to get her smile and laughter backbut it Is back! Last spring she began working as a desk clerk at a motel In northeast El Paso. She has always enjoyed people, and this job has been very good for her. It does not pay the best, but she has received a couple of raises in that time, and she Is receiving a limited amount of child support. This provides her with the dignity of providing for herself and her family. So much has been accomplished in their lives In the past year. Kevin is now seven years old, almost half-way through first grade. Last spring and this fall he played soccer in an organized league. It has taught him a lot about work ing with a team and winning and losing. He is doing very well in school. The major difficulty he has Is with talking too much and not following classroom rules very well. We have instituted an Incentive program to encourage better behavior, and it is having a pretty good rate of success. Kevin enjoys math the most. He has very good penman ship. He has a lot of friendsand he is beginning to use the telephone to call them. Christopher is in pre-klnder He will be five in March. He Is enjoying his school experience a lot. He goes to a

nursery In the morning, and they put him on the school bus as 12:00. We pick him up at Kevin's school at 4:30.
It is hard for him to understand why he cannot have as much freedom as his brother. He is a very lovable little

a real growth spurt, and we are very pleased that she and her family are now a part of this fine congregation. (One Sunday in November they had 195 in attendance at mor ning worship.) The boys are involved in the Wednesday evening youth program, and they really like itand we are happy for all of them. With Kathy's work almost shut down during the sum mer, she had a lot of time to just be a grandmother. (It was also a time that her health was not too goodshe was sick for nearly eight weeks. She is just now beginning to "get back to normal", it has been a very slow process.) We still get a lot of opportunity to grandparent the boys because they arrive at our house at 6:15 a.m. each school day, their mother needing to be at work by 7:00 a.m. Lynn and Shannon were home in July. The weekend of the 4th Shannon's folks celebrated their 25th wedding an niversary. They spent some time with us during that week, and Chris and Kevin were able to spend time with them. Lynn has come to believe that he has just about worked out his market in the construction business In Pampa. (Because of the oil situation there the economy has gone bad.) He is beginning to work with raising, buying and sell ing parrots, parakeets, and other exotic birds. He has over twenty pet shops that he services In Kansas, Oklahoma,
and Texas. Both Shannon and he love the bird business,

fellow, and when he laughshe laughs from the tip of his toes to the unruly hair on his head.

and it seems that they have "gone to the birds." You just never know what your children will be doing next. This looks like It may be the last year for Kathy's business of doing typesetting for high schools. One district that she worked with last year purchased typesetters for

all their schools, and the other district is almost certain

year on which the students are to produce their school newspapers. She calls her business FAYE'S FANCY FACES. (Faye is her middle name.) She does have another
customer or two, but the bulk of her work is with school

newspapers. The Lord has always provided, and He will

continue to do so. AT THE CHURCH

In early June Kathy and Iwere involved in a week of Senior High Camp at Mimbres, New Mexico. It was a hard week in some ways because I served as dean, and Kathy work ed very hard as the head cook. Kevin and Chris went with
us and helped keep the week lively. The 15th of June marked our 10th anniversary at Moun tain View Christian Church in Las Cruces. (The 20th was

our 28th wedding anniversary.) The growth of the church is progressing slowly. We have had a number of transfers
and two baptisms so far this year. Another pre-teen wants

to be baptized, but she needs to mature a little more first.

We are looking forward to the showing of the Dobson film series, TURN YOUR HEARTS TOWARD HOME, after the first of the year. We have just completed a three-part

Wednesday evening study on leadership, conducted by

Richard Evanson, minister at Westside Christian Church
here in El Paso.

FROM THE PRINT SHOP

During May and June most of the office staff were in volved with the preparation of the "LatinAmerican Plaza", the 50-foot by 60-foot display. Twenty-three missionaries from the Spanish-speaking world shared their work in one
location. It was a witness to the unity of the work to the

This year nearly 600,000 tracts and pieces of literature for our Spanish brethren have come from the print shop.
This includes 106,000 two-color tracts done in the sum

Average monthly income for Morse Mission for the months of January, February, March and April was $249.90. With response to the letter that Director Bill Baker wrote on our behalf, the income for May was $1,502.50; June, $505.00; July, $572.50; August, $742.50; September,
$495.00; October, 425.00; and November, $565.00. We are

very grateful to the Lord for the response. It is very diffi cult to raise support for this type of work. (We recently found out that Cathy Moreland has put her coming to work with SAE on hold due to difficulty In raising support.) Kathy and I appreciate so very much you who have been

willing to share in our financial needs. You are lifesavers.

Others who are willing to help are needed. Ifyou personal ly or a Sunday School Class or a missions committee are willing to minister to the Spanish-speaking world through literature, Kathy and 1 need additional support.
COMMENTS

Most of the staff spent an extended time out during the summer traveling to speaking dates, VBS, conventions, and vacation time. Kathy and I held the fort.
EVENTS TO COME

Lord willing, Christmas will find Lynn and Shannon in El Paso. We are looking fonward to having a good family
time together.

In January I have been asked to share in a wedding to

be held in Lawrence, Kansas, on the 17th. Amy Smith,

daughter of Stan and Eileen Smith of the church family

in Las Cruces, will be married on that day, and we are ex

cited to have a part in the wedding. It will also afford us an opportunity to take a few extra days to visit with our
families and friends in the Salina and Hill City areas. We are really looking fon/vard to the trip.
