(i) Project Title (ii) Introduction Origin of the research problem In fact heritage aspect of the Indian society is neglected. One of the important parts of heritage is historical monuments. These monuments except few were and are at the verge of destruction. Those who were conscious and aware of the conservation of heritage made surveys of such buildings. For Delhi survey was carried out and a book was published. But a survey made for the monuments of Agra was not known. I came across a manuscript Tafrih-ul Imarat preserved in the IOL and British Museum is a report and record of important buildings of Agra. The English translation from Persian language would make the people aware about their heritage, particularly the heritage related to the historical buildings. Interdisciplinary relevance Obviously it is interdisciplinary covering history, civil engineering and technology, Sociocultural, economic and Political aspects. Review of Research and Development in the Subject: Research on the aspect of heritage in the historical context is neglected. It requires special attention to support such researches. International status This work would highlight how much India is rich in regard of its heritage. Only one city Agra had and has several monumental buildings and the city of Agra is not less important than whole of England. Many hidden or lesser known monuments can be reproduced in a way to attract the visitors from all over the world. National Status Agra is known for Taj Mahal and by highlighting other buildings the importance of the city would be augmented. These new unearthed buildings could be presented as new product to the domestic and as well as foreign tourists. It would be helpful to the local people to make their livelihood and way of living better. Significance of the study It is a rare manuscript dealing with the historical buildings. Many unknown or lesser known buildings shall be highlighted and these can be preserved as national heritage. This work will help to know the civil engineering technology employed in the construction. Through these buildings one can understand socio-economic status of the people.

(iii) Objectives Objective is obvious to identify the historical building and to construct the history of these buildings. Some new light can be thrown on the known existing buildings and to construct history of unknown historical monuments. (iv) Methodology On the basis of the information and references containing in the Tafrih ul Imarat, one can collect information from the literary sources. In addition to literary sources, oral historical traditions and legends can be collected and analysed. One has to go on field trip to see and identify these buildings. (v) Year wise Plan of work and targets to be achieve. In one and half year the manuscripts will be copied, edited and in the next 6 to 12 months, it would be translated into English. In sum one can indicate as such: (i) 12-18 month To copy, type and edit (ii) 06-12 months Translation from Persian to English (vi) Details of collaboration, if any intended N/A
