because it was right. He disciplined himself in this way up until he became the greatest leader of his country.

Moral lesson:
The story tells us that our size or our age doesnt matter if we want to do something good for others. There is no hopeless or impossible situation if we only believe and have faith... This is a perfect example of how young Mohandas uses his God given talent despite his young age. We need to take courageous action in the face of fearful circumstances and trust that God will fight for all of us who believes in Him. We should always remember that God's opinion is the only one that matters. Even we are facing a giant problem or impossible situation, we should not lose hope and stop for a minute and refocus so we can see the situation more clearly from God's vantage point.
