CourseName: AdvancedPhysicalTherapyPractice:ClinicalOrthopedicResidencyEducationSeries IndependentStudyCourse:FoundationsofOrthopedicandManualPhysicalTherapy CourseDescription:Theseintroductorylectureswillintroducetheparticipanttotheseriesoffouronsitecourses designedtoprovidecomprehensive,advancedtraininginmanualtherapyandorthopedicrehabilitation.These independentstudieswillprovidethehistoricalandevidencebasedfoundationthatwillguidetheremainderofthe programsinthisseries.Courseinstructionwillfocusontheexaminationandevaluationcomponentsoforthopedic physicaltherapypractice,withparticularemphasisonmedicalscreening,pharmacology,radiology,differential diagnosis,andclinicalreasoning.Additionally,researchdesign,criticalinquiry,andprinciplesofevidencebased practicewillbereviewedwiththegoalofassistingtheparticipantinbeingabletolocateandcomprehendthe currentscientificliterature.Theselectureswillprovideamechanismforsystematicexaminationtestingessential formakingapathologybaseddiagnosis.Theparticipantwillbeintroducedtoanimpairmentbaseddiagnosis testingandtreatmentphilosophythatwillbeexpandedonduringsubsequentprograms.
