Going to the Hospital: Do NOT wait for the hospital ambulance to pick you up (UNLESS the child has a major trauma that requires OXYGEN or a HARD NECK BOARD or to be LAY DOWN FLAT to transport him to the hospital), because the hospital ambulance is notoriously late and bad. Instead, you should either: o Call our driver ) o OR - Call for a taxi (include info on how to call for a taxi) Note: If the child has a major trauma that requires OXYGEN or HARD NECK BOARD or needs to be LAY DOWN FLAT to transport to the hospital, then you should call the Ambulance (dial 120). Note that you must SPECIFICALLY REQUEST A HARD NECK BOARD when you call for the Ambulance. 120 Note: Ambulances are operated by a private company NOT affiliated with the hospital. Therefore, be aware that you need to pay for the ambulance in cash after they deliver you to the hospital (cost is about RMB100-200). 100-200

o *IMPORTANT*: Shanghai United Family Hospital is a general hospital that caters to ex-pats, but it is NOT a full-service childrens hospital. (Trauma emergencies include anything that deals with bleeding or requires the child to undergo surgery, such as a serious fall, broken bones, major accidents, loss of consciousness, head trauma, seizures, etc.) If the child has a trauma emergency and you take him to Shanghai United Family Hospital, they will send you to Childrens Hospital of Shanghai (and you will have wasted valuable time). Additional Info to Know about the Childrens Hospital If your child requires a pediatric specialist that your regular hospital doesnt offer, the Childrens Hospital may have the pediatric specialist youre looking for.
