a healthy environment together with upholding their vision in being a globally productive higher education institution with excellent academic programs in various fields including allied medicine and spearheading proactive research and extension programs and sustainable stewardship of Mt. Banahaw truly made their way in shaping students as better person of today and preparing them as professionals of tomorrow with the mission and vision on their hand as their guide.

History The School of Allied Medicine, now commonly known as the College of Allied Medicine has been offering Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Midwifery and Health Aide courses as the Lucban National College converted into Southern Luzon Polytechnic College by virtue of Batas Pambansa 145 signed into law by then President Ferdinand E. Marcos on February 8, 1982. Since then, COAM, together with its own building constructed during the year of 1981 had undergone unprecedented development and progress. Likewise, the Quezon Medical Center signed into contract as it agreed to be COAMs base hospital. The two government agencies had a strong partnership that soon led in developing and strengthening students competency, knowledge, skills and attitude. The SLPC soon converted into a state university in 2007. COAM was able to produce topnotchers in the Licensure Examinations for both nurses and midwifery. Due to this excellent performance, the Southern Luzon State University been cited by the Philippine Regulation Commission and Commission on higher education as one of the Top Performing Schools of Nursing and Midwifery in the Philippines since 1987 til now. From 1999, a big transformation in terms of faculty profile took place because majority of the instructors were able to complete their masters degree in compliance with Republic Act 9173 mandating that all clinical Instructors should be educationally qualified. From 2008 til 2011, College of Allied Medicine experienced enrollment increase as they gained respect and trust from the community in being able to produce more professional nurses. SLSU, known as the top 3 nursing school in the country in 2009, with an 8th and 4th placer for 2010, and another 4th and

10th placer for the year of 2011, as awarded by the Philippine Regulation Commission. In the year 2009, the College of Allied Medicine became the No. 1 top performing School of Midwifery garnering 100% performance in the Midwifery Licensure Examination. COAM, then, got to be the 9th top performing school of nursing in the country with two 7th placer and 10th placer in 2012. Since 1982, COAM was continuously making history as it had been under the leadership of Deans Teresita V. Valde, Clarissa D. Maguyon , and Susana A. Salvacion. The College of Allied Medicine persistently upholds quality services and superior education in order to come up with the standard of excellence.

COAM facilities A remarkable phrase that made the students wander on why did they choose College of Allied Medicine. Upon entering this building with a very refreshing ambiance, one could already make a choice of staying here. The college has a very magnetic relaxing floor and walls that build a block of decision that choose this path. This building of Skills, Knowledge and Attitude has the facilities that would definitely be a source of outstanding learning for a prefect course like nursing. This building has the skills laboratory where a set-up of a mini hospital can be found, it contains dolls, dummies and hospital beds, traction models and hospital equipments that can be used for return demonstrations. There is also an Anatomy Laboratory containing Skeletal models, real skeleton structures, a model of stages of fetal development, human anatomy model, posters of body organs and cells with their parts. An air-conditioned auditorium that is available for various events like conferences, reviews, research presentations and seminars. COAM Learning Center that has a mini stage also serves as a room for conferences, seminars, and even classes just like the auditorium. A state-of-the-art room for anatomy subject where students could manually separate and identify each body tissues, organs, and systems is also at hand. It has a real cadaver of man for a model. This college has the newly renovated computer room that is being used by the students from different colleges. A peaceful college it is as they say as only a few students can be seen around the corridors during classes. The nonstop growing and developing of College of Allied Medicine do produce globally competitive nurses. This is College of Allied Medicine a building of SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE and ATTITUDE.

COAM FACULTY MEMBERS Bringing you a quality education, the College of Allied Medicine is equipped with 43 outstanding faculty members who have their own areas of specialization. Most of them are holder of Masters degree and qualified to be a part of the undying legacy in building competent, holistic, and well trained future registered nurses. The COAM administration has been headed by three Deans namely, Dr. Teresita V. Valde from 1982 to 2000, Dr. Clarissa D. Maguyon from year 2000 to 2005, and Dr. Susana A. Salvacion from year 2000 up until now. Professor Caroline B. Murallon, MAN is the chairman in Nursing while Professor Sandra D. Elma, MAN in midwifery. Level I and II coordinator is Dr. Dulce C. Raeses while Professor Evangeline B. Mecija, MAN is the coordinator for level III and IV. In terms of disciplinary measures, Professor Estrella Q. Tagbo supervised and ensured that all the schools rules and regulations are followed. Extension services is being handled by Professor Maria Luisa E. Barretto, MAN and Professor Rosalinda A. Abuy for the Research Department. Leadership by example is embodied by the Allied Medicine Students office or AMSO supervised by Professor Bernardita E. Brillon. In here, all the students complaints and requests are heard and forces of students are willing to help and build a bond between each other so that the essence of a family will be established. Research The College of Allied Medicine- the home of Board Exam Topnochers, has also been the home of the best Researchers in the campus. Science and health as basis, this college has been producing many graduates for decades now that have made their very own piece of art through Research writing. Researches being conducted here at COAM emphasizes the problems related to health and the practice of the students itself. Health and science have many branches and with this, students have formulated their ideas and foundation for their researches. Just recently, COAMs very own Clinical Instructors and student have reached Malaysia and other immense countries such as Singapore to share their precious studies focused about health. They have made not only the college itself, but our Alma Mater as well.

In terms of helping others for the better, the College of Allied Medicine has been one of the most active colleges here in SLSU. The Extension Programs- these are mostly centered to our beloved communities which is sometimes composed of Feeding Programs. The Dapdap community in Tayabas has been one of those areas wherein students have been facilitating such programs for the children and pregnant mothers. Here, students were exposed to the people in the community and were trained to give health education for all, regardless of their age and socioeconomic statuses. The main goal of these extension programs were to enhance the health status and education of the people in the community It also aims to make the community feel that health will be within their reach and that health is a basic right for all. COAM has been doing such generous activities for decades now, and hopefully, will be doing such for more years to come.

COAM STUDENTS IN ACTION Gear up and give your best shot. For the past days, students of College of Allied Medicine showed their talents and skills on different activities they had participated. They proved that COAM have a bunch of great and outstanding students. On the month of February year 2013, AMSO election of new officers was held. Marjorie M. Lovedorialas was the elected president together with her new elected AMSO officers led and planned for activities to be participated for the incoming events in the college. Last July 29 August 3, 2013, COAM students participated in the Inter-collegiate and Campuses Athletic Competition including Cultural Competition. Ms. Princess Alyssa A. Palacol got the title of Ms. ICCAC 2013 while Mr. Mike Roniel Ramiro became the Mr. ICCAC 2013 1 st runner up. COAM earned a total of 13 gold medals, 12 silver medals and 4 bronze medals on the said event. From being rank 11, COAM is now holding the fifth position on the overall ranking. Also, they evinced their passion in dancing, singing and playing of musical instruments. ADSO Modern Jazz participants grooved and was held as the champion. They also participated in extemporaneous talk and received a respective award. Last August 23, 2013, a Research seminar was conducted at COAM Auditorium and participated by the third year and fourth year nursing students.

On September 12, 2013, a seminar for the Supreme Student Council Federation (SSCF) was commenced at the COAM auditorium in preparation for the Dark Green Accreditation on September 23 to 25 of the same year. General cleaning was done throughout the university by respective faculty and students of various colleges.
