morning, or just about every morning, the first thing I do after waking up and using the bathroom (I guess you dont need to know that part) is to make a honey + water drink. This may sound like an old wives tale or something your grandmother might have told you, but there is some serious truth behind the benefits of such a practiceIm sure youll be surprised once you finish reading the information below. First, how do you make the drink? Simply add a teaspoon (or a tablespoon if you have a really sweet tooth) to a glass of natural mineral water (preferably room temperature) which means NO tap water thats another subject that shall require an article within itself (stay tuned). Stirring with a fork quickens the process be patient now. Then, open your mouth and consume the beverage Ok, now for the science part: Did you know that honey has been shown to be far superior to conventional antibiotics in treating infections and without the negative side effects associated with antibiotic use. It is amazing that the bacteria-killing properties of honey increase two-fold when diluted with water. Maybe that explains why newly born bees are nourished with diluted honey.

Also, when honey is mixed with water, a chemical reaction takes place resulting in the creation of hydrogen peroxide, the most powerful natural antibiotic. Unlike the hydrogen peroxide purchased in the pharmacy, the one produced by the above mixture is natural and therefore protects itself from being associated with conventional man-made antibiotics and their negative effects. It only takes approximately 7 minutes for the honey + water mixture to diffuse into the bloodstream ready to fight the bad stuff! Apparently Mr. Hippocrates (430BC approx.) used two different honey mixtures, sometimes mixing the honey with vinegar and sometimes with water. He found that the honey water solution was far superior in treating wounds, though he probably did not know why. Remember remember, use organic, unpasteurised (unpasteruized for my American readers beneficial!) So I guess youll be having a honey water beverage tomorrow morning? ) and unfiltered honey and to really be picky: try to source honey of locality, i.e. produced near to where you live (though this is not essential, it is very

I also drink the honey and water mix. Maybe you should try it before bedtime. Its actually helpful for insomnia. For antibacterial benefits, manuka honey is supposed to be the best type. Reply

Honey helps very much with stomach aches; Ive been drinking honey in water every morning (religiously) for the past 3 months. Also, try it on your face (yes face) especially if youve got breakouts. I apply it once or twice a week; it really helps with the healing process! Reply

Are there any reasons that I should NOT drink honey/water when Im pregnant? (Due in Dec) Traditional doctors say that you shouldnt feed honey to infants. Do you know why? Reply

November 9, 2007 | 10:33 am

Heather, Thank you, thats a good question. It is perfectly safe during pregnancy for the mother to consume honey. The reason doctors tell us not to feed infants honey is due to the fact that their digestive tract is not very acidic and therefore it provides a perfect environment for the botulinum spore to breed and as a result produce the botulism toxin. Where as the digestive tract of an adult (including pregnant mothers) is acidic enough to inhibit the growth of the botulism toxin.

Sean, Contrary to what many read, honey is fine for the teeth (that doesnt mean u shouldnt brush your teeth lol). It can affect how you feel (positively) as the brain is a big consumer of fructose (honey consists mainly of fructose a type of carbohydrate). It shouldnt matter how much honey you add, as long as it mixes with the water and you dont use the whole jar take care. Reply

Sean, As with just about anything in life, moderation is the key. For example, drinking water is very good, though too much can be detrimental to ones health due to the loss of minerals (i.e. through urination). Keep a balance. Hope that helps. take care. Reply

Hello. I think drinking too much water is good, and doesnt cause minerals loss. You may experience that. When you drink too much water regularly and eat moderately, your urines often are of transparent color and dont smell. I suppose that means there is less stuff to clean in blood and eject from body. So, water surplus when in will simply be flushed out by the body. Reply

Drinking to much fluids is one of the chief causes of bowel disease. I bled and suffered from IBD for 15 years. I was drinking well over 2 gallons a day. I did research on vitamin deficiencies and found that IBD patients have a vitamin A deficiency. Seeing that it is fat-soluble, the gut would have a tough time using vitamin A correctly if constantly exposed to excessive water. I was always low on energy, always craving salt, always craving sugar. So, I worked my way off water. It took a year, but I am now completely cured of IBD. I went back and looked at the statistics for the rise of bowel

disease here in the US. Guess what? It started in the late 1940s. Guess what else? That is about the time that the medical community started telling us to drink at least 8-10 glasses of water a day! Its been on the rise ever since. Eight glasses of water is over 100 oz of water. Eight CUPS of water is more realistic. In my job, I walked some 5 miles a day. In the summer, I only needed about 20 oz throughout the work day. In this last winter, I only needed about 12 oz. Drinking more water, while good for the occasional flush, is NOT the road to better health. I have since advised other people suffering from IBD that too much fluid is the cause of their disease. They are all now cured. I say that again: They are all now cured. Blessings to all. Enjoy your honey. I do. Reply

Vishu, Honey with hot water does have some benefits. Whenever I have a sore throat, I drink hot water with honey and it instantaneously soothes my throat (though I do use quite hot water be careful!). Reducing your tummy? Sometimes people look for miracle cures and always want a one tablet/one pill/one diet cure, when in reality it usually takes a combined approach (i.e. diet & exercise) to combat fat, especially around the abdominal region. Remember everyone is different and therefore a custom approach, involving trial and improvement, is required to achieve ones desired goal(s). If you would like more information please stay tuned as I shall be writing on the aforementioned topics in more detail soon. If you cant wait till then do not hesitate to contact me via email. Hi Hussnain, I have read before that drinking cinnamon with honey in hot water is beneficial for stomach ache, indigestion and reduction of body fat. A magazine in Canada, Weekly World News (17 January 1995), gave a list of diseases that can be cured by this concoction. The three ailments that you have specified in your question were also in this list. The magazine claims that these have been researched by Western scientists, though I have not been able to get my hands on the actual publication to be able to verify the sources. However, having said that, the benefits of honey and cinnamon, whether consumed separately or together are numerous and outstanding! My advice, start off slowly (i.e. a small amount) and monitor yourself closely for a few days to a week, you should be fine. Thereafter taking this mixture daily should be okay. However do not substitute this information as medical advice, always check with your doctor. Reply

Pallavi, This is too much of a vague question and not that simple. If you are eating a diet where calorie intake is higher than calorie expenditure, then no you will not lose weight. Also not exercising is another factor which can, but not always, effect weight loss. There is no magic pill, sorry. You have to research and develop a lifestyle change. Reply

Hi and thank you for the great articles. please let me in on some info on GI, is it benificial for good heath. some health experts said it is good to implement a low GI diet as a part of a heathly eating plan as well as a great way to lose a few pounds a week. Rosmary Conley repeatedly says this diet is great for the whole family. Is it suitible for the child aswell as the adult? And please share any recipes for my sweet tooth cravings if you have them. I heard dark chocolate is better but how much is a little. One square piece or a few nibbles? What else can i have apart from dryed fruit cause i have had enough of dryed fruit. I used to be a fan of it and eat alot especially in my last pregnancy. Im now sick of it. Many thanks. Reply

Hi Amatullah, The Glycemic Index (GI) diet is very good and beneficial for the health. It is a great way of losing weight both quickly and in a healthy manner. The diet is suitable for everyone. I would recommend going on the GL (Glycemic or Glycaemic Load) diet though, which includes everything from the GI diet but also takes into account the amount of food and its glycemic response. Dark chocolate (85%+) is not only better but has more antioxidant activity than green tea! How much? Well that depends upon what satisfies you, but dont over do it moderation is key remember. Have normal fruit instead of dried fruit. Have you tried eating raw honey with banana? If I come across any good recipes that cater for the sweet toothed people I shall definitely post them up here. Having a cheat food every now and then (and I mean every now and then) is okay, as long as you are following a healthy diet and exercising regularly. Hope that helps.

Mrs. Wai, You are right, different temperatures do have different effects. For example, hot water with honey is very soothing for a sore throat, where as room temperature water with honey is good for the stomach and digestive system. Remember to use real honey, not the honey that is pasteurised, filtered and from bees that are sugar-fed.

Soleha, Alot of people experience the benefit of jump starting their bowels with honey + water. You can apply the honey directly to your face. Just make sure you use good quality honey (as described in the above comments) i.e. unpasteurised, unfiltered, preferably of locality and organic. I know it is somewhat difficult to obtain good quality honey, but try your best. In regards to your hair tie it back or maybe gel it flat (the latter part was a joke). Your eczema may be the result of an undetected allergy/food intolerance that you may not know of, look into proteolytic enzyme supplementation I shall write an article about this subject soon, they will most definitely rid you of your eczema (God willing). I had very bad hay fever and after proteolytic enzyme supplementation for one month, I was cured! Hope that helps Reply

A good friend of mine told me he had started using a teaspoon of honey in his coffee each morning instead of granulated sugar or sweet and low. He swears by it because he read somewhere that honey was good for him and hes 64 years old and looks forward to his morning honey/coffee. Think I will try it. After reading your posts I see it can help with everything except in-grown toenails. Thanks for the site Reply

Another thing, Can a lady consume any of these drinks during & after her pregnancy. Thanks for your help. Approximately 1 teaspoon of honey for a standard sized cup (approx. 200-250ml). Use quarter of a lemon and a pinch of cinnamon. This drink can be consumed during and after pregnancy though I do advise you to seek advice from your doctor as your particular situation may be different to that of others. I came across this link which may be of interest to you: http://www.baldingblog.com/ Search the net for testimonials of people who have tried using honey for hair problems. It wouldnt surprise me in the least if honey or a concoction containing honey would help/benefit hair related issues. UPDATE: I came across this research journal: Al-Waili NS. Therapeutic and prophylactic effects of crude honey on chronic seborrheic dermatitis and dandruff (2001). Eur J Med Res. 2001 Jul 30;6(7):306-8. Celina, It works better with room temp. water as opposed to warm/hot water because the higher the temp. of the water, the more likely the beneficial properties of the honey will be destroyed (e.g. beneficial enzymes etc.) Another good example is that of spinach, once it is cooked, the vitamin C content is considerably reduced, where as the vitamin A content becomes more bio-available (apparently). Hope that helps. Reply

One part honey to two parts of lukewarm water and a teaspoon of cinnamon will make a paste that will noticeably reduce pain in a matter of a couple of minutes. Patients suffering from arthritis can take one cup of hot water with two spoons of honey and a teaspoon of cinnamon once in the morning and again in the evening. Its been said that taken regularly even chronic arthritis can be cured. The results were that within a week, 73 patients out of 200 were relieved of pain and within a month, arthritis patients could again walk without pain. 2 Cholesterol is said to be treatable with honey. Mix two tablespoons of honey and three tablespoons of cinnamon in 16 ounces of tea. This mixture is said to reduce the level of cholesterol by ten percent within a short amount of time. Imagine eating 5000 calories a day, and expecting to lose weight by drinking this concuction. Make any sense? Hi Anand, Ive been asked this question soo many times that I have taken the hint and shall be writing something related to fat loss. Some quick tips for you: - Workout how much you consume daily (i.e. calories) and how much you burn, is there a deficit or surplus? If you are eating more than you are burning then you are not helping yourself at all. - Dont follow stupid diets that tell you to stop eating fat or carbohydrates. Remember, moderation is key to just about everything. - Avoid sugary drinks and processed foods where possible (e.g. instead of white bread have brown bread, instead of white rice have brown rice etc.) - Exercise and make sure you have a variety of different activities (e.g. not just running, but also resistance training, other sports etc.) Unfortunately I cannot do justice to your question as I would end up writing the article now and it is not possible to do so at the moment. Please visit back regularly and you may see an indepth article series on fat loss. Hope that helps

Hi I started taking honey and warm water every morning some months to help with constipation and to improve my skin. I noticed that my stomach problems are better, though not really for my skin. I have 2 concerns: 1) I have heard about hot water destroying honey properties, but I also heard that its best to drink warm water in the morning to detoxify the liver, so I normally mix honey with 3/4 glass of room temp water, then add a bit of hot/boiling on top to warm up the mixture. Would that make a difference, or is that the same anyway? 2) There was a period of time, about a week or two, when I ran out of honey and just didnt have the time to buy it. I noticed that I was feeling poorly that week, in terms of stomach and mood. Im wondering if thats psychological (placebo effect of honey) or is honey actually addictive???? Thanks for answering these questions! Reply

Hi MLin, 1) Basically it is the same. From my readings, consumption of warm/hot water is some how linked to getting rid of fats in your system (trying to find the book in my library but have not been successful yet will keep you updated). 2) From what I know, honey is not addictive. However, honey is amazing at helping stomach problems! Also, the brain is the biggest consumer of sugars, hence there may be some link, not saying definitely, but maybe. By the way, where do you get your honey from? Supermarket? Health shop? And also, when you say to help your skin what do you mean? Do you have problem skin like acne? If so, please read my acne articles, hope they help. Reply

Thanks for your reply! Well, I get my honey from the supermarket, nothing fancy. Its called white honey (sometimes I get something called clover/alfafa?), but I make sure to get the unpasteurised version. So, would you know the temperature at which honey properties start to get destroyed by heat? Would be nice to get the optimal benefits of both honey AND warm water! I heard that honey helps the skin in the long run, an inside out kind of process if drinking it and not applying it directly. Thanks, Ill check out your acne article. By the way, Im not sure if honey helps the teeth, but Colgate has a honey toothpaste out. Tastes so good! Reply

Hi MLin, Thanks for your reply Are you from Singapore? I remember when I went there for holiday they had Raw honey in the supermarket, I was SOOOOO extremely happy. Its hard to buy here in the UK though hopefully very soon I shall be selling some on my site Honey definitely helps the skin! The properties can start dying off at approx. 40 degrees centigrade (enzymes started to die), though I need to clarify this. Colgate has a honey toothpaste? Where? LOL! Have you got an online link for it? Did you know, before the creation of the refrigerator, people (especially in Arabia) would cover their meat and other foods in honey to preserve (six months at a time)! Reply

Thanks for your comment! To give your hair lustrous shine, mix 1 teaspoon of honey into 4 cups of warm water. Use as a hair rinse. And if youre a blond, add the juice of 1 lemon, too. Nikki, Clover honey is produced by bees which feed primarily on the nectar of clover plants, thats the only difference (and maybe the taste too). From a health perspective it would be hard to judge which honey is better. By the way, is the honey you are using raw? (i.e. unpasteurised, cold-processed and unfiltered) Reply

I hope you can help us with this one. We have been feeding our 22 month old toddler goats milk since the age of 12 months because of eczema and other allergies. We have stopped the milk at 20 months and introduced rooibos tea with honey or water with honey. We have heard lots of conflicting stories about the use of honey with babies / toddlers. What is your response. We have been mixing the honey with boiled water and heard many stories about this too. Our toddlers sleep pattern has changed alot, quite restless and she also seems to have some abdominal issues which we cannot resolve. Could these symptoms be as a result of us feeding her honey continuously on a daily basis or what is your opinion. Please refer us to reading any material regarding this issue. Thanks alot Reply

Hi all! So I am trying to detox just to cleanse the system and maybe lose a few pounds. I tried the honey and water just for today and have not seen any results yet (not sure how long it takes to kick in). For breakfast I just had green tea with honey (2 teaspoons each time) and for lunch and dinner had water and honey. I have been drinking tons of water throughout the day as well. I plan on doing this for only 3-4 days. Is this an appropriate way to detoxify your body in just a few days? Should I be adding lemon to my drinks as well?

April 25, 2009 | 10:07 am

Kimberly, No this is not an ideal way to detox in just a few days. You will not lose weight just by drinking this formula no way! Please read the previous comments for further explanation. If you want to detox your body, you have to prepare it first, by improving your diet (if not already healthy) and then slowly employing different methods (such as fasting) to compliment your healthy lifestyle. It makes no sense to treat your body like rubbish and then expect to heal or improve it in 3 days doesnt make sense does it? Consistency is key, dont go to any extremes as you wont be able to handle it no one really can. Hope that helps Reply

Then I researched on the link between honey and diabetes and so far there have been extensive studies conducted and none is conclusive. Ever since I heard of his diabetes due to honey consumption, I now drink honey and water very sparingly, perhaps with a meal or before I retire at nightsay once a week. I guess its better to be safe than sorry? more on lemon + hot water upon rising. Reply Now I concentrate

After I heard from a friend of mine that drinking honey with water hepls in weight loss, I have started taking honey in little hot water( 4 glasses with a teaspoon of honey). Somehow I am finding that my bowel is not getting cleaned totally. SO I m not sure if this is due to honey I have started taking these days (Or I am taking curd with sugar quite regularly these days in afternoon or evening). I would like to tell about myself. I have diabetes for about 8-9 years now. I dont know if it was caused by water+honey. But I did do warm water+honey for good period and it might be linked. I got diabetes when I was 30 years old. Doctor was very surprised about that. I was not obese but about 3-4 kg overweight from a standard BMI perspective. I was doing water+honey in moderation (1 glass water+1 teasppon honey, once per day in morning) to reduce weight along with exerice etc. There might be some relation. I would suggest not to do this or do it sparingly. Try alternates. Reply

Kul, what was your diet like? It is extremely unlikely, if not impossible, that one teaspoon of honey in the morning can have such an effect. I think it would be very fair of you to post your diet. Did you eat refined carbs throughout most of your life? What kind of exercise regime did you follow? Cardio? Weight lifting? To say that your diabetes is linked to the honey + water is somewhat unlikely. Reply

In regards to acne, you have to improve your diet (if you havent already done so) and exercise regularly. The drink will help with your acne though there is no one solution. A combined approach of exercise, healthy diet, enough sleep etc. See this post: http://thehealthblogger.com/acne-my-story/ Reply

Hi, I am a college student and I have a few questions about this drink. 1. It will be difficult for me to get fresh lemons all the time. Can I use store bought lemon juice? 2. It is difficult for me to use non-tap water, because I get most of my water from a fountain. Should I get a brita filter, or is the source of water of minor importance? (Also, the water is cold, but I could get room temp water from the sink.) 3. After everything Ive read, I feel that the best overall everyday drink would be: 1 cup warm water, green tea bag, teaspoon of honey, one quarter of a lemon, one pinch of cinnamon. Do you agree or disagree with any part of this drink? Does the green tea take away any of the benefits from the honey?

Ashley, 1. Fresh lemons are most definitely better. If you use lemon juice from the store, you will only reap the benefit of the taste (if thats what you like) the other benefits such as vitamin content etc. are destroyed due to the lemon juice being processed. 2. The source of water is important if you can get a brita filter that would be good. 3. Sounds like a tasty drink. I have not read of the interaction between mixing green tea and honey with any negativity. Reply

Hello, I stumbled across this article somehow and I found it very interesting. Recently, Ive been drinking honey and hot milk, which is absolutely delicious (Im skinny, not worrying about getting fat), and I was wondering if there are any differences in the benefits as opposed to using a water-honey mixture. I feel that I can sleep better, but I feel that that is just warm milk doing its job. Let me know what you think. Also, after reading some of these comments, I began to wonder about skin treatments. Since dissolving honey in water increases the antibiotic properties of the honey two-fold, why not just use a honey solution rather than pure honey for skin treatments? Has this been dynamic been explored? My last question is about pollen allergies. Ive heard from some friends that if you eat local honey, you will have a reduction in the severity of ones allergic reactions to pollen. Is this actually true, or is it just a myth? Ive heard from some that it works, and from some that it doesnt, so I dont know what to think. Any input would be much appreciated. Thanks! ~Victor Reply

Victor, if the honey + hot milk is working for you, keep at it I have not come across anything propounding the benefits of milk + honey over the use of water + honey. The study shows only the interaction of honey + water. Honey solution great idea! I will look further into this though the skin is not very porous except to lipid containing solutions. In regards to honey of locality and pollen allergies i have spoken to many people who claim that it has helped them, yet I have not read any specific studies. I took proteolytic enzymes for a couple of months to rid me of my pollen allergies. Reply

Is it safe to use for pimples? Like the one that I boughtI think this one was mixed with sugar? not sure if the sugar-taste is coming from the honey or from the added sugar? Thanks and more power! Deisi, Grocery stores will most probably stock the pasteurised/filtered honey. If it is pasteurised it wont tell you on the jar! However if it is NOT pasteurised it will most probably tell you on the jar. Or you could just contact the company and ask them. Be sure to ask them if the honey has been pasteurised and/or heated there is a difference! Its fine to mix with tea. It should be fine to use for pimples but use good quality, natural, raw honey. Local health stores usually have good honey, but even they have pasteurised varieties too (sometimes)! Reply

Hi, 10Q 4 sharing the knowledge about honey. I have been drinking a TBsp of Honey & Lime Juice respectively with hot to warm water for quite a period now. As I have been reading a lot about it there are few queries that I have: 1) Does warm to hot water kill nutrients in Honey? 2)An instead of warm to hot water if Ive it in room temperature water, will I put on weight? As per my understanding, honey, lime juice n water is suppose to help me clean my internal system of unwanted toxins n wastes. So does warm or room temperature water makes a difference? If you could please shed some light on it. Cheers, Archana Reply

May 31, 2010 | 6:24 am

Archana, Youre welcome 1) Warm to hot water can kill certain elements within the honey, for example if the water is above 38 C (approx.) then the enzymes can start to denature and be destroyed if the temperature increases. 2) No. It is always better to use room temperature water and I would never use warm to hot water unless I have a severe sore throat. I came across an interesting book by an Arab scholar of the past (Ibn Qayyim) who mentions that drinking exceedingly hot water dissolves and reduces the accumulation of fat and other lipomatous compounds in the body. Hope that helps Reply

Since you wrote the article has there been any new medical evidence that mixing honey with a hot beverage can stop the benefits of honey, or worse, be detrimental? Out of curiosity, why the advocating for people to not use tap water? Virtually all bottled is simply tap water, anyway(not to mention how much it costs and the environmental impact it has), and while a Brita filter certainly isnt a bad idea, many filters say they take out various things that are very rarely ever present in tap water at all. Unless someone lives in an area where they KNOW that the tap water is sub-standard, it ought to be perfectly safe and healthy to drink. Reply

Hi. Im a bit heavy and Ive been told that drinking honey, cinnamon and water (I dont much like the taste of the three ingredients together) have done amazing things for weightloss, however most recipes dictate that the honey has to be raw or unpasturized. Can I use plain old pure honey from the supermarket or does it have to be one of those two honeys? And I ride my bike everyday to school (appx 20 minutes to and from, uphill one way). Could this, and a combination of the honey and water (without cinnamon), help with weight loss? Reply

Sabrina, I have been asked numerous times if the combination of ingredients you specified could aid in weight loss. Unfortunately I have not tested this theory or come across any information supporting this recipe. Generally, regular exercise coupled with a good diet (please see the above comments as I have answered this question before many times) with a slight deficit in calories will help you lose weight gradually. As a honey convert after reading your article, I just wanted to share my experience with you. I have forced myself to take honey and water + lemon in the morning and evening for a little while now. I have been using Manuka 10+ and I cannot praise this stuff enough. A little over a month ago, I was an insomniac and as such, struggled to get through the working day. After exercising on an evening, I drink my honey drink (with nose firmly closed but Im working on this!) and have found I sleep like a baby. Although I engage in strenuous weight bearing exercise, I have little muscle soreness the next day which is amazing. My morning drink really sets me up for the day and I feel invigorated and energised. Thank you for promoting the benefits of this amazing product. Reply

My dad had been telling me for years to drink a cup of warm water with a teaspoon of honey. He said its great for women, since it helps to clean your reproductive system. I never listened to him. Until about 6 months ago that I read on a fashion & beauty magazine honey+water is great for your skin. From that day on Ive been drinking this miracle formula. It has done wonders for my skin. I never had any problems with it, but it has made it glow. I literally get at least 1 compliment a day, and get asked what kind of make up do I use. Also after trying to conceive for 2 years, I became pregnant 3 months after drinking my honey water. So who knows if its all in my head, but I credit this drink. I use Evian bottled water, a cup of it + a teaspoon (or less) of honey. Then I microwave it (probably not the healthiest method) for a minute. Reply

Wow! Thanks Dana! I remember I stopped taking this mixture for a while (most probably due to laziness + being too busy always a great excuse!) however, after I started taking it again I realised AGAIN how great it was and regretted for stopping! (too many agains!) Reply

anand, i guess you could do that, however im not sure if the same type of benefits could be derived as mixing with water. Though taking honey by itself also has great benefits. Reply

The anti-bacterial effect of honey is not exactly as you described it. Honey in its natural state is basically too dry for bacteria and fungi to live on. If you dilute it with water, youd have no problem getting colonies of both growing on it. The chemical reaction that produces hydrogen peroxide needs a certain pH, and the presence of other ions (sodium) which arent present in honey. Its only the application to the skins surface that provides the right conditions. Drinking it will have the same effect as eating a lollipop, it will have little anti-bacterial benefitfor any ailment. Reply

Seema, as mentioned in many replies to this question, I have not come across any evidence which shows the correlation between honey water and weight loss. Unfortunately I cannot give a program to you without knowing further information etc. I advise that you start exercising regularly (if youre not already doing so) and try to eat healthier, whole foods as opposed to processed junk. Try to follow a diet whereby the majority of your protein and fat (good fats) intake is good and reduce your carbs (within reason). On training days you can increase carbs and reduce fats around your training schedule. Sorry for the vague answer, but hopefully this will give you somewhat of a better direction to do further research. Reply

peopleyou cant reduce weight overnight by just having honey and water..you have to excecise and eat healthy. honey and water should be part of the healthy diet but you shouldnt depend on that entirely for your weight loss!!! Reply

Hey, reading all this has been Overwhelming I googles honey for hair, and this came up. Honey has so many great nutrients, its my fix-all remedy for stress, insomnia, stomaches and definitely, DEFINITELY sore throats. But I need to know, if I take olive oil and honey and coat my hair with it for the night, will it help with hair growth? Or at least make my hair healthier? I bleached my hair blonde from an auburn brown, then dyed it back brown. It, of course, is pretty damaged. Im pulling out all my home remedies, but this one Im not sure about. I really want long healthy hair. Will honey work? Reply

I want to mix green tea and honey for an exact 7% sugar solution for use during triathlon training and racing. Is there a formulea or rule of thumb for the amount of honey to add to an 8 oz solution (or 16) to achieve an exact 7% sugar solution? Thanks! Paul Reply

Hi Paul, Im not entirely sure, it depends on the sugar content of your honey as well as other factors. However I have come across a great article which expounds upon workout nutrition in detail: http://johnberardi.com/articles/nutrition/puzzle_2.htm Hope that helps. Reply
