Chart Details

All odd-numbered rows are knit. The even-numbered rows are knit or purled to bring out the image.
Read the chart from bottom to top. Odd-numbered rows are read from right to left; even-numbered
rows are read from left to right.

Red rows are worked in MC; white rows and yellow squares are both worked in CC (the yellow squares
are there only so you can see what the image will look like – they do not indicate a color change).

Finished Measurement
Width: 20 cm (8”)
Length: 25.5 cm (10”)

Gauge
19 sts and 30 rows/rounds = 10 cm ( 4”) in 4 row repeats of 2 rows garter stitch and 2 rows
stockinette stitch (Note: This is my gauge for this pattern. Unless you are working this illusion into
a sweater or other existing pattern the gauge is not that important. For best results, knit tightly
and don’t worry too much about gauge.)

You’ll need:

 2 colors of yarn in worsted weight, a main color or MC (background) and a contrasting color or CC
(image)
 4.0 mm (US 6) needles

Instructions

Cast on 40 stitches in MC. Change colors after every 2 nd row, carrying the yarn up the side.

Work chart until complete. For a scarf, repeat chart until desired length is reached.

Bind off.
